  • Day 3

    Agra

Set eyes on the sparkling Taj Mahal at sunrise before exploring more of this famous landmark. In the afternoon, visit the I'timad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj) and the Agra Fort.

  • Day 4

    Agra/Dhula Village

Stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the now-deserted former capital of the Mughals, and a stunningly preserved UNESCO site. Visit the Abhaneri Stepwell and marvel at this uniquely Indian water harvesting system. In the afternoon, travel to Dhula Village and get a closer look at rural life in Rajasthan. Tonight, settle in to your cozy tent then opt to relax by the fire and take in the starry night sky. At Dhula Village you will have the opportunity to learn about local life, play a fun game of cricket, relax in the peaceful atmosphere, or take a cycle to explore the surroundings.

Tonight's accommodation is in spacious and comfortable tents outfitted with beds, lamps, and simple en suite bathrooms.

  • Day 5

    Dhula Village/Jaipur

Continue to the pink city of Jaipur. Along the way, try your hand at block printing with the women of the Anoothi Project before arriving at your hotel. Built according to Hindu architectural principles, Jaipur utilizes a unique organization unlike anywhere else in India.

  • Day 6

    Jaipur

Enjoy a visit to the Amber Fort, famous for its mixture of Hindu and Muslim architecture. After, visit the City Palace and have a photo opportunity at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds). Opt to get active by pre-booking a cycle tour or sharpen your culinary skills by pre-booking a cooking class with a local family.

  • Day 7

    Jaipur/Delhi

If you aren't afraid of heights, opt for a morning hot air balloon ride over Jaipur. Return to Delhi in the afternoon and enjoy free time to explore more of the bustling city. Admire the Pink City from above by pre-booking the morning Jaipur Balloon Ride when booking your tour.

  • Day 8

    Delhi/Srinagar

Fly from Delhi to Srinagar, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Join an evening orientation walk through the famous Lal Bazar market area alongside your CEO.

  • Day 9

    Srinagar

Today we'll learn why Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. With the stunning Dal Lake, beautiful gardens and historic temples, you'll quickly see why Srinagar is so magnificent.

  • Day 10

    Srinagar

Join your group for an unforgettable sunrise from the deck of a Shikara, a traditional Jammu and Kashmir style boat. Pay a visit to what's considered the oldest temple in all of Jammu and Kashmir, the Shankaracharya Temple. The rest of the day is yours to explore Srinagar. We recommend a safari at Dachigam National Park to spot the Royal Kashmir stag. Tonight we will stay on a houseboat on Dal Lake.

  • Day 11

    Srinagar/Pahalgam

Drive to Pahalgam and stop at the Avantipura Temple Ruins and Martand Sun Temple on the way. Arrive to Pahalgam in the afternoon and join an orientation walk of the bazaar and down town area.

  • Day 13

    Sonamarg/Lamayuru

Cross the border into the next Indian union territory of Ladakh, known for its high-altitude cold Himalayan desert and often referred to as "Little Tibet." On the way stop and visit the Kargil War Memorial. In Lamayuru, we will be staying in the guesthouse of the Lamayuru Monastery, an incredible opportunity to witness the activities of the monks.

  • Day 14

    Lamayuru/Leh

Travel deeper into the Ladakh region as we head to Leh today. On the way, stop at Sangam point, a beautiful lookout point where the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet. Next stop is at the optical illusion known as "Magnetic Hill," a gravity hill where a downhill road appears to be uphill, making vehicles in neutral seem to roll upwards. This phenomenon is caused by the layout of the surrounding landscape and slopes, creating the illusion. Third stop is to Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a significant Sikh pilgrimage site. Arrive to Leh and join an orientation walk of the Leh Market.

  • Day 15

    Leh

Spend today exploring Leh on your terms. As Ladakh's biggest city, there is much to do and see.

  • Day 16

    Leh

Dive head first into historic Leh today on a tour of the Old City. Learn about its unique connection to Tibet as you wander the narrow, winding streets. Then continue to the Central Asian Museum to learn about Ladakh's connection to the Silk Road. Enjoy the beauty of the town with an evening visit to Thiksey Monastery and the Shanti Stupa. Tonight, opt to join an astronomy experience with local women of Leh.

  • Day 17

    Leh/Nubra Valley

Drive across one of the highest motorways in the world as we head to Nubra Valley. On the way, visit the colourful Diskit Monastery, the incredible Sumur Sand Dunes and connect with local Ladakhi culture at the Kyagar House.

  • Day 18

    Nubra Valley

Check into the homestay then walk alongside your CEO to Pangong Lake for an easy yet rewarding hike! Tonight, join your homestay host for some stargazing in this remote village.

