Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Zurich

On arrival at Zurich Airport, we are met and transferred to our hotel. After checking in and settling in, the remainder of the day is at leisure. At lunchtime, you might like to try one of Zurich’s cosy cafés or sample local specialities such as rosti or Zürcher Geschnetzeltes.

In the afternoon, you could take a gentle stroll along Bahnhofstrasse, one of Europe’s most famous shopping streets, or wander through the charming Old Town with its narrow lanes and historic buildings. Alternatively, you may prefer to relax by Lake Zurich and enjoy the views across the water.

In the evening, there are plenty of inviting restaurants where you can enjoy Swiss or international cuisine before returning to the hotel for the night.

Please note: All excursions depart at the exact times listed in the programme.

  • Day 2

    Zurich to Interlaken

Zurich - Schaffhausen - Lucerne - Interlaken. This morning, we meet our guide in the city centre at 9 AM for a 1.5-hour walking tour of Zurich. Together, we explore the highlights of this vibrant city, from its charming Old Town to elegant streets and lakeside views.

Our journey continues at 11 AM with a transfer to the spectacular Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe. Here we admire the roaring cascades and, if time allows, take a short walk along the viewing platforms for different perspectives of this natural wonder.

At 1 PM, we arrive in Lucerne for a guided walking tour, discovering its medieval architecture and charming squares. We see the famous Chapel Bridge and Water Tower, stroll along the lakeside promenade, and visit the striking Lion Monument, a moving tribute carved into the rock.

By 4 PM, we travel onwards to the Interlaken region, surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Bernese Oberland. The rest of the evening is at leisure.

  • Day 3

    Waterfalls, Gorges & Alpine Scenery

Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen - Interlaken. Today, we set off towards the Lauterbrunnen Valley, renowned for its sheer cliffs and countless waterfalls. This breathtaking landscape, often described as the “valley of 72 waterfalls,” changes with the seasons, offering unique highlights throughout the year.

From November to early April, we visit the Staubbach and Mürrenbach Falls, two of the most famous cascades in the region. We also climb to the dramatic Giessbach Falls and enjoy views from the Panoramic Sigriswil Bridge.

From mid-April to early November, we step inside the mountain at Trümmelbach Falls, where glacial meltwater thunders through rock passages. We then continue to the Reichenbach Falls, forever tied to the tale of Sherlock Holmes, before exploring the Aare Gorge, a dramatic glacial canyon carved over thousands of years.

Alternatively, you may choose an optional full-day excursion to Jungfraujoch. Travelling by cogwheel train to Europe’s highest railway station at 3,454 metres, the journey includes a spectacular stop at Eismeer station, with windows cut into the mountainside revealing sweeping views of the glacier below. (Additional fee applies, minimum of 4 participants.)

  • Day 4

Bern & the Tastes of Gruyeres

Interlaken - Bern - Gruyeres - Lake Geneva. We depart the Interlaken region at 9 AM and travel to Bern, passing through the scenic Swiss countryside on our way to the nation’s capital. On arrival, we meet our guide for a two-hour walking tour of the Old Town. With its arcaded streets, historic fountains, and medieval clock tower, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered one of the most charming city centres in Europe.

At 2 PM, our journey continues into the Gruyères region, where gentle hills and Alpine pastures set the scene. We visit the medieval town of Gruyères and explore La Maison du Gruyère, learning about the production of Gruyère Appellation d’Origine Protégée cheese and sampling the result of centuries-old tradition.

Our final stop is at Maison Cailler in Broc. This famous chocolate factory tells the story of Switzerland’s long-standing love affair with chocolate and offers us the chance to sample a wide selection of their creations. By 5:30 PM, we continue to the Lake Geneva region, where the scenery shifts to vineyards and lakeside towns. From 6 PM, the evening is free to relax, enjoy dinner or simply take in the surroundings.

  • Day 5

    Exploring Montreux and Beyond

Lake Geneva - Montreux - Lake Geneva. Today is a free day to enjoy the Montreux region at your own pace. You may choose to stroll along the town’s famous lakeside promenade, adorned with flowers and sculptures, or visit nearby attractions such as Queen: The Studio Experience and Chaplin’s World in Vevey. A relaxing cruise aboard a traditional paddle steamer on Lake Geneva is another wonderful way to take in the Alpine scenery. For those wishing to venture further, several optional excursions are available.

Option 1: Day excursion to France (Evian-les-Bains – Yvoire – Annecy)

You may cross into France on a full-day trip that takes you to Evian-les-Bains, famed for its mineral waters, before continuing to the medieval village of Yvoire and finally to Annecy, often called the “Venice of the Alps” with its cobblestone streets, flower-decked bridges, and shimmering lake.

Option 2: Day excursion to Glacier 3000 (cable car tickets included)

Another option is to ascend to Glacier 3000 by cable car, where sweeping views of 24 peaks—including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn—await. Here you can step across the extraordinary Peak Walk by Tissot, the only suspension bridge in the world to connect two mountain summits, while also enjoying time to explore the glacier trails.

Option 3: Day excursion to Chamonix - Montblanc

Alternatively, you may travel to Chamonix, the famous Alpine town at the foot of Mont Blanc. A cable car journey to the Aiguille du Midi reveals a stunning 360-degree panorama of the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. You can also ride the charming red train to Montenvers for close-up views of the Mer de Glace glacier, surrounded by towering Alpine peaks.

Option 4: Evening excursion to the Thermal Baths in Les Baines de Lavey

In the evening, you may prefer something more tranquil with a visit to the thermal baths at Les Bains de Lavey. Here you can soak in naturally heated pools, enjoy hammams infused with eucalyptus, and relax while taking in the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

  • Day 6

    The Swiss Riviera & Geneva

Lake Geneva - Montreux - Lausanne - Geneva. Today, we travel through the Swiss Riviera, beginning in Montreux at 9 AM. Our first stop is the medieval Château de Chillon, set dramatically on the shores of Lake Geneva. We explore its atmospheric halls and towers while enjoying views across the water.

We then join our guide for a walking tour of Montreux, taking in the town’s elegant lakeside setting. If time and interest allow, you may also visit Queen: The Studio Experience, where the band recorded some of their most iconic tracks.

By midday, we continue on to Lausanne to explore the Olympic Park and Museum, home to the world’s largest collection dedicated to the Olympic Games. In the afternoon, we arrive in Geneva for a guided walking tour of the city, discovering its international character, historic landmarks, and lakeside scenery.

From the evening onwards, the time is yours to relax, explore at your own pace, or enjoy dinner in Geneva.

  • Day 7
