Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Porto

    On arrival in Porto, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in.

    The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. You can take a stroll through the historic Ribeira district, sample local cuisine, or simply relax and settle in before the tour begins.

  • Day 2

    Half Day Tour of Porto

    This morning, meet our guide in the hotel lobby for a half-day sightseeing tour of Porto. We’ll begin with a guided walk through the historic city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring its charming streets while learning about Porto’s rich history and culture.

    Along the way, we’ll see landmarks such as the beautiful Lello Bookshop, said to have inspired the Harry Potter series, the ornate Church of St Francis, and the grand Palacio da Bolsa with its striking granite and Neo-Arabic design. (Entrances not included)

    The tour continues to the picturesque Douro riverfront, where we can admire the elegant Dom Luís Bridge and the famous Port Wine cellars that brought the city worldwide recognition. We will stop at a few traditional spots to sample local delicacies before visiting one of the city’s renowned wine cellars for a tasting.

    We’ll then return to our hotel, and the rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore more of Porto at your own pace.

  • Day 3

    Journey to the Douro Valley

    Porto - Pinhao - Douro Valley. Today, check out of our hotel in Porto and travel to Pinhao along the scenic national road 222, which follows the banks of the Douro River and is known as one of Portugal’s most beautiful drives.

    Our guide will show us around Pinhao and some of the best viewpoints in the Douro Valley before enjoying a traditional lunch at one of the region’s renowned wineries. After lunch, we take a guided tour of the vineyards and sample some of their celebrated wines.

    In the afternoon, we unwind with a one-hour cruise along the Douro River and take in the valley’s breathtaking landscapes.

  • Day 4

    Vineyard Picnic & Wine Tasting

    After breakfast, you will have the morning at leisure to relax or enjoy your own activities.

    After lunchtime, we will be collected from our hotel for one of the Douro Valley’s most memorable experiences, a picnic among the vineyards, followed by a wine tasting at one of the region’s renowned wineries.

    Please note: If weather conditions prevent the picnic from taking place, lunch will instead be served at a traditional local restaurant.

  • Day 5

    Douro Valley to Guimaraes

    Douro Valley - Guimaraes. We will be transferred to our hotel in Guimaraes, for check-in.

    The historic centre of Guimaraes has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, recognised as an exceptionally well-preserved and authentic example of the evolution from a medieval settlement to a modern European city. Once the capital of Portugal, it remains a place of great historical significance.

    In the evening, you can dine in a traditional restaurant and enjoy an authentic taste of the local cuisine.

    Please note: Check in at the hotel in Guimaraes is from 3 PM.

  • Day 6

    Exploring the Minho Region

    Guimaraes - Minho (Region) - Guimaraes. This morning, we will make our way from our hotel to begin a journey through the Minho region, where we will sample some of its most traditional dishes. We then visit one of the historic estates where green wine is produced, a crisp white wine unique to this part of Europe and enjoy a tasting at the end of the visit.

    On the return to Guimaraes, stop at Penha Hill for a spectacular panoramic view of the city. Lunch will be served at one of Guimaraes’gourmet restaurants.

    In the afternoon, we visit the Castle of Guimaraes and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza to learn more about the city’s rich history. The rest of the day is free for you to explore at your leisure.

  • Day 7

    Guimaraes to Porto

    Guimaraes - Porto. After our final breakfast, you will have free time to further explore Guimaraes before you check out from the hotel. You will then be transferred to the Porto Airport. Safe travels!
