There is no 'bad' time! to visit the Serengeti however there are certain months of the year which may offer some different experiences.

You may want to time your visit with The Great Migration which timing can change every year but is often during the dry season which runs from June to October. The calving season for Wildebeest is throughout January and February, this is maybe one of the most underrated experiences of the Serengeti.

The wet season runs from March to May and although the weather is a little poorer / wetter than dry season there are some benefits of visiting during these months namely there are less visitors and prices are generally a little lower.

The short answer is yes you will see wildlife. On any tour you're with a very experienced guide who knows where to go, when to go and has intimate knowledge about particular animal groups. It's also worth knowing that all guides communicate frequently and so share information about what is happening in the park, this helps make sure any visit is the best it can be.

However, it is always worth having front of mind that you're seeing wild animals. There is no script. They may decide to hide however unlikely. Whilst it is almost certain you'll see lots of wildlife you should at least consider the possibility that you might not see as much as you'd like.

Not much but we'd say a camera, a hat, sun cream, sunglasses and more sun cream. These are the essentials for your time out in the park and not to be forgotten!
