  • Day 3

    San Ignacio/Caye Caulker

Enjoy the scenery today as it changes from inland jungle to gorgeous beach-front paradise. The group will leave San Ignacio for Belize City in the morning. Enjoy free time in Belize City for lunch on your own and then board a water taxi to the laid-back, chill atmosphere of Caye Caulker. Choose to grab a meal at a local restaurant together with the group and let the inside jokes commence. Many laughs and selfies will be shared as the sun sets on this beautiful island.

  • Day 4

    Caye Caulker

Reach peak relaxation during a full free day in Caye Caulker. Fewer than 2,000 people live here full-time – an eclectic mix of Mestizo, Maya, Garifuna, Creole, and Mennonites, along with a few hippies and retirees. The main street is a sandy pathway and people get around on foot, by bike or golf cart. Choose to pre-book a visit to the Hol Chan Marine reserve, go kayaking, walk around town, swim, or simply work on your tan on a towel in the soft sand. The choice is yours and this is a great way to soak up time on land before taking to the sea on a sailing adventure.

  • Day 5

    Belize Sailing Excursion

Live out those island sailing fantasies as the group departs on an actual sail boat from Caye Caulker this morning to Rendezvous Caye. Get ready for some serious fun! Along today’s route the group will visit Goff's or Sergeant's Caye for two distinct snorkeling experiences. These dives offer immersion into the vibrant marine life of Belize’s Barrier Reef System, the world's second-largest in size and biodiversity. After an incredible lunch prepared by your onboard chef, arrive at Rendezvous Caye, a tiny jewel of a sand bank surrounded by breathtaking turquoise waters and abundant marine life. This is your exclusive island escape! Set up tents and enjoy free time to relax. Sunset on Rendezvous Caye is a memory that will last a lifetime, particularly when enjoyed with refreshing rum cocktails and delicious ceviche. Cheers, everyone! The night before your sailing departure travellers will be asked to divide their belongings into two distinct sets. Secure Storage for bulky luggage. This will contain items not immediately required during the sailing portion of the trip. These belongings will be securely stored in a designated area on the vessel. While accessible, it is requested that retrieval from this storage be limited to essential needs, minimizing disruptions and maximizing valuable deck space. And On-Hand Essentials (Personal Day Bag). This smaller bag, such as a backpack or duffel, should contain all personal necessities for daily use throughout the trip. This includes clothing, toiletries, and any other items you'll want readily available without accessing the main storage. This system ensures immediate access to crucial items while maintaining an organized and uncluttered environment on board.

  • Day 6

    Belize Sailing Excursion

Sail onwards to Tobacco Caye today with snorkelling at Colson Caye, Southern Long Caye Channel, and Caye Glory where the loggerhead turtle and Caribbean stingrays reside. You’ll stay the night on picturesque Tobacco Caye. The island offers a distinct allure for travellers. It is notably larger than the previous island and sits directly atop the Barrier Reef, making it a prime spot for snorkelling with marine life. Feel the island’s vibrant pulse surrounded by brightly coloured wooden houses and swaying coconut palms. Enjoy free time here to stroll, swim, and hang out with a nice cold beverage in your hand. Tonight, enjoy another glorious sunset dinner featuring the fresh catch of the day. Sleep in dorm style rooms tonight. You’ll want someone to pinch you because this kind of paradise really does feel like a dream come true.

Inoculations may be required for Belize. It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information well before departure. It's recommended to carry a First Aid kit, hand sanitizers, and any personal medical requirements, as the tour may be in remote areas away from medical facilities.
  • What is the minimum age to join this trip?

In Caye Caulker, you can pre-book a visit to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve or go on a Guided Kayak Trip (15-20USD).
  • How much emergency money should I bring?

Please make sure you have access to at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) as an 'emergency' fund, to be used when circumstances outside our control require a change to the planned route. This is a rare occurrence.
  • What currency should I use, and what should I know about credit cards?

The currency used is the Belize Dollar (BZD). Credit and debit cards, especially Visa, are useful for cash advances, but their functionality is not guaranteed in Latin America. It's best not to rely on cards as your only source of money; a combination of US dollars cash and cards with traveller's cheques as backup is recommended. Note that a 5-10% fee usually applies for credit card purchases. Ensure notes are in good condition and in denominations lower than 100 USD.
  • Should I be tipping on my trip?

Tipping is customary in Latin America and is an expected, though not compulsory, part of your tour. Recommendations for local guides and drivers range from $5-10 USD per day. For your Chief Experience Officer (CEO), a guideline of $6-10 USD per person, per day is recommended, with additional amounts welcome for outstanding service.

  • Will I get my own room?

If you have booked the 'My Own Room' option for this tour, you will receive your own single room for all night stops.
  • What safety and security information should I know for this trip?

We recommend checking your government's travel advice before departure and using a neck wallet or money belt for valuables. Leave expensive jewellery at home. Many hotels have safety deposit boxes. Your group leader can amend the itinerary for safety reasons. While free time is provided, optional activities are not part of the itinerary, so use your own judgment. Stay in small groups and use taxis at night in cities. Water-based activities carry inherent risks and should only be done with a guide; swimming and snorkeling are always at your own risk.
  • What rules should I know before joining this trip?

Illegal drugs are not tolerated and contravene local laws, risking the group. Smoking marijuana and opium is unacceptable for travellers, even if part of local culture. Exploitation in the sex trade is against our philosophy. CEOs have the right to expel individuals for drug possession or utilizing paid sex workers.
  • When can I do my laundry on this trip?

Some hotels offer laundry facilities for a charge. There may be times when you need to do your own laundry, so bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap is suggested. Laundry service will not be available on the sailing boat.
  • What is Planeterra?

Planeterra International Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to making tourism impactful by helping local communities earn income. They connect underserved communities to tourism benefits by developing and supporting small community-owned businesses, supporting Indigenous people, empowering women, granting youth employment, and protecting the environment. 100% of your donation through their Dollar-a-day Program goes directly to Planeterra projects.
