The currency in Italy is the Euro. Credit and debit cards are widely useful for cash advances, but ensure you bring a 4-digit PIN as many ATM machines only accept them. Check with your bank about international usage, and be aware that a fee usually applies when purchasing products or services with a credit card.
  • Is tipping customary in Italy?

Yes, tipping is customary in Europe. A general rule is 10% for wait staff and a smaller amount (€1 or €2) for other service providers.
