  • Great but very intense experience! Group was a little too large (especially first 30 days) and that made it less comfortable but overall had a fantastic time. The CEOs made the experience so much more interesting and I really feel like I have truly experienced the culture of each country! Great value for money on the 18-30ish group, fantastic CEOs making everything easier and really good overall itinerary

  • What should I expect from train travel?

Train travel in Vietnam is basic; sleeper trains usually have four berths per compartment and may be shared with people not in your group, potentially of different genders. • What is the physical rating for this tour?

This tour has a physical rating of 3, requiring an average level of fitness and mobility. A medical questionnaire, signed by your physician, is required for pre-existing medical conditions.
  • What are the safety guidelines for the trip?

We recommend using a neck wallet or money belt for valuables, leaving expensive jewelry at home, and using hotel safety deposit boxes. Petty theft, especially bag snatching from motorbikes, can occur in Vietnamese towns; carry minimal cash and wear bags across your neck. Do not jump or dive into Kuang Sii Waterfalls in Luang Prabang. It's also advisable to check your government's travel advice before departure, stay in small groups at night, and use taxis for night excursions. Protests and demonstrations should be avoided immediately.
  • What items are prohibited on Laos' High-Speed Trains?

Prohibited items include flammable materials and liquids (e.g., aerosols, vapes, e-cigarettes, spray deodorants/perfumes), sharp objects (e.g., pocket knives), explosive materials, wet or overpowering-smelling foods, weapons, and drugs. Luggage is limited to 20kg per person.
  • What are the visa and entry requirements for the countries visited?

Visas are the individual traveler's responsibility. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the moment of departure from each country. A colored copy of your passport is required in advance for Laos transport. Specifics vary by nationality; please check with the relevant embassies. For Thailand, an E-Arrival form is required from May 1, 2025. For Vietnam, visas must be arranged in advance. For Laos, an E-Visa or paper form may be required, and an Immigration Card is required from September 1, 2025. Some overnight trains may be unaccompanied by a CEO.
  • What is the tour operator's policy on illegal drugs and exploitation?

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated, as they contravene local laws and put the group at risk. The exploitation of prostitutes is also against our philosophy of respect towards local people. Our CEOs have the right to expel any group member found violating these rules.
  • What is Planeterra and how does it relate to the tour?

Planeterra International Foundation is a non-profit partner committed to turning travel into impact by helping local communities earn an income from tourism. Projects like the local Khmer meal in Siem Reap, Oodles of Noodles in Hoi An, and the Khao Thep Pitak Community-Owned Farm in Ban Ta Khun are supported by Planeterra. The tour operator covers all operating costs, so 100% of donations (like the optional 'Dollar-a-day Program') go directly to Planeterra projects.
  • Are laundry facilities available?

Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap for times when you may need or want to do your own laundry.
  • Is this a combo trip?

Yes, this trip is a combination of multiple tours. As such, the staff and/or particular vehicles operating your tour may change between segments. You may also expect some group members to join or leave the tour between segments. In some major cities in Vietnam, many hotel rooms do not have windows.
  • Is travel insurance required for my trip?

Travel insurance is compulsory to participate in any of our trips. You will not be permitted to join the group until your CEO has sighted evidence of travel insurance. We require a minimum medical coverage of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We strongly recommend coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects. If using credit card insurance, proof of purchase of the trip with a credit card in your name is required.
