Day 1
Tokyo Arrival & Sushi-Making Fun
Welcome to Tokyo! Get ready to kick off your epic adventure as you meet your Adventure Leader and fellow travelers at the hostel. After a fun intro and trip briefing, you’ll dive headfirst into Japanese culture with a sushi-making class! Learn from a master chef and roll your way to deliciousness as you create your own sushi dinner.
As night falls, prepare to be wowed by Tokyo’s sparkling skyline from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Feeling social? Head to a local bar for drinks and laughs with your new friends. First drink's on us, but remember: the drinking age in Japan is 20. Day 2
Markets, Temples & Akihabara
Start your morning off right with a visit to the bustling Tsukiji Outer Market, where you can sample some of the freshest sashimi Tokyo has to offer. It’s a sushi lover’s dream!
Next, step back in time as you explore the historic Sensō-Ji Temple in Asakusa. Wander Nakamise-dori, a street packed with tasty local snacks and souvenirs. Feeling adventurous? Grab a street snack or two – you won’t regret it!
In the afternoon, you’ve got options: get up close with sumo wrestlers at lunch, float along the Sumida River on a scenic cruise, or take in jaw-dropping views from Tokyo Skytree. It’s your time to explore! Later, regroup and dive into Akihabara, Tokyo’s neon-lit mecca for anime, electronics, and all things quirky. And for something totally out there, try a “Maid in Tokyo” café, where waitresses in costumes serve with a side of cuteness.
The evening is yours to explore the city’s nightlife or hit up the shops in Ginza. Whatever you choose, Tokyo’s energy will keep you buzzing! Day 3
Shrines, Style & Shibuya
This morning, step into the peaceful oasis of Meiji Shrine, a tranquil spot dedicated to Emperor Meiji. Soak in the calm vibes before heading to Tokyo’s trendiest fashion district – Harajuku! Here, the streets are alive with bold fashion, quirky shops, and endless inspiration. Grab some lunch and embrace your inner fashionista!
After lunch, we’re off to the world-famous Shibuya Crossing – time to experience that iconic Tokyo hustle! Don’t forget to snap a selfie with the adorable Hachiko Statue before you head off on your own mini adventure.
For the thrill-seekers out there, Kartoon Karting is an unmissable chance to zoom through Tokyo’s streets in go-karts. Prebooking is essential at least 6 weeks ahead – don’t miss out!
The rest of the day is yours. Whether it’s exploring the magical digital art of TeamLab, enjoying the serenity of the Imperial Palace, or cruising through the city, Tokyo’s got something for everyone!Day 4
Fujikawaguchi & Majestic Mount Fuji Views
Rise and shine early – today’s all about Japan’s most iconic symbol, Mount Fuji! We’ll head to Fujikawaguchi for jaw-dropping views. First, take in the peaceful vibes at Arakurayama Sengen Park, home to one of Japan’s most picturesque shrines with Fuji as a backdrop.
After a short hike to Tenku no Torii (the Torii Gate by the Sky), get your camera ready for that postcard-perfect view of Mount Fuji. Next, stroll to Mother White’s Waterfall, where you’ll enjoy another stunning photo opportunity.
Afterwards, we’ll make our way back to Tokyo for your final night in this amazing city. Relax or grab a drink with your fellow travelers to toast Tokyo goodbye! Day 5
Kamakura’s Temples & Calligraphy Class
Wave goodbye to Tokyo’s hustle and hop on a train to the beautiful, laid-back town of Kamakura. This charming city is packed with historical temples, and we’ll dive straight in after a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, get creative with a calligraphy class in a peaceful local temple. Discover the ancient art of Japanese writing, and take home your very own piece of calligraphy as a unique souvenir! The rest of the day is free for you to explore Kamakura’s sights. Whether you want to relax on the beach, visit the Great Buddha statue, or wander through Hokokuji Temple’s tranquil bamboo grove, Kamakura’s got plenty to offer! Day 6
Hakone’s Pirate Ships, Ropeway & Onsen Experience
Say goodbye to the seaside vibes of Kamakura and hop on a series of trains and buses as we head to the mountain town of Hakone. Pack light today – we’ll be storing the big bags!
Once we arrive, lace up your hiking boots and explore the Old Tokaido Trail. After working up an appetite, enjoy lunch near Moto-Hakone before setting sail on… a pirate ship! That’s right – you’ll be cruising across the stunning waters of Lake Ashi aboard a pirate ship, with Mount Fuji looming in the background on clear days.
Afterwards, soar over Hakone on the Ropeway to Owakudani, an active volcanic zone famous for its black eggs, rumored to add seven years to your life.
