If you want to experience something a little different while trekking, you should go to Sapa in Vietnam. You'll get the stunning mountainous landscape you might be used to with other treks mixed with emerald green hills and rice terraces. Along the way you'll stop by colourful markets and meet friendly locals. Our tours to Sapa include homestays, where the locals invite you into their home for the night and cook you local cuisine. There is no better way to get in touch with the country and truly experience the culture.
Remember that on these hikes you don't have a porter like in Machu Picchu or Everest Base Camp, so packing light is very important. You can leave your suitcase at the hotel in Sapa.
The first trek from Sapa goes to the hilltribe village of Cat Cat. It's a beautiful trek which takes about 3 hours including a stop a waterfall. Here you'll meet the H'mong people who originated from China about 300 years ago. It is very cool to see how they live, they will try to sell you handmade items and can be very pushy, just give them a firm no if you're not interested in buying things from them.
The next day you'll trek for about 6 hours (12-15 km) with a picnic lunch on the way. You'll pass through stunning scenery, like the famous rice terraces. Be sure to bring your hiking shoes, the paths can get muddy! The trek will take you to Ta Van Village where you'll spend the night in another homestay with another delicious Vietnamese dish.
The last day of trekking, you'll walk for about 3 hours, through bamboo forests and past waterfalls to get to Su Pan. Here you will have some lunch before getting picked up and driven back to Sapa.
