  • Day 2

    Exploring Bangkok

Hopefully you've enjoyed a good sleep and are ready to go!

This morning you'll explore Bangkok from the magnificent temples to the Chao Phraya River running through the city. This tour will give you a locals insight into daily life and the bustle of one of Asia's largest cities.

A tour of Bangkok that includes the famous temples and Grand Palace is a must-see experience for anyone visiting the vibrant city.

Start your day by exploring the Grand Palace, a stunning complex that was once the official residence of the Kings of Siam. Marvel at the intricate architecture and design of the buildings, including the majestic Emerald Buddha temple.

Next, visit Wat Pho, home to the impressive Reclining Buddha statue and known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Take your time to wander through the temple complex and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

  • Day 3

Transfer to Surant Thani (Train or Plane)

Today you have a choice! The usual itinerary is a day in Bangkok at your leisure before you take a late afternoon and overnight train to Surat Thani where we'll venture into Khoa Sok National park.

Taking the overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani offers a unique and scenic way to travel through southern Thailand. This journey provides a glimpse into the country's diverse landscapes, with views of lush countryside and small villages passing by the window. The train's sleeper cabins, equipped with comfortable beds, allow passengers to rest as they travel, making it a convenient option for those looking to maximize their time. The rhythmic motion of the train and the subdued hum of the engine create a calming atmosphere, perfect for unwinding. The train station is just a few kms from the hotel.

Your bunk beds would be in the air conditioned sleeper carriage opposite or next to each other. It is possible to book private cabins but the cabins have only two beds. We can book two private cabins for a family of four with one adult and child in each but we can't guarantee they'd be next to each other. There is a small supplement for this service.

Alternatively, we can arrange an internal flight (which is much, much quicker) which means an extra night at your accommodation in Bangkok. There may be a little extra cost in arranging the flight but honestly, not that much. We keep the train as the default option as those families particularly with teenage children, often want the experience of sleeping on the overnight train. You can make this decision after your booking and our team are on hand to make arrangements for you.