Cap off your day by unwinding in a traditional Japanese onsen (hot spring). Soak in the steamy, sulfuric waters and let all your worries melt away! This onsen can even cater for travellers with tattoos. We'll spend the night in a traditional ryokan where you can experience sleeping on tatami mats! Day 7
Bullet Train to Kyoto
Hop aboard your first bullet train as we zip from Hakone to the ancient city of Kyoto! After dropping your bags off, take a peaceful orientation walk along the Kamo River with your Adventure Leader – the perfect way to get acquainted with Kyoto.
The afternoon is all yours to explore. Whether you want to visit Nishihonganji Temple, stroll through Shosei-en Garden, or dive into Japanese culture at Sanjusangendo, Kyoto has something for everyone.
In the evening, we’ll head out for an optional karaoke night! Time to channel your inner pop star and sing your heart out with the group. Don’t worry, the karaoke comes with unlimited drinks. Day 8
Temples, Torii Gates & Historic Gion District
Kick off your morning with a peaceful visit to Higashi Hongan-ji, one of the largest wooden structures in the world. It’s a perfect spot to beat the crowds and soak in some quiet moments.
Next, we’re off to Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates winding up the mountain. You can either take on the hike to the top for stunning views or stay closer to the base and enjoy the local street food.
After lunch, we’ll visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage site with sweeping views of Kyoto.
End the day with a stroll through the magical Gion district, known for its traditional tea houses and geisha culture. You’ll have free time to explore this charming area – maybe catch a performance or grab dinner in one of Gion’s quaint restaurants. Day 9
Head to Nara Famous Bowing Deer
Today, we’re off to Nara for a half-day adventure! Visit the awe-inspiring Todaiji Temple, home to one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in the world. As you explore Nara Park, don’t be surprised if friendly deer come up to greet you – they’re known to bow for treats!
Afterwards, enjoy some free time for lunch before heading back to Kyoto.
The rest of the day is yours! Whether you want to visit the bamboo groves of Arashiyama, rent a kimono and stroll through the streets, or check out the Pokémon Center for some unique shopping, Kyoto has endless possibilities. Day 10
Meditation in a temple, Kyoto Cycling trip & Travel to Hiroshima
Get ready for an active morning as we hop on bikes and cycle through Kyoto like a local! Our first stop is a Zen temple, where you’ll find inner peace through meditation led by a Buddhist monk.
After a refreshing meditation, enjoy a quick lunch before visiting the stunning Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-Ji), one of Kyoto’s most iconic sights.
In the afternoon, cycle to the Kyoto Imperial Palace for a final dose of Kyoto’s rich history.
Later, board the bullet train to Hiroshima, where we’ll settle in for the night. In the evening, join the group for an optional dinner at Okonomiyaki Village, where you can watch the chef prepare this savory Japanese pancake right in front of you! Day 11
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Miyajima Island
This morning, visit the deeply moving Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Atomic Bomb Dome. Learn about the city’s tragic history and resilience as you explore the exhibits.
Next, we’ll hop on a ferry to Miyajima Island, where the iconic Itsukushima Shrine awaits. Marvel at the massive torii gate rising from the sea – at low tide, you can even walk up to it!
After lunch,take a scenic walk to the Miyajima Ropeway for stunning views of the island.
The evening is yours to relax back in Hiroshima. Day 12
Explore Shinsaibashi & Shinsekai in Osaka
All aboard the bullet train as we make our way to Osaka, Japan’s lively food capital. After dropping off your bags, we’ll take a quick walk through the buzzing Shinsaibashi area, which is perfect for lunch and exploring.
In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to discover Osaka’s many delights. Visit the historic Osaka Castle, shop till you drop in Umeda, or check out the National Museum.
Later, we’ll reunite for a final farewell dinner in Shinsekai, a retro district known for its nostalgic charm and neon lights. After dinner, snap a photo with the famous Running Man sign and toast to the end of an incredible adventure with one last drink. Day 13
Osaka to Seoul
Bid farewell to your fellow travellers as they will take the bullet train back to Tokyo and end the trip. Meanwhile, you will be traveling to South Korea. You will be unguided during the transfer until meeting your Korea Adventure Leader tomorrow afternoon.
Day 14
Taekwondo Class, Myeongdong & Namsan Mountain
Get ready to start your South Korea adventure tour by meeting your guide and group at the hostel in the afternoon! Listen to a pre-departure briefing to learn everything you need to know about your trip, including some basic Korean phrases to help you along the way.
After this, it’s time for your first unmissable activity – a Taekwondo training session! Test your skills and see if you’ve got what it takes to be the best in class.