  • Day 20

    Pangong Tso/Leh

Make the most of your lake time and rise early for a special morning yoga session by the beach for all levels. Afterwards, fill up on breakfast before starting the drive back to Leh. The first stop of the day is to Rezang La Memorial, an important monument from the 1962 War. The next stop brings us to a nomadic settlement where we will learn about the luxurious pashmina cashmere. Then arrive to Leh in the evening for free time.

  • Day 21

You'll explore timeless monuments in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, experience peaceful houseboats in Kashmir, trek through lush valleys, and ascend into Ladakh to witness moonscapes, ancient monasteries, and Pangong Lake.
  • What type of accommodation can I expect on this tour?

You will stay in a variety of accommodations including simple hotels (16 nights, twin-share), homestays (3 nights), a camp site (1 night), and a house boat (1 night). Please note that hotels may not always be up to Western standards, and power cuts can occur. Properties with only two stories may not have elevators.
  • How large will the group be for this tour?

The maximum group size for this tour is 18 travelers.
  • Are meals included in the tour price?

The tour includes 8 breakfasts and 4 dinners. Generally, other meals are not included to provide flexibility in choosing where and what to eat, but your CEO can suggest local restaurants. India is very accommodating for vegetarians.
  • What modes of transportation are used during the trip?

Transportation includes private vehicles, planes (for the domestic flight from Delhi to Srinagar), boats (Shikara ride), jeeps, and walking. Be prepared for varied road and train conditions compared to Western countries.
  • Are flights included in the cost of the trip?

International flights are generally not included. All local flights within India are included in the cost of your tour. Please provide passport information at booking, and note that internal flights allow only one piece of luggage up to 15kgs.
  • What are the visa and entry requirements for India?

All travelers must have a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity) and a valid Indian visa prior to the start of their tour. An e-Visa may be available for some nationalities. Non-Indian nationals must also complete an e-Arrival Card online before arrival.
  • Is travel insurance required for this trip?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. You will not be permitted to join the group without evidence of travel insurance, which must include a minimum of USD 200,000 for medical coverage, repatriation, and emergency rescue.
  • What is the recommended dress code for this tour?

India is very conservative. As a general guideline, shoulders and knees should be covered at all times. Loose, lightweight, long clothing is recommended. Shorts are not allowed as they may restrict entry into religious sites and family homes. A light water and windproof jacket is useful, and a hat is essential, especially given it can be very cold in the hills from December to February.
  • What is an 'Emergency Fund' and how much should I bring?

An 'emergency' fund of at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) is recommended. This is for unforeseen circumstances outside of our control, such as natural disasters, that may require a change to the planned route.
  • What is the role of the Chief Experience Officer (CEO) on this tour?

The Chief Experience Officer (CEO) accompanies the group throughout the trip, providing information, suggestions for activities and local eateries, and introducing you to local friends. They have a broad general knowledge of the countries visited and are there to enhance your travel experience and manage the trip logistics.
  • Are there any health considerations I should be aware of before traveling?

It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information and required inoculations well before departure. We recommend carrying a First Aid kit, hand sanitizers, and any personal medical requirements. Our leaders are prohibited from administering drugs.
  • What should I know about safety and security on this trip?

We strongly recommend using a neck wallet or money belt for valuables and leaving expensive jewelry at home. Many hotels have safety deposit boxes. Always lock your luggage. During free time, use your own judgment when selecting activities, stay in small groups at night, and take taxis. Avoid protests and participate in water-based activities only when accompanied by a guide.
  • What are some optional activities available on this tour?

Optional activities include a Half Day Culinary Tour of Delhi, a Jaipur Cycle Tour, a Jaipur Cooking Class with a local family, a Jaipur Balloon Ride, a safari at Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, an Astronomy Experience in Leh, and a visit to Alchi Monastery and Likir Village.
  • What should solo travelers know about accommodation arrangements?

Our group trips are designed for shared accommodation without a single supplement. Solo travelers are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. The only exception is Night 19 (homestay in Pangong Lake).
  • What is the minimum age to participate in this tour?

The minimum age to travel unaccompanied is 18. For minors traveling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.
  • How should I manage money and currency exchange during the tour?

The local currency is Indian Rupees (INR). ATMs are available in major cities and accept Visa and Mastercard. The use of cash, particularly USD, is also recommended. Major credit cards are accepted in most shops but may incur a 2-4% transaction fee.
  • Are laundry facilities available during the trip?

Laundry facilities are offered by some hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap if you plan to do your own laundry.
  • What should I be aware of regarding cultural differences or 'culture shock' in India?

India is very different from Western countries, and you may experience initial culture shock due to pollution, poverty, and crowds. Attitudes towards timekeeping, public cleanliness, privacy, and service can vary significantly. Expect occasional delays, temperamental plumbing, and power cuts. Traveling with patience and a sense of humor will greatly enhance your experience.
  • Will I be with the same group for the entire tour?

This tour combines with other tours, meaning the staff and some travel companions on your trip may have been traveling together before Day 1 or may continue on another tour after yours concludes.
