Itinerary
Day 1
Dublin to Glendalough to Kilkenny
Dublin - Glendalough - Kilkenny. Our journey begins in Dublin as we venture through Ireland’s Ancient East, travelling along the scenic Military Road via Sally Gap. Arriving in Glendalough, nestled in a glacial valley between two lakes, we’ll explore this historic monastic site with our guide and enjoy a walk through the surrounding trails of the Wicklow Mountains.
From here, we continue to Kilkenny and step back in time at its impressive 12th-century castle. Inside, we’ll wander through elegant rooms filled with fine furnishings and artwork, gaining a sense of how noble families once lived. Afterwards, stroll through the medieval streets before settling in for the night.
Total driving time: 2 hours 50 minutes
Meeting Point: Ashling Hotel Dublin, 10 - 13 Parkgate St, Stoneybatter, Dublin 8, D08 P38N at 08:00.
Day 2
Blarney to Killarney
Kilkenny - Cahir Castle - Blarney Castle - Killarney. Leaving Kilkenny behind, we head for one of Ireland’s best-preserved strongholds – Cahir Castle – dramatically perched on a rocky island in the River Suir. After exploring this formidable fortress, we continue to the legendary Blarney Castle. Climb its stone steps and kiss the famous Blarney Stone to gain the ‘gift of the gab’ – then unwind in the castle gardens, dungeons, and leafy grounds.
Later, we arrive in Killarney, the heart of County Kerry. Enjoy a lively evening filled with music, storytelling, and traditional hospitality.
Total driving time: 3 hours 15 minutes
Day 3
The Kerry Experience
Killarney - Dingle. The morning is yours to enjoy Killarney at your own pace – browse the shops, grab a coffee, or simply soak up the atmosphere. Late morning, we head into Killarney National Park, where we’ll stroll past the lakes to the elegant 19th-century Muckross House and take in the beauty of Torc Waterfall.
This afternoon brings highlights from the iconic Ring of Kerry, including the rugged Gap of Dunloe and plenty of photo stops along the way. Optional jaunting cars (horse-drawn carts) are available for those keen to try a unique local experience.
Our day ends in colourful Dingle, where lively pubs, fresh seafood, and warm welcomes await.
Total driving time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Please Note: This tour includes a selection of highlights from the Ring of Kerry but not the full loop. For the complete experience, see our Highlights of Ireland & Islands - 7 days tour.
Day 4
Dingle Peninsula
Take a slow morning to explore Dingle’s boutiques, artisan shops, and galleries. For those feeling energetic, join a guided walk to Eask Tower for sweeping views across the Atlantic and Dingle Bay.
After lunch, we follow the winding Slea Head Drive – one of Ireland’s most scenic coastal routes. Expect dramatic headlands, golden beaches, and maybe even a chance to meet some fluffy new friends (baby lambs, if in season!).
We stay a second night in Dingle, giving us time to relax and soak up the town’s charm. Perhaps grab some fish and chips and enjoy them by the harbour.
Total driving time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Day 5
Dingle to the Cliffs of Moher
Dingle - Cliffs of Moher - Spanish Point. We leave Kerry behind this morning and cross the Shannon into County Clare, following the Wild Atlantic Way. Our first stop is Vandeleur Walled Garden for a relaxed lunch surrounded by tranquil greenery.
This afternoon, we arrive at the spectacular Cliffs of Moher – towering above the Atlantic, they offer breathtaking views and endless photo opportunities. We’ll enjoy a walk along the cliff paths before heading to Spanish Point for the night, where dramatic coastal scenery and a peaceful evening await.
Total driving time: 4 hours
Day 6
Burren National Park & Galway to Dublin
Spanish Point - Burren National Park - Galway - Dublin. Our final day begins with a special visit to the Burren Farm Experience, where Bronagh and Cathal invite us to explore their 500-acre family farm. Discover how farming endures in this striking limestone landscape and hear stories passed down through generations.
We continue through Burren National Park, where a final walk allows us to admire the area’s rare flora and karst terrain. Arriving in bohemian Galway, the afternoon is yours to wander the vibrant streets, pop into traditional shops, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
You will be dropped at the coach station in Galway and a ticket back to the Irish capital is included as part of the tour. You will travel without a guide back to Dublin, where our arrangements end.