After working up an appetite, we’ll head back into Myeongdong for a special welcome dinner with your group. Enjoy a delicious first meal together, getting to know your fellow travellers and toasting to the start of an incredible adventure!
Next, you’ll make your way to the top of Namsan Mountain by cable car, where you can admire spectacular views of Seoul lit up at night. Recognised as the most popular location in Seoul for couples, wander through the ‘padlocks of love’ locked at the base of Seoul N Tower, representing visitors’ endless love! If you want an even better view of the city, you can head to the top of the Tower.
Later, take the cable car down and enjoy a walk back to your accommodation in the district of Myeongdong. Spend some time strolling around and exploring the area or grab an early night to prepare for your first full day tomorrow!
Day 15
Gyeongbokgung Palace & Hanok Village
Today, you’ll wake up nice and early for a day exploring the ancient side of Seoul. Hop on the metro to Gyeongbokgung Palace where you’ll have the chance to watch the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, before entering the palace itself. You can even do so in a hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) to get that additional historical experience! After, make your way to Bukchon Hanok Village, passing by the Blue House (South Korea’s White House) on the way. This was the official residence of South Korean Presidents until being recently opened to the public.
You’ll then be given time to explore Korea’s capital at your leisure. While your guides will have plenty of suggestions, you may wish to keep exploring the delights of Bukchon Hanok Village and Insadong Art Street before escaping the hustle and bustle of the city with a walk down the Cheonggyecheon stream, an area of tranquility and relaxation restored during an urban renewal project. If you’re after something more modern, a trip to the HiKR Ground might be in store – here, you can learn all about the K-wave, and even record your own music video!
In the evening, you will have some free time to explore Seoul further, to find yourself something delicious to eat. Why not try grabbing food and drinks in the Euljiro/Itaewon area?
Day 16
DMZ, meet a North Korean defector and K-Pop Class
Today, you will visit the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Climb aboard a bus, taking you an hour north of Seoul to Imjingak, where you’ll have the chance to grab some breakfast.
Pay a visit to Dora Observatory where you can see the nearest North Korean villages through binoculars. If you’re lucky, you might even see some people in the streets. Next, descend into the 3rd Tunnel created by North Koreans, taking you as close as 170m to North Korea!
After, you will begin your journey back to Seoul and make the most of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to talk to a North Korean defector. Back in Seoul, try out a K-Pop Dance Class and then enjoy a night out in Hongdae, best known for its endless restaurant and bar options.
Day 17
Seoraksan National Park & Sokcho
Check out of your accommodation and depart to Sokcho, in the north-eastern part of the country. Arriving at Seoraksan National Park in the late morning, embark on a rewarding hike to Ulsanbawi Rock, where you’ll be greeted with spectacular panoramic views. For those looking for a less challenging option, follow the well-signed waterfall trail and take a cable car to another scenic peak. After your hike, refuel with lunch at the entrance of the park before boarding the bus to Sokcho town, where you’ll hop on a gatbae to cross the river to Abai, a small village originally formed by North Korean refugees.
In the evening, follow your Adventure Leader on a food market tour, exploring Sokcho’s best culinary hotspots before heading into the local fish markets for dinner. Whether you choose fresh seafood straight from the market or opt for one of the town’s best-loved restaurants, such as Manseok, famous for its sticky sweet and sour boneless fried chicken, this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in Sokcho’s incredible food scene.
Later, round off the evening with a traditional liquor tasting, hosted by your Adventure Leader, to experience the flavors of Korea in a truly local way.
Day 18
BTS Bus Stop & Temple Stay
Prepare to set off early as you take the bus along the East Coast to the former capital Gyeongju. Along the way, K-Pop enthusiasts will get to stop off and take a picture at Jumunjin Bus Stop, better known for featuring as the artwork to one of BTS’ releases.
Want to experience authentic Korean food? Have dinner at Dosol Maeul, a local restaurant serving traditional Korean set meals in an equally authentic environment! Later, why not take a stroll around to Anapji Pond for some amazing nighttime views of the palace? Be sure to pack your cameras because the lights are stunning!
Experience the Golgulsa Temple for an immersive temple stay. Engage in meditation sessions, experience traditional arts like Sunmudo, and partake in the serene evening chanting service. Savour a simple yet nourishing Buddhist dinner amidst a communal setting, sharing stories and moments of reflection with fellow temple visitors.
Day 19
Cycling Tour of Gyeongju
Once you arrive in Gyeongju, prepare for an afternoon exploring by bike! First up, explore Cheonmachong Ancient Tombs, part of the Daereungwon Tomb Complex in Tumuli Park. Then, make your way to Cheomseongdae, the oldest existing astronomical observatory in East Asia.
