Start and end in Istanbul on this two–day journey which blends ancient myth with modern history. You’ll explore Troy – legendary home of the Trojan Horse – wandering ruins that conjure Helen and Paris. Then trace the poignant WWI story at Gallipoli, with time at ANZAC Cove and key memorials like Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair, plus preserved trenches at Johnston’s Jolly. Expect sweeping views across the Dardanelles, quiet beaches and reflective moments amid serene pine forests. It’s a compact, well–paced trip with minimal bus time and maximum insight, finishing back in vibrant Istanbul – perfect for travellers keen on culture, scenery and remembrance.
Itinerary
Day 1
Troy & Canakkale
You can be collected from any hotel near Sultanahmet (the old city) or in the Taksim area. Pick up, on Day 1, is between 6:15 am and 6:45 am depending on where there hotel is located.
From Istanbul, we follow the scenic coast of the Sea of Marmara to the ancient city of Troy, stepping back through millennia as we explore its storied ruins – from the legendary Trojan Horse to the timeless tale of Helen of Sparta and Paris of Troy. We then continue to Canakkale for the night.
Day 2
Gallipoli & Return to Istanbul
This morning we set out for Gallipoli, where the First World War battlefields now rest in solemn tranquility.
We visit the Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, ANZAC Cove, Brighton Beach, Beach Cemetery, Ari Burnu Cemetery, Johnston’s Jolly (where we visit original Allied and Turkish trenches and tunnels), the 57th Regiment Turkish Memorial and The Nek – before returning to Istanbul. The tour ends on arrival back in the city - you will be dropped back at your hotel (not included) at approximately 22:00.
