Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Warsaw

Arrive at anytime. After settling into your hotel, attend a welcome meeting in the evening with your CEO before heading out for an optional orientation walk and dinner with the group. Warsaw is a vibrant city rich in history and full of stories, having been nearly destroyed in World War II. If you have time, we recommend taking some extra time to fully explore this incredible city.

  • Day 2

    Warsaw/Gdansk

Wave goodbye to Warsaw and board a train bound for Gdansk, travelling through the picturesque Polish countryside. Enjoy some free time on arrival to the hotel before setting off with a local guide on a walking tour of the city's highlights.

  • Day 3

    Gdansk

Set off in the morning with your CEO on an excursion to the nearby city of Sopot, on the Baltic Sea. Stroll along the promenade and see the sights before returning to Gdansk to enjoy the rest of the day free to continue exploring or to relax.

  • Day 4

    Gdansk/Wroclaw

Set off again by train heading south to the city of Wroclaw. In the afternoon, head out on foot with your CEO to see the city's main sights and see why it is sometimes referred to as the "Venice of Poland." Take the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore on your own, perhaps making a stop in the evening at one of the oldest beer cellars in Europe.

  • Day 5

    Wroclaw

Today is a free day in Wroclaw. Choose to wander the city and explore its historical monuments and beautiful architecture, or perhaps take an excursion through the Silesian heartland to the wooden churches of peace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a private organ concert.

  • Day 6

    Wroclaw/Krakow

Depart by train and travel through the countryside toward Krakow. Upon arrival, enjoy some time on your own for lunch before joining a local guide on a walking tour of the city's highlights. Finish off with an 'obwarzanki' cooking class where you'll learn the ins and outs of this bagel-like, traditional speciality. Enjoy your creation, then spend the remainder of the evening at leisure.

  • Day 7

    Krakow

This is a Classic style tour, offering an unforgettable adventure blending history and modern charm in Poland.
  • What are the main highlights of this tour?

You'll discover the medieval old town of Gdansk with a local guide, stroll the promenade of Sopot, marvel at Wrocław’s astronomical clock, immerse yourself in Krakow's old town with a local guide, and learn to prepare a traditional local delicacy called obwarzanki.
  • What kind of accommodation can I expect on this trip?

You will stay in small, family-run hotels or pensions, which are typically clean, safe, and in central locations. Some city hotels might be larger. Please note that most accommodation in Europe does not have air conditioning, but fans can be requested. In Krakow, accommodation is a comfortable modern hostel with double, twin or triple rooms, and bathroom facilities may be shared.
  • What meals are included in the tour price?

Seven breakfasts are included in this tour. Lunches and dinners are not included.
  • What is the typical group size for this tour?

The maximum group size is 16 travelers, with an average of 12.
  • What modes of transportation will be used during the tour?

We will primarily use local trains for intercity travel, supplemented by public transport and walking within cities. Please be aware that public transport can sometimes involve delays and frustrations.
  • Who will be leading the group throughout the tour?

A CEO (Chief Experience Officer) will lead the group throughout the tour, supported by local guides in various cities.
  • Are international flights included in the tour price?

No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. However, on some combo tours, international flights are included as part of the itinerary and price of the tour. Please speak to your GCO or booking agent for further details.
  • Is travel insurance compulsory for this trip?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate on any of our trips. You will need medical coverage with a minimum of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects.
  • What is the minimum age to join this trip?

The minimum age to travel unaccompanied is 18. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.
  • Is there an additional cost for solo travelers?

We believe single travelers should not have to pay more to travel, so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travelers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip.
  • What optional activities are available during the trip?

Optional activities include a visit to Piwnica Swidnicka in Wrocław and an excursion to Auschwitz-Birkenau from Krakow. If you plan to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, you must purchase tickets in advance.
  • What is the local currency and how should I handle money?

The local currency in Poland is the Zloty (PLN). Credit and debit cards are useful for cash advances, but always bring your PIN (many ATM machines only accept 4-digit PINs). It's best to have a combination of local currency and cards, and do not rely solely on cards. An emergency fund of at least USD $200 (or equivalent) is also recommended for unforeseen circumstances.
  • Is tipping customary in Poland?

Yes, tipping is customary in Europe. A general rule is 10% of the bill for wait staff, and a smaller amount (4-8 PLN) for other service providers. For local guides, recommendations range from 12-20 PLN per day. Tipping your CEO (Chief Experience Officer) is also appreciated, with 25-34 PLN per person, per day as a guideline.
  • Are there any health considerations for this trip?

Inoculations may be required, so it's important to consult with your travel doctor well before departure for up-to-date medical travel information. It's also recommended to carry a First Aid kit and hand sanitizers. For legal reasons, our leaders are prohibited from administering any type of drug. The tour operator reserves the right to exclude any traveler from all or part of a trip without refund if in the reasonable opinion of our CEO they are unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group.
  • What are the rules regarding illegal drugs and behavior on the trip?

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. The exploitation of people in the sex trade is completely contrary to our philosophy of travel. Our CEOs have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they utilize the services of paid sex workers.
  • Where can I do laundry during the trip?

Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. There will be times when you may want to or have to do your own laundry, so we suggest you bring non-polluting/biodegradable soap.
  • What should I know about safety and security on my trip?

We recommend checking your government's advice for their latest travel information before departure. It's strongly recommended to use a neck wallet or money belt for valuables. Leave valuable jewelry at home. Many hotels have safety deposit boxes. A lock is recommended for securing luggage. Your CEO has the authority to amend or cancel parts of the itinerary due to safety concerns. While cities are generally safe during the day, at night it's best to stay in small groups and use taxis. Be aware of protests and demonstrations, and leave the area immediately if one is gathering. Participation in water-based activities is at your own risk unless accompanied by a guide(s).
  • What is Planeterra?

Planeterra International Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to turning travel into impact by helping local communities earn income from tourism. They develop and support community-owned businesses, integrating their projects into the tour operator's itineraries globally. The tour operator is Planeterra’s largest corporate donor, covering all operating costs, so 100% of your donation will bring opportunity to people in need through the Dollar-a-day Program.