Day 20
Gamcheon Culture Village & Marine Cable Car
Wake up with the sunrise and take part in the morning chanting service and meditation, followed by starting the day right with a traditional breakfast.
After a relaxing morning, take the bus and make your way to Gyeongju station where you’ll start your journey to Busan via high-speed train. Arrive quickly at your destination and board a privately hired bus to take you around for the day, starting with the unmissable Gamcheon Culture Village.
Hop back aboard your bus and head down to Songdo where you will board the Marine Cable Car and take in the impressive coastal views.
Following this, you will make your way to BIFF Square in Nampo-dong, home to the annual Busan International Film Festival, where you can try a variety of food options from local street vendors (but why not go for a Busan hotteok seeing as you’re in town?).
Finally, head to your hostel in Haeundae where you will be given the evening to relax and unwind, or explore the town at your own leisure.
Day 21
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple & free afternoon
Head out for a day exploring Busan. First up, visit Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, a Buddhist temple nestled in the coastline’s cliffs.
Feeling in need of some more rejuvenation? You could head to Spa Land in Centum City, located in Busan’s largest shopping complex! Make the most of South Korea’s high-quality jjimjilbang while you’re here and treat yourself to saunas, cold rooms, jacuzzis and more.
Finally, enjoy the evening with your fellow travelers trying local delicacies. Once the sun sets, be sure to admire the light show on Gwangan Bridge from the shore or perhaps opt for an evening sightseeing boat cruise around the bay. Once you’re back on dry land – try your hand at karaoke!
Day 22
Busan to Jeju
Enjoy a free morning to explore Busan – venture out on your own, or take part in some of our suggested activities. For example, you might enjoy a trip on the coastal railway, the Haeundae Blueline. Alternatively, you can visit the observatory of the second-tallest building in Korea and take in the views, or embark on the Igidae Coastal Walk and Oryukdo Skywalk. You may even just opt for a relaxing morning on the beach!
If you’d like to get one last dose of Korean culture in Busan, you could even try your hand at making the traditional staple, bibimbap, in a cooking class!
Later, you will collect your belongings from the hostel and make your way to the airport where you’ll catch a plane to Jeju Island. Once you’ve checked in at your accommodation in Seogwipo, feel free to spend your evening venturing into Olle Maeil Market or exploring the nightlife the city has to offer.
Day 23
Jjeongbang Waterfall & Jeju Olle Trail
Wake up on the beautiful island of Jeju and start your day with a trek along the Jeju Olle Trail, soaking in iconic coastal views and serene natural surroundings. Next, visit Jeongbang Waterfall, the only waterfall in Asia that flows directly into the ocean – a breath-taking sight to complete your morning.
Then, hike to Seongsan Ilchulbong, a UNESCO World Heritage Site formed by hydrovolcanic eruptions over 5,000 years ago. After taking in the panoramic views, you can enjoy an optional lunch by the volcano or catch a Haenyeo performance at 13:30 (please note this performance is subject to availability/weather dependent). Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Haenyeo tradition reflects resilience, sustainability, and the deep bond between Jeju’s people and the sea. These incredible women, some in their 60s and 70s, dive without oxygen, embodying perseverance and the spirit of Jeju.
Returning to the hotel in the early afternoon, the rest of the day is yours to explore. You could:
- Head to Jungmun Beach to catch some rays
- Visit the beautiful Cheonjiyeon Waterfall
- Explore the Maritime Park and Saeyeongyo Bridge For a wonderful end to the day, opt to visit The Cliff for a drink with a truly special view of the sunset.
Day 24
Jeju Yacht Tour & Farewell BBQ
Make the most of your second morning in the mesmerising Jeju by visiting the Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliffs, a striking volcanic rock formation shaped by nature over thousands of years. After taking in the dramatic coastal scenery, reboard the bus and head to the yacht sailing tour, where you’ll set sail on the open sea, relax in the fresh ocean air and enjoy the company of your fellow Dragons.
The afternoon is then yours to explore at your own pace – whether you choose to unwind, visit more of Jeju’s natural wonders, or ask our Adventure Leaders for their top recommendations. In the evening, gather for a farewell barbecue dinner, where you can sample Jeju’s famous black pork, watch the sun set over the island and, if you’re up for it, celebrate into the night by the seashore. Make the most of these final moments with your fellow travellers before saying annyeonghi gaseyo in the morning!
Day 25
Departure Day
You’ve reached the last day of your Japan & South Korea tour and the end of your Dragon Trip adventure! You can head back to Seoul, explore the wonders of Jeju Island further, or continue with your travels elsewhere.
