India & Pakistan Conflict - An Update - 7th May 2025

As of May 7, 2025, tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated significantly following a deadly terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. On April 22, gunmen opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, resulting in 26 deaths, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese citizen. The Resistance Front, a group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack The Washington Post.

In response, India launched "Operation Sindoor," conducting missile strikes on nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which it identified as terrorist infrastructure. Peru - Back To Normal

The political driven disruption in Peru in late 2022 and early 2023 has reduced and as a result tours are now running normally we are delighted to report. Should the situation change we shall of course update our website and any passengers who have booked on to affected trips.

An Update

Amazon is to launch a PCR test kit for £34.99.  Please click here to visit Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/

The UK government have introduced some 'lite' lockdown measures and have re-introduced PCR testing for those arriving in the UK. We recommend visiting the government website related to Covid for the specific policies regarding travel:

An Update

Travel is slowly becoming easier. There are some key headlines we'd like to highlight if you're looking to book an adventure.

1. Vaccination Status

Tour operators we work with are operating with differing policies. Some insist that all travellers are vaccinated and will require proof whilst others are happy for customers to present proof, often via a PCR test, prior to departure. Due to the differing policies we suggest you check with our team who are on hand to answer any questions.

2. Changing Dates

It remains possible in almost all cases to change your dates of travel for free so long as the changes are made in good time. Again, our partners are employing varying policies. If you're making a boking or have an existing booking our team will be able to advice the cut off date when changes start to incur fees.

3. Refunds

If your adventures is cancelled due to Covid then you're entitle to a full refund. We still recommend caution before booking your flight.

New International Travel System

  • 8 countries will move from the red list on Sept 22nd
  • The Amber list will be scrapped
  • Fully vaccinated travellers can use lateral flow tests instead of PCR
  • Fully vaccinated travellers will no longer need to take a pre-departure test

A simplified system for international travel in light of the success of the UK’s domestic vaccine rollout has been announced, providing greater stability for industry and passengers.

The current traffic light system will be replaced by a single red list of countries and green countries.

Testing requirements will be reduced for fully vaccinated travellers, who will no longer need to take a pre-departure test when travelling to England from Monday 4 October 4am.

From the end of October, fully vaccinated passengers and those with an approved vaccine from a select group of non-red countries will be able to replace their day 2 PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow test.

Anyone testing positive will need to isolate and take a confirmatory PCR test, at no additional cost to the traveller.

Testing for unvaccinated passengers from non-red countries will include pre-departure tests, day 2 and day 8 PCR tests. Test to release remains an option to reduce self-isolation period.

From 4 October, England will welcome fully vaccinated travellers from a host of new countries – who will be treated like returning fully vaccinated UK travellers – including 17 countries and territories such as Japan and Singapore, following the success of an existing pilot with the US and Europe.

Vaccination Policies

As the vaccination rollout continues around the world many of our partners are introducing vaccination policies which will be applicable to all travellers.

Most partners are requiring every passenger to be fully vaccinated and / or a mix of PCR testing.

There isn't a 'one policy fits all' approach yet to either our partners running the tours nor government boarders and entry policy.

If you already have a boking or are thinking about making a booking please contact our team if you're unsure about or would like to find out more information regards the vaccination and travellers policies.

You can contact our team on telephone number 0208 004 8886 or email on hello@theadventurepeople.com and of course you are able to chat on our website too.

Amber List Quarantine Update

From the BCC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-57760251

"Transport Secretary Grant Shapps begins his statement by saying he does not underestimate for a second just how difficult the past 18 months have been for people who have been unable to travel to see their families and for the aviation sector.

But he says thanks to the vaccination programme we are now in a position where we can start to look at how we can live with coronavirus while returning life to a sense of normality.

"I can confirm today from 19 July UK residents who are fully vaccinated through the UK vaccine rollout will no longer have to self-isolate when they return to England."

They will still have to take a pre-departure test three days before they go and a PCR test on or before day two. He says this applies to people 14 days after their second jab.

He says they will no longer be required to take a day 8 test, meaning the requirements for green and amber list countries are the same."

Portugal Update

For UK residents - from BBC News:

Tourists from the UK will be allowed to visit Portugal from Monday, the country's minister of state for foreign affairs has said.

Anyone arriving in the country will need to have had a PCR test 72 hours before departure, according to Visit Portugal, the website developed by the country's National Tourism Authority.

Work is also under way to ensure there is enough testing capacity in Portugal, it adds.

The announcement comes despite Portugal extending its "state of public calamity" on the mainland - the second highest level of alert - for a further 15 days from Monday, until 30 May.

Authorities in the UK already announced that travellers from England and Scotland wouldn't have to quarantine upon their return from Portugal and other "green list" countries from 17 May.

However, those countries have their own restrictions on who can visit.

At present, Portugal allows flights to and from the UK, but only for essential travel, such as for business, study, family reasons, health or humanitarian reasons.

