Day 2
Oslo to Stavanger by Train
Oslo - Stavanger. Transfer independently to the train station - private transfers can be arranged in advance if preferred. Board the train for a scenic journey along Norway’s southern coast, travelling towards the charming city of Stavanger. As we make our way through the countryside, enjoy a constantly changing panorama of dense forests, tranquil lakes, rugged hills, fertile farmland, and peaceful river valleys. It’s a relaxing and picturesque way to experience the natural beauty of southern Norway.
For the best views, sit on the right-hand side of the train when facing forward from Oslo.
On arrival in Stavanger, make your own way to the hotel and check in - private transfers are available on request. The remainder of the day is free to relax or start exploring this historic harbour town, famed for its well-preserved wooden houses, lively cultural scene, and its proximity to the magnificent Lysefjord.
Day 3
Lysefjord Cruise
Join a fjord cruise through the breathtaking Lysefjord - one of Stavanger’s most celebrated natural attractions. Sailing in near silence aboard a modern, battery-powered boat makes this journey through Norway’s dramatic scenery all the more memorable.
We set off directly from the city centre, gliding into the heart of the tranquil fjord landscape. After passing beneath the Lysefjord Bridge - the gateway to this magnificent waterway - we are surrounded by steep, rugged mountains rising dramatically from the water.
Our first stop is Fantahålå, or the Vagabond’s Cave, where legend tells of outlaws once hiding from the sheriff. Soon after, you’ll see one of Norway’s most iconic landmarks - Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), soaring 604 metres above the fjord.
As we continue, admire several striking waterfalls cascading down the cliffs. The crew will steer close to the mighty Hengjanefossen so you can feel the cool mist from its powerful flow. In spring and summer, we often visit the friendly goats grazing on the mountainsides, and with a bit of luck, you may also spot local wildlife such as sea eagles, seals or porpoises. after the cruise, return to Stavanger for the evening.
Day 4
Stavanger to Bergen by Ferry
Stavanger - Bergen. Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel before continuing south towards Bergen - known as the gateway to the fjords. Make your own way to the Stavanger pier (private transfers can be arranged in advance) to board the early ferry departing at 07:30 for a scenic 5.5 hour journey.
As we sail along Norway’s rugged coastline, take in the stunning views of pristine nature, picturesque islands, and charming coastal settlements. We recommend that you book this excursion when you book the tour, as we cannot guarantee availability if booked upon arrival in Norway. By boat we can see amazing views of the steep mountains, lush landscape and green fjords. Fjaerland is the village where the fjord meets the glaciers. Here, we also visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Enjoy Ivo Caprino's panoramic film about Jostedalen Glacier and the fascinating exhibition.
