  • Do you have discounts for children?

    Yes!

All our family holidays offer discounts for younger members of your family - this can be anywhere between 10% and 25%.  This depends on the operator, and sometimes on date and departure also.  Displaying these online is something we are working hard on but in the meantime please just ask our team!

Depending on the age of your children, different operators will work out better for your family. Some offer a 25% discount for under 12’s for example, and some offer a 10% discount for all under 18.  Just get in touch with our team letting them know how old your children would be at time of travel and we can point you to the best options in any region.

Please contact us to find out more.

    5. Australia: Known for its diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities, Australia offers a wealth of family-friendly experiences. Explore the Great Barrier Reef, meet kangaroos and koalas, discover the Outback, and enjoy the cosmopolitan vibe of Sydney or Melbourne. Guided family tours in Australia often include wildlife encounters, outdoor adventures, and visits to iconic landmarks.

    6. Peru: For families seeking a mix of history, adventure, and natural beauty, Peru is a captivating destination. Remember, these are just a few examples, and there are countless other destinations around the world that offer exceptional guided family holidays. When choosing a destination, consider the interests and preferences of your family, the age appropriateness of activities, and the overall travel experience you wish to have. Consulting with a reputable tour operator specializing in family travel can also provide valuable insights and recommendations tailored to your family's needs.

  • What are the benefits of a family tour?

A guided family touring holiday offers several benefits that can enhance the overall travel experience for families. Here are some of the advantages:

    1. Expert guidance: Having a knowledgeable and experienced tour guide can greatly enhance the family holiday. The guide can provide valuable insights, share interesting stories, and answer questions about the destinations visited. They act as a source of information and can offer recommendations for activities, attractions, and dining options that are suitable for families.

    2. Stress-free planning: Planning a family holiday can be overwhelming, especially when visiting unfamiliar destinations. A guided tour takes care of the logistics, including transportation, accommodations, and itinerary planning. This saves families time and effort in organizing the trip, allowing them to focus on enjoying the experience rather than dealing with the nitty-gritty details.

    3. Educational opportunities: Guided tours often have an educational component that is beneficial for families. The tour guide can provide historical and cultural context, explain the significance of landmarks, and engage children in interactive learning experiences. This can foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the destinations visited, making the trip more enriching and educational for the whole family.

    4. Safety and security: When traveling with a guided tour, families can feel more secure in unfamiliar environments. The tour operator typically ensures the safety of the group, taking necessary precautions and providing guidance on potential risks. The tour guide is familiar with the local customs, language, and best practices, which can help families navigate safely and avoid common pitfalls.

    5. Access to curated experiences: Guided tours often provide access to curated experiences that may be difficult to arrange independently. This could include private tours of popular attractions, special events, or unique activities designed for families. By joining a guided tour, families can enjoy exclusive opportunities and make the most of their vacation.

    6. Meeting Other Families: Traveling with a guided tour allows families to connect with other like-minded families. Children can make friends with fellow young travelers, and parents can share experiences and tips with other adults. This social interaction can enhance the enjoyment of the holiday, provide opportunities for cultural exchange, and create lasting friendships.

    7. Making The Most: Guided tours are designed to maximize the time spent at each destination. The itinerary is carefully planned to include key highlights, ensuring that families can make the most of their limited  time. The tour guide manages the schedule, coordinates transportation, and ensures a smooth flow between attractions, minimising time wasted on logistics.

    8. Flexibility and convenience: While guided tours have a structured itinerary, they also offer flexibility within that framework. Families can enjoy pre-planned activities and sightseeing, but they also have the freedom to opt-out or modify certain aspects to cater to their specific needs or preferences. This provides a balance between convenience and flexibility, allowing families to personalise their experience to some extent.

  • How do meals work?

The food provided on a guided family holiday can vary depending on the destination and specific itinerary. However, there are some general expectations regarding the types of food you can experience. Here are a few possibilities:

    1. Local cuisine: Guided family holidays often prioritise offering authentic local culinary experiences. This means you can expect to sample traditional dishes and flavors of the destination you are visiting. It's an excellent opportunity for families to explore the local food culture and try regional specialties.

    2. Family-friendly options: We understand the needs and preferences of families and strive to provide food options that appeal to both adults and children. Tours often include family-friendly choices such as pasta, pizza, sandwiches, grilled meats, and salads. These options tend to be familiar and appealing to younger travellers.

    3. Buffet or set menus: Meals on guided family holidays can be organised in different formats. Some tours may offer buffet-style meals, allowing families to select from a variety of dishes and cater to individual preferences. In other cases, set menus may be provided, featuring a predetermined selection of courses. This allows families to experience a range of flavors and local specialties.

    4. Dietary accommodations: Tours are usually accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions and preferences. It's important to inform us in advance about any dietary requirements or allergies within your family. They will make an effort to provide suitable alternatives or make arrangements with restaurants to cater to specific needs.

