Philippines Tours

When you initially think of The Philippines it may be slightly intimidating due to the insane number of islands (over 7,500) but don’t let that put you off, the Philippines is truly worth it – trust us! It’s got to be, it’s been awarded one of the happiest countries in the world after all…

A lot of our trips will start in the bustling, vibrant city of Manila and head south for a more ‘Island Hopping Experience’. The Philippines is a truly unique country, from its Chocolate Hills to active volcanos, and from pristine turquoise waters to undiscovered islands, it’s a once in a lifetime destination.

Head to the West Islands and in particular to the island of Palawan to visit El Nido, a beautiful calm and laid back destination, now well known for their local efforts in being more eco-friendly and saving the planet. Or how about somewhere where you can really let your hair down? Boracay is absolutely this place, with it’s stunning beachfront restaurants and late night chill out bars, it really is a mecca for like minded people from all around the world. How heading off the beaten trackl to the East Islands? We know it’s not as well known but with incredible destinations like Cebu and Moalboal, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Even less spoken about and visited by tourists is the North of the Philippines. Here you can explore many volcanoes, including Mount Pinatubo and Taal Volcano, one of the smallest in the world. You can even raft on Pandin Lake, see the local rice terraces, visit sand dunes in the north or even stop by the Sagada burial caves. They won’t be for everyone but it is definitely worth learning about the incredible history!

Whether it be island hopping, trekking active volcanoes, deep sea diving or spotting the famous Tarsiers, the Philippines has it all. Less travelled than a lot of it’s Southeast Asian counterparts, the Philippines is a real hidden gem!

  • How can I get there?

Most of our adventures begin in the capital Manila. There are many airlines that fly between the UK and Manila, with direct flights available from London with Philippine Airlines. This non-stop route generally takes around 13/14 hours each way. Flying with other airlines or from elsewhere in the UK will require minimum 1 stop each way on the way to Manila.

We can help with flights from any country over to the Philippines, we don’t just do from the UK! You can even get flights from Los Angeles, New York, New Zealand and Australia with Philippine Airlines, so it’s very accessible for a lot of people.

  • When is the best time to go?

Being a tropical country, the Philippines has a warm climate year round, so expect hot weather whenever you travel. From December to February, the temperature lowers slightly, making this a great time to visit. The typhoon season runs from July to October - you can expect high rainfall, and strong winds during this time, so it’s best to travel outside of these months. The Phillipines span over 7000 islands, so in saying that, the weather can be quite diverse, depending on which area you are visiting.

  • Do I need a Visa?

Currently at the time of writing this most nationalities do not require a visa to enter the Philippines if you are staying for less than 30 days.

However we do recommend checking with your consulate and / or embassy as the regulations can and do change for any given nationality. For UK Citizens this will be the Foreign Travel Advice - which you can find HERE.

To gain entry into the Philippines you will need your return air ticket, your passport with at least 6 months validation left to go and your visa if indeed you require one.

  • How should I budget for my trip?

The official currency of the Philippines is the Peso (PHP).

You’ll find plenty of ATM’s in the larger cities such as Manila, but ATMs may not be as easily found in the more rural areas or on the islands. Credit cards can be used in large cities, but when travelling outside of these cities, make sure you have enough Pesos with you.

Tipping is not compulsory in the Philippines, but small change would be appreciated by restaurants, drivers and other service workers.

What would I pay for a…

    Coffee - £1.50 / USD1.95

    Beer - £1.30 / USD1.70

    Meal at a restaurant - £10 / USD13.00

The Philippines can be a great budget destination if you don’t want to spend much and you're willing to give the local street food a try, but you’ll also find some nicer restaurant options if that’s more your thing.

  • How safe is it there?

The vast majority of trips are trouble free, but as with any trip it’s important to be vigilant.

A few things to take note of is you should take care of your belongings and be careful of any bags that you have over your shoulder. Make use of your hotel safe for your valuables if you have one. Be wary of strong current and rips when swimming, and avoid overcrowded boats.

Only use reputable taxi services, or pre-arranged hotel transfers when arriving at the airport. So really, just use your common sense.

Always listen to the advice of your guide - they are there to make sure you have a safe and hassle free adventure!

For further safety advice, it is best to check with your local government advice. For UK citizens - please that’s the Foreign Office - HERE

It is advised by the UK foreign office not to travel to western and central Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago

  • Do I need any vaccinations?

You may need some vaccinations before you travel and we strongly advise you to see your GP and / or visit your pharmacy as they'll be able to provide assistance as well as give you the most up to date advice in any vaccines you may require before travel. There are many NHS travel clinics around that will have records of previous jabs and will be able to tell you what you'll need for your trip.

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our trips so please ensure you take a policy out before travelling.

  • Helpful Information

While the Philippines is less conservative than some of its neighbouring countries, it pays not to wear any very short or revealing clothing, out of respect for the country and culture.

It is not recommended to drink the tap water in the Philippines. Try to bring a reusable water bottle rather than buying multiple plastic bottles on your trip. Your leader will be able to direct you on where to find filtered water.

Try some local food! The Philippines has a mix of influences including Chinese, Spanish and American, and while not as famous as perhaps other South East Asian cuisine, it’s still very tasty. Adobo is a popular dish in the Philippines, considered by some to be the national dish. Be sure to give it a try.
