Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Marrakech

Touchdown in Morocco! The Land of the Sunset, the home to Tagines and a place famous for its crazy markets and breathtaking views. We're starting in Marrakech! In the evening, you'll all meet as a group, begin to get to know each other and start to work out who in the group is the best photographer!

  • Day 2

    Marrakech

Morning TruTravellers! It's our first full day as a group and we are visiting Marrakech's hotpots with our local guide! We'll start at Jardin Majorelle which is an Instagrammers dream. It was created in 1922 and more recently in 1980, it was bought by Yves Saint Laurent who wanted to save it from being turned into a hotel. Thank goodness he did because it really is a special place to visit! Once we've had a group photo in all the iconic spots, we'll head over to Jemaa el-Fna, the main square in Marrakech. You'll have seen photos of this place with all its bustling market stalls. Markets in Morocco are unlike anywhere else so dust off your haggling skills...let's go shopping. In the evening, we will learn how to make the traditional cuisine we'll be trying all week at a local cooking class. If you want to know how to make the perfect tagine, this is your chance!

  • Day 3

    Marrakech/Boumalne Dades

We're heading away from the bustling city and getting our first taste of a more remote Morocco. Today is a bog old travel day, but it is so worth it as we travel closer to the desert and into nature! Monkey Finger's viewpoint along the way is STUNNING, so we'll have to make a stop there!

  • Day 4

    Boumalne Dades/Merzouga

First up today we're heading to Todra Gorge, one of Morocco's must-see areas. It’s like something out of Indiana Jones although luckily for us there’ll be no giant boulder chasing us today. After we've explored the Gorge, we're heading to our next destination - Merzouga. This is what we've all been waiting for - we're heading to the desert!

  • Day 5

    Merzouga

It’s the literal hump day because today we’re off on a camel trek! First up though we will have a chilled morning, have a lie in, have a swim and take the day at a slower pace! Then chakras at the ready for an epic sandboarding experience in the heart of the desert. Want to know the best part of today? Well, it's got to be our sleepover on the sand dunes! We'll head over to the campsite, meet the locals who are taking us in for the night and settle into our temporary, magical home! After a super busy and exciting day, we’ll have worked up an appetite so we'll be more than ready for a delicious traditional meal whilst we watch the sunset amongst the dunes. Someone called Lizzie McGuire because "This is what dreams are made of!"

  • Day 6

    Merzouga/Ouarzazate

Did you sleep well? Of course, you did! After a night in the desert we’ll have a stunning morning watching the sunrise and pinching ourselves cause surely this isn't real life!? What could be better than getting back to basics with a night in the desert, surrounded by amazing people and even better views? Sadly though we can't stay here forever so we'll move on to our next stop: Ait Ben Haddou. It's an iconic landscape that has been used in countless famous films and series such as Games Of Thrones so get your cameras at the ready for some epic photos.

  • Day 7

    Ouarzazate/Imlil

Look at the epic views as we cross the Tichka Pass and get some awesome photos along the way. We told you that Morocco is a photographer's dream! Once we arrive in Imlil, we'll soak in the views, dip in the pool and relax after a busy few days!

  • Day 8

    Imlil/Marrakech

We’re going back to where it all began! We’ll have a morning walk to a waterfall before travelling back to Marrakech. Back in the hustle and bustle, we'll enjoy a final wander around the markets and soak in the incredible atmosphere. You'll also get a chance to experience some things you might have missed the first time around.

  • Day 9

    Marrakech

Tissues at the ready! All good things must come to an end, and after 9 amazing days discovering the best of Morocco, it's time to say goodbye. We ate like kings, saw the most breathtaking views and had THE most fun! We’ve created memories to last a lifetime and taken enough pics to spam your Instagram for the next 12 months. Your tour guide is on hand for any help with onward travel plans you might have if today doesn’t mark the end of your travel adventure! You’re part of the TruFam now, and that’s for life, so it’s not goodbye; it’s see you later!

Customer reviews & ratings

  • I don’t think there is enough hours in the day for me to write how amazing Driss is as a guide. From the very beginning he was amazing. He was so welcoming and made everyone feel welcome and gave a warm, and happy smile when meeting him. He always seemed happy to see you. He took his time to make sure everybody was here and ok, and always looked after everyone. He went above and beyond to help anyone in need and went above and beyond to help a girl on our trip who was sick, and I think Driss showed immense leadership and care. He’s so passionate about Morocco, which for me really added to the experience, he showed me how to fall in love with Morocco, and because of this my trip was an unforgettable experience. He always answered our questions and always took time to tell personal stories of his life in Morocco and made sure he gave everyone time. He was also a very fun guide and we had a lot of laughs with him. I’ve never felt more happy and I’ve never laughed so hard like I did in Morocco. Thank you Driss for an amazing trip!!! Amazing guide!!

  • Driss was a fantastic guide and took great care of the group. He was professional, organised and was able to fulfil requests quickly and efficiently. Top marks as a tour guide. This feedback form never has a section for “Suggested Improvements”, so I’ll have to put mine here. See my other notes on the poor Marrakesh accommodation and gluten feedback. One of my favourite meals was with at the local families house. The selection and food quality was amazing! A few members of the group did comment that they weren’t enjoying the repetitive food choices at breakfast and dinner. This is probably a difficult one to change, but more variety, particularly for vegetarians in the group would be welcomed. Cooking class. A fantastic experience, but there isn’t really enough food for dinner as the portion size is so small. If rice could be offered with the Tagine, or shared vegetable bowls, that would make it more of a meal. The ice cream stop on the way home was great and super tasty, but I had to get a late night burger and fries as I was starving by 9.30pm. Long minibus journeys: The only point of tension I saw during the trip was people getting annoyed at the lack of seat rotation on the minibus. It’s way more squashed on the back row, with far less space. I personally sat on the back row most days, as did a couple of other people. However, at least 3 or 4 people in the group never sat in the back row once. Girls will always say they get travel sick so need to be at the front, but honestly 8 or so girls said that in this group. Rather than having girls pushing past people to get on the bus first, it would be good to have an organised rotation system, so everyone takes a turn sitting on the back row. (I understand some people are larger than others, but we had the shortest, most skinny girl in the group hardly sat at the back at all.)