    5. Snacks and picnic lunches: Guided family holidays often include snacks and picnic lunches during day trips or outdoor activities. These can consist of sandwiches, fruits, snacks, and beverages, providing energy and sustenance during excursions. Picnic lunches allow families to enjoy meals in scenic locations and add a sense of adventure to the dining experience.

    6. Culinary experiences: Some guided family holidays may offer special culinary experiences such as cooking classes, visits to local markets, or food tastings. These experiences provide an interactive and educational element to the trip, allowing families to learn about local ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavours.

It's important to note that the specific food offerings can vary depending on the destination's culinary traditions, the style of the tour, and any dietary restrictions or preferences communicated in advance. It's recommended to check with the tour operator for more details regarding the food arrangements on the specific guided family holiday you are interested in.

  • What accommodation could we expect?

The type of accommodation provided on a guided family holiday can vary depending on the operator, destination, and the level of comfort chosen for the trip. Here are some common types of accommodations you can expect:

    1. Hotels: Guided family holidays often include stays at hotels. The specific category of hotels can range from budget to luxury, depending on the tour and preferences. Hotels generally provide comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, amenities such as Wi-Fi, TV, and in-room facilities. Family-friendly hotels may offer additional services and amenities, such as family rooms, children's play areas, swimming pools, and on-site restaurants.

    2. Resorts: Some guided family holidays may include stays at resorts, especially if the destination is a beach or leisure-oriented location. Resorts often offer a wide range of amenities and facilities, such as swimming pools, water parks, kids' clubs, sports facilities, and organized activities for both children and adults. These accommodations provide a comprehensive experience where families can relax, enjoy recreational activities, and spend quality time together.

    3. Lodges or cabins: In certain destinations, guided family holidays may include stays in lodges or cabins, particularly if the itinerary focuses on nature, wildlife, or outdoor adventures. Lodges or cabins are often situated in scenic locations, such as national parks or remote areas, providing a unique and immersive experience. They can range from rustic to more luxurious accommodations, offering a cozy and intimate setting for families.

    4. Homestays or guesthouses: Some guided family holidays may incorporate homestays or guesthouse experiences, allowing families to stay with local families or in smaller, family-run accommodations. This offers an opportunity to immerse in the local culture, interact with residents, and gain a deeper understanding of the destination. Homestays or guesthouses can provide a more intimate and authentic experience, although they may have fewer amenities compared to hotels or resorts.

    5. Unique accommodations: Depending on the tour and destination, guided family holidays may include stays in unique accommodations to enhance the overall experience. This could include treehouses, yurts, farm stays, or eco-lodges. These unconventional accommodations provide a sense of adventure, novelty, and connection with nature, creating lasting memories for families.

Our team can provide a great deal more information about the accommodation on any particular tour.

  • Will other families be on the same tour?

Yes, on a group family holiday, it's common to have other families traveling together in the same tour group. Group family holidays are designed to bring together like-minded families who are seeking a shared travel experience. This provides an opportunity for children to interact and make new friends while allowing parents to connect with other adults in a similar life stage.

Traveling with other families can enhance the overall experience by fostering a sense of community and creating a fun and social atmosphere. Children can bond over shared adventures, engage in group activities, and enjoy the company of peers throughout the journey. Parents can exchange travel tips, share parenting experiences, and form lasting friendships with other families who may have similar interests and values.

It's worth noting that the size of the group can vary depending on the tour operator and destination. Some group family holidays may have smaller, more intimate groups, while others may have larger groups with more families. The group size can influence the dynamics and level of interaction among families.

If you prefer a smaller group setting or more personalised experience, it's advisable to inquire with the tour operator about the typical group size and their policies regarding group composition. They can provide more details about the number of families you can expect to travel with and any specific arrangements they have in place to ensure a positive group dynamic.

Overall, group family holidays offer an opportunity to connect with other families, create shared memories, and enjoy a sense of camaraderie throughout the journey.

  • Will we get free time?

Yes, free time is typically incorporated into guided family holidays to allow families to have some flexibility and independence during their trip. While guided tours provide structure and organised activities, they also recognise the importance of downtime.

During free time, families have the opportunity to explore the destination at their own pace, engage in activities of their choice, or simply relax and enjoy the surroundings. This can involve exploring local markets, visiting attractions not included in the guided itinerary, or simply taking leisurely strolls to soak up the local atmosphere. Free time allows families to pursue individual interests or spend quality time together in a more relaxed setting.

The duration and frequency of free time can vary depending on the specific tour itinerary and the activities planned. Some days may have more structured activities with less free time, while others may offer longer periods to independently explore the destination. Your tour operator should provide a detailed itinerary that outlines the planned activities and highlights any scheduled free time.

During free time, your tour guide or tour operator may offer recommendations for optional activities, dining options, or local points of interest. They can also provide information about transportation, safety guidelines, and any specific considerations for exploring the destination independently. Utilizing the expertise of the tour guide can help ensure that your free time is well-spent and aligned with your family's interests.

It's important to remember that guided family holidays strike a balance between organized activities and free time, allowing families to enjoy the benefits of both structured exploration and individual leisure.
