Summary
Begin and end in El Calafate – this two day Patagonia taster blends estancia life with ice. Day one takes you to Nibepo Aike, a traditional ranch on Lake Argentino, for a guided look at cattle and sheep traditions, easy walks amid lenga and ñire forests, wildlife spotting, and a Patagonian lamb asado with Andes views. On day two you’ll explore Perito Moreno Glacier with a specialised guide – stroll the walkways, savour a gourmet packed lunch, and opt for a boat ride to the towering ice wall. Round things off with mate tasting before returning to El Calafate.
Itinerary
Day 1
El Calafate
Around 08:30, we collect you from your hotel for the journey to Nibepo Aike, a traditional Patagonian ranch set between the Southern Arm of Lake Argentino and the Andes. On arrival we are welcomed with drinks and pastries before a guided tour that reveals the ranch’s history and day to day livestock work, with views of lenga and ñire woodland and chances to spot woodpeckers and eagles. We watch demonstrations of traditional sheep shearing and riding practices, then stroll through the vegetable garden that supplies the kitchen. The visit culminates at the quincho, where the asador is preparing Patagonian lamb for us to savour while gazing at the mountain panorama. Overnight in El Calafate.
Day 2
El Calafate
Around 09:30, we pick you up for a relaxed visit to Perito Moreno Glacier, travelling in a small vehicle – with a specialised guide – to the national park to steer clear of the crowds. We spend unhurried time on the walkways admiring the glacier and enjoy a gourmet packed lunch in this extraordinary setting. If you wish, you can add a one hour boat trip for a closer look at the towering ice wall. Before we return, we pause at a traditional Patagonian rest stop with sweeping views for a tasty snack, and we share mate – a local ritual deeply woven into everyday life. This thoughtfully paced outing blends comfort and attentive service for an unforgettable glacier experience.
