Summary
Set off on a semi-private 9 day adventure from Venice to Naples – a relaxed sweep of Italy’s icons. You’ll start with St Mark’s Square, the basilica and the Doge’s Palace, then glide by train to Florence for Renaissance greats – the Duomo, Michelangelo’s David and Uffizi masterpieces. Roll south to Rome to step inside the Colosseum, wander the Forum and take in the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Continue via Naples to explore Pompeii, then settle in Sorrento with an evening boat trip to Capri – cliffs, grottoes and the Piazzetta. Scenic rail, private transfers and water taxis keep the pace easy.
Itinerary
Day 1
Venice
On arrival at Venice Airport, we board a private water taxi to your hotel. After check–in, you have the rest of the day to relax or start discovering the enchanting city of canals at your own pace. Overnight in Venice.
Day 2
Exploring Venice
After breakfast, we meet at “Alilaguna of Giardinetti Reali” for a small–group guided tour. We begin in St Mark’s Square, as our guide shares Venice’s storied past and introduces its most iconic monuments. We continue to St Mark’s Basilica – the dazzling “Golden Church” famed for its shimmering mosaics and treasures – before visiting the Doge’s Palace, the Gothic masterpiece that once housed the government and courts of the Venetian Republic. We explore grand chambers, ornate courtyards and historic prisons, admiring works by Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese. Overnight in Venice.
Day 3
Venice to Florence by Train
After breakfast, we take a private water taxi from your hotel to Venice Santa Lucia Station and board the high–speed train to Florence. On arrival at Florence Santa Maria Novella Station, we provide a private transfer to your hotel. After check–in, you have the remainder of the day at leisure to stroll elegant streets, art–filled piazzas and the timeless heart of Florence at your own pace. Overnight in Florence.
Day 4
Exploring Florence
After breakfast, we make our way to the central meeting point to join the “Florence the Magnificent” shared tour – an immersion in the city’s artistic treasures. We start with a guided walk through the historic centre, taking in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery with its famed “Gates of Paradise”, then continue via Piazza della Repubblica to Piazza della Signoria, home to Palazzo Vecchio and an impressive open–air gallery of Renaissance statues. With skip–the–line entry to the Accademia Gallery, we admire Michelangelo’s David and other notable works. In the afternoon, we delve into the Uffizi on a specialist masterclass, encountering masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael, including The Birth of Venus and Primavera. After the tour, you have the rest of the day at leisure to wander Florence’s streets or linger at a traditional café. Overnight in Florence.
Day 5
Florence to Rome by Train
After breakfast, we provide a private transfer to Florence Santa Maria Novella Station to board the high–speed train to Rome. On arrival at Termini, we transfer you privately to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to begin discovering the Eternal City at your own pace. Overnight in Rome.
Day 6
Exploring Rome & Vatican City
After breakfast, we join a shared guided experience that pairs Ancient Rome with the Vatican in one remarkable day. This morning we walk in the footsteps of emperors at the Colosseum, then continue through the Roman Forum and up Palatine Hill, where temples, arches and imperial residences reveal the grandeur of the empire. In the afternoon, we explore the Vatican Museums – from the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Maps to the Raphael Rooms – before reaching the Sistine Chapel to admire Michelangelo’s extraordinary frescoes. The visit concludes inside St Peter’s Basilica, where we can appreciate masterpieces including Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s magnificent Baldacchino. After the tour, you have the evening at leisure to relax or explore more of Rome’s atmosphere on your own. Overnight in Rome.
Day 7
Rome to Naples by Train, Pompeii & Sorrento
After breakfast, we transfer you privately to Rome Termini to board the high–speed train to Naples. On arrival, we meet your private driver and guide for a two–hour visit to Pompeii, with entrance tickets included. We explore the Forum, temples, baths and exquisitely decorated villas, walking the original stone streets as our guide brings daily routines and the site’s dramatic history vividly into focus. After the visit, we continue along the scenic coastal road to Sorrento for hotel check–in, and you have the rest of the day at leisure – perhaps strolling the charming historic centre or unwinding with views of the Bay of Naples. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 8
Visit to Capri
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Sorrento – you may choose to relax by the sea or explore the old town’s cafés and shops. In the late afternoon, we embark on an exclusive shared evening excursion to Capri. We board a hydrofoil across the shimmering waters of the Neapolitan Riviera, then begin with a boat tour around the island to admire dramatic cliffs and famed grottoes softened by the evening light. As dusk falls, we disembark in Capri town and you have time at leisure to explore at your own pace – browse elegant boutiques, sip a cocktail in the Piazzetta or linger over dinner at a refined restaurant, perhaps tasting the iconic Caprese salad. We return to Sorrento by hydrofoil later in the evening. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 9
Sorrento to Naples
After breakfast, we provide a private transfer from Sorrento to Naples Airport for your onward journey.
