Itinerary
Day 1
ARRIVE AND MEET THE GROUP
Welcome to South Africa! Once you arrive in Johannesburg we’ll take you to our accom. You’ll have plenty of time to recover from your flight before meeting everyone in your group.
Day 2
EXPLORE JOHANNESBURG
First up today we’re learning about the history of Soweto township. We’ll visit the beautifully designed Apartheid Museum or Mandela’s House depending on availability. Later we’ll head out later for some drinks at the best watering holes around.
Day 3
TRAVEL TO GRASKOP & THE PANORAMA ROUTE
Today we leave JoBurg to head into the depths of Africa. We’ll have breakfast at the hotel, then drive the renowned Panorama Route to see some of Africa’s most stunning landscapes.
Day 4
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
We’re off to Kruger National Park, crossing our fingers for our first sightings of exotic wildlife on our drive. Tonight at our pre-erected campsite, we’ll enjoy a traditional Potjie, a South African dish that is traditionally cooked outdoors in a cast iron cauldron.
Day 5
OPEN VEHICLE GAME DRIVE
Today is a trip highlight - a once in a lifetime open vehicle game drive through Kruger National Park! We’ll look out for herds of mighty elephants, rhinos, buffalos, prides of lions and lurking leopards, and our experienced guides will ensure we have the best possible experience. Tonight our guide will give us an explanation of the history of our dinner, known as braai; a traditional South African BBQ before we spend the night gazing up at an infinite, starry sky.
Day 6
TRAVEL TO ESWATINI
This morning we’ll cross the border to Eswatini, a small landlocked nation that hosts Hlane Royal National Park. This evening is another chance to spot your favourite animals on a sunset game drive through the grasslands, then tonight if we are lucky, we’ll be treated to a show from rangers performing their traditional style of Swazi singing.
Day 7
LOCAL WAY OF LIFE
Re-entering South Africa, we’ll head south towards Pongolapoort Nature Reserve, passing more breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy an unforgettable visit to a local village, where we’ll explore traditions, visit a crèche, and watch a traditional Zulu dance. As evening comes, we’ll have a delicious braai and relax with games around the campfire.
Day 8
COASTAL TOWNS
This morning we’ll visit a local Zulu village before we head to the coast, checking in to our beach lodge. This afternoon we'll chill on the beach or relax by the pool. Tonight we'll indulge in a South African delicacy - Bunny Chow, a fast food dish that’s essentially a loaf of bread filled with curry. A must try!
Day 9
TABLE MOUNTAIN
This morning’s an early start as we’re off to catch our short flight Cape Town, a scenic city featuring world-class beaches, amazing architecture, pumping nightlife, and so much more. Later we’ll summit Table Mountain (weather permitting, alternate activity in Winter) to witness an epic view over the city, then tonight we’ll check out the V&A Waterfront to wander, shop and take in the view.
Day 10
DISCOVER CAPE TOWN
Today we head off on a walking tour of Bo-Kaap, an area known for it’s colourful houses and Cape Malay culture. The tour will continue with a drive past the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, Slave Lodge, District 6 Museum, The Castle, and Cape Town Stadium. We’ll finish the day with a cocktail in hand as we watch the sunset.
Day 11
CAPE PENINSULA
Gear up for a day of adventure as we explore the dramatic beaches and cliffs of Cape Peninsula. We’ll go on a cruise to get up close and personal with wild fur seals, stop for photos at the impressive Chapman’s Peak, then explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and hang out with a colony of wild African Penguins on Boulders Beach. Tonight we’re out for our farewell dinner in a funky restaurant.
Day 12
CHECK OUT & ONWARD TRAVEL
Your amazing 12 day adventure comes to an end. You can either check out and make your way back home, extend your stay in Cape Town, or continue your travels in Africa. We’ll be on hand to help you with any onward travel!

Customer reviews & ratings
Just returned home from the 12 day Intro Tour in South Africa and wow what an amazing experience it was! From start to finish the tour was so efficiently planned out. Our group leader was Dan and his proactiveness and willingness to go above and beyond really eased the whole process for a first time solo traveller; messaging about transport options from the airport, daily packing lists and itinerary reminders, as well as being a really enthusiastic and fun guy. His love for South Africa shone through and made our experience incredible. As well as that we had a local guide called Liezl whos knowledge on her country was next to none, regularly providing story times on the bus and cultural facts as well as her love for birds on the game drives haha! She also went above and beyond in making the trip both memorable and informative. The overall trip itinerary was perfect! Starting off with the important history of South Africa in Johannesburg which set the scene for the trip before travelling round on game drives and seeing all the amazing wildlife South Africa has, truly a once in a lifetime experience. The culture in South Africa is really incredible and the locals loved putting on performances for us and getting us involved. And finally we arrived in Cape Town, which stole my heart. The most beautiful city on earth! South Africa I will be back and Intro Travel, thank you for making this trip all that it is!
Naomi Apr, 2025 VerifiedI participated in the South Africa trip. It was one of the most amazing vacations Ive ever had. Our Group leaders Dan & Diggie took care of everything and organized everything for us. I really would recommend booking the trip if you wanna see all the highlights from South Africa in a short time.
