  • I am a solo traveler; will I have to pay a single supplement for my room?

No, solo travelers will not incur a single supplement cost as our group trips are designed for shared accommodation. Single travelers are paired in twin or multi-share rooms with someone of the same sex. A 'My Own Room' option is available if you prefer a single room for all night stops.
  • What health precautions should I be aware of for Kenya?

It is recommended to consult your physician or a travel clinic at least one month prior for health advice. A valid Yellow Fever Certificate is compulsory if traveling from a Yellow Fever endemic country. Malaria is present in some regions, so preventative medication and insect repellent are advised. Basic medical facilities are available.
  • What is the local currency in Kenya, and what should I know about money exchange and credit cards?

The local currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES/KSH). USD, British Pound, and Euro are easily exchangeable, but USD notes older than 2006 are not accepted. ATMs are available in major centers but can be unreliable. Credit cards can be used in major cities (often with a 5-10% fee) but should not be your sole source of funds. A combination of foreign cash and debit/credit cards is best, along with an emergency fund of at least USD $200.
  • Is tipping customary on this tour, and what are the general guidelines?

Tipping is an expected and appreciated gesture for exceptional service, though not compulsory. General guidelines per person per day are: CEO: $5 USD, Driver: $5 USD, Supply crew: $2-5 USD. For local guides, $1 USD per couple of hours (or $2 per day in Zanzibar). Hotel porters: $1 USD. Restaurant/café servers: 10% of the bill.
  • What are the safety and security considerations I should be aware of during the trip?

We strongly recommend using a neck wallet or money belt for valuables, leaving valuable jewelry at home, and using hotel safety deposit boxes. A lock for luggage is also advised. In Nairobi, avoid wandering alone at night and use taxis after sundown. Be cautious of con artists and refrain from photographing police stations, airports, military personnel, or government buildings. Your CEO may amend the itinerary for safety reasons, and any optional activities undertaken during free time are at your own judgment.
  • What are the visa and entry requirements for Kenya?

All travelers require a valid passport with a minimum of 6 months validity. As of January 1st, 2024, the Kenyan government requires all nationalities to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) online instead of a visa. A Yellow Fever certificate may also be required upon entry. It is essential to check the most up-to-date information with your local embassy or consulate.
  • Are international flights included in the tour price?

No, international flights are generally not included in the price of this tour. Please consult your booking agent for any specific inclusions.
  • Can I do laundry during the trip?
