  This tour is specifically designed for groups traveling with children between the ages of 7 and 17. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• Are international flights included in the tour price?

  No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. You will need to arrange these separately.

• Are local flights within Vietnam and Cambodia included in the cost of the trip?

  Yes, any local flights noted in the itinerary for this tour are included. Please be aware that there may be a weight restriction of 20 kg (40lbs) for one checked bag per passenger on internal flights.

• What meals are included during the trip?

  The tour includes 11 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 4 dinners.

• What type of accommodation will be provided on this trip?

  You will be staying in hotels for 10 nights and experience an overnight cruise for 1 night.

• What is the physical rating of this tour?

  This trip has a physical rating of 3. It's recommended to review the itinerary and assess your ability to cope with this style of travel.

• What is the maximum group size for this tour?

  The maximum group size for this tour is 20 participants.

• Are tips for guides, activities, and porterage included in the tour price?

  Tipping is included for all included activities, meals, and porterage. Tipping for your National Geographic Expedition Leader is not included, and a guideline of $10-$15 USD per person per day is appreciated. For meals and activities not included in your itinerary, a 10% tip is customary in Asia.

• Are there any specific health considerations or inoculation requirements for this trip?

  Inoculations may be required for the countries visited. It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information well before departure. Travelers over 70 years old require a completed Medical Form.

• What are the safety considerations, particularly regarding valuables?

  Petty theft can be an issue in some Vietnamese towns and cities. It is advised to leave valuables and passports in your hotel's safety box and only carry necessary cash. Bags should be carried over the neck rather than just on the shoulder to deter snatching.

• What is the recommended dress code to respect local customs?

  Dress standards are conservative throughout Asia. We strongly recommend modest clothing that covers shoulders and includes knee-length shorts or long pants for both comfort and respect. Loose, lightweight clothing is also suitable for the hot climate.

• Are there any optional activities available during the tour?

  In Hoi An, optional activities include a Traditional Lantern Making Experience and visiting Tailor Shops.

• Is there an extra cost for solo travelers?

  No, our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. If there is an odd number of adult travelers in your family, you will be paired in twin accommodation with another adult of the same sex.

• Is an emergency fund recommended for this trip?

  Yes, it is recommended to have access to at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) as an emergency fund for unforeseen circumstances outside of our control.

• What should I know about currency, credit cards, and exchanging money while on this tour?

  The local currency is Vietnamese Dong. ATMs are widely available throughout Southeast Asia and generally accept Visa and Mastercard. It's a good idea to travel with both card types. USD cash (new notes in good condition) is recommended for emergency situations. Credit cards can be used at some upmarket restaurants and larger stores.

• Are laundry facilities available during the trip?

  Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. Your Expedition Leader can also advise on the closest laundromat. Bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap is suggested for personal laundry.

• Who will be leading the tour group?

  The group will be led by two National Geographic Expedition Leaders.

• What G for Good initiatives are part of this tour?

  The tour includes visits to the Kym Viet Local Enterprise in Hanoi and a delicious lunch at the New Hope Cambodia vocational training restaurant in Siem Reap, both of which are tour operator-supported social enterprises. You will also learn about the Planeterra Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping local communities benefit from tourism.

  The safety and well-being of all travelers is a priority. We encourage LGBTQ+ travelers to visit the dedicated LGBTQ+ page for useful resources and information to ensure a safe and comfortable trip.

• Is travel insurance compulsory for this trip?

  Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. You will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance has been sighted by your leader. A minimum coverage of USD 200,000 for medical expenses including emergency evacuation and repatriation is required. We also strongly recommend coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage.