Those travel restrictions will only be lifted from 17 May.

UK Travel Update - The Traffic Light System

The following update is for our UK customers who wish to travel. The UK government recently announced a traffic light system which informs people of where they can travel to for leisure purposes or put another way, where you can go on holiday.

Despite the list we would always recommend though you check with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for the latest and up to date information.

Please click here to reach the FCO and the lists of Green, Amber and Red countries (scroll towards the bottom of the page).

Below is a picture showing the requirement in terms of testing, isolation etc for the Green, Amber and Red countries. As it stands leisure travel is only permitted for Green countries.

If You've Booked Onto A Trip

If your destination country moves to Amber or Red and you can't travel due to government restrictions you'll be offered a full refund or date change.

If you are able to travel eg: there are no travel restrictions from the UK government or the destination government then normal cancellation terms apply.

If a country changes status while you're travelling we will not be able to issue any compensation and / or support any isolation costs.

RISK FREE BOOKING

As I write we are in lockdown for the third time here in the UK. These are difficult days and weeks but we remain optimistic that later this year travel will be much easier. With that in mind we wanted to provide an update on some common questions we receive and the benefits of booking with The Adventure People.

DATE CHANGE & FLEXIBILITY

If you need to change the date of your tour you can do so with no extra charges. If your new date prices are a little higher you'll need to pay the extra but if your new dates have lower prices we can refund the difference.

LOW DEPOSITS

You can secure your space on an adventure from as little as £1.

FINANCIAL & ATOL PROTECTION

Unlike most other travel companies we run a TRUST account and CLIENT account. In short this means if you book with us your money is passed to either of the accounts and not our business account. Should anything happen to The Adventure People you'll be able to either continue with your booking or receive a refund. We only receive your money after your tour has started.

Not only that but we also have an ATOL license issued by the Civil Aviation Authority which allows us to sell flights. ATOLs are difficult to obtain and are a mark of our protection in place for customers.

Finally we are also a member of ABTA whom with which we have a bond in case anything happens to The Adventure People which means your money is protected.

CANCELLATIONS

If your tour is cancelled by the operator you can either have a full refund for the tour, change your dates or keep a credit with The Adventure People to use against a future tour.

If you cancel your tour then full cancellation terms will apply.

PAYMENT PLANS

We offer three types of plan:

1. Book with a low deposit and pay the balance before the start sate. The payment can change but is anything from 7 days before to 60 days before the start date.

2. Monthly Payment Plans. Book with a low deposit and then spread the cost of X months before your start date.

3. Pay the full balance immediately !

You can choose which plan you prefer on our payment page or by speaking to our team.

If you have any further questions and / or concerns please do make contact as soon as you can.

Best wishes,

Chris

---------- Updated 23rd June 2020. ----------

Travel restrictions have been lifted for lots of destinations and whilst we see temporary quarantine measures, slowly but surely travel is returning to normal.

We have listed some of the most common questions regarding travelling but please get in touch if you have any concerns.

Is my tour running?

The vast majority of tours have been cancelled up to 31st March 2021 and although some are running we're expecting some further cancellations. If this happens for a tour you're booked on we shall of course be in touch immediately.  If in doubt please contact our team on hello@theadventurepeople.com or please call.

We have contacted all customers who are due to travel during this time with more information.

Please bear with us during this extremely busy time as we are prioritising travellers with imminent departures or those who are already on their tours.

We will update you with any information about changes to your tour. If you do not hear from us then your tour will be running as normal. We are in contact with all our operators to ensure we have all the latest information.

Can I cancel or change my tour?

If your tour is departing as planned you will be charged the relevant cancellation fees which you agreed to at the time of booking.

Many operators have amended their cancellation policies in light of the situation so please get in touch and we can help.

Most operators are allowing free date changes, please contact us and we can help if you'd like to make arrangements.

What if my tour is suspended due to coronavirus?

If your tour is suspended we will inform you straight away with information from the operator.  We will go through all your options with you at this point to make sure you have all the information.

Will I be denied entry to certain countries?

Some countries have been changing their entry guidelines and policies for individuals arriving from certain countries in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus. This includes changes to Visa procedures or quarantine rules when you arrive.

Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality.

For UK passport holders, you can check the Foreign Office's advice on the following link - https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

It is important that you keep checking for the most up to date situation as requirements are changing on a regular basis. You can sign up to receive updates on the FCO website and get all updates emailed as they happen.

What precautions should I take on my trip?

The World Health Organisation recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, and avoid touching your face after you’ve touched surfaces such as doorknobs and elevator buttons in public areas. If you are using gel make sure it has at least a 60% alcohol rate.

The World Health Organisation advises wearing a mask if you have symptoms such as coughing or sneezing. They can help stop the spread of infection, but they aren’t guaranteed to reduce the risk of infection for those who are otherwise healthy.
