• What is the physical rating or difficulty of this Inca Trail trek?

  The Inca Trail is a moderately hard trek, suitable for active travelers with a normal fitness level who can train for a few months. It involves high altitude, significant ascents, and descents. While previous trekking experience is not required, it's recommended to build up cardio and stamina.

• How does altitude affect this trek, and what are the acclimatization tips?

  Cusco city is at 3,300 meters (10,826 feet) above sea level, where the air is thinner. We strongly advise arriving at least two days prior to allow time for acclimatization to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Machu Picchu and Aguas Calientes are lower, around 2,000 meters (6,562 feet). Tips include deep breathing, resting, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding alcohol and drugs. Consult your GP about altitude medication.

• Are Inca Trail permits included in the tour cost?

  Yes, your Inca Trail permit is included in the trip cost. Due to government limits on visitors to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu (250 and 2500 people per day, respectively), and tickets for optional hikes selling out, we recommend booking your trek as far in advance as possible.

• What passport details are required for booking the permit?

  Our team will need your passport details to confirm your space and book your permit. If you plan to renew your passport before travel, it is vital to inform our team immediately and update them with your new details.

• What meals are included during the tour?

  The tour includes 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 1 dinner. On Day 1, you'll enjoy a picnic breakfast and lunch on the trail, followed by dinner in Aguas Calientes. Breakfast is also provided on Day 2.

• Where will I be staying overnight during the tour?

  One night of 3-star hotel accommodation is included in Aguas Calientes. The specific hotel is often the Susanna Hotel, but this depends on availability.

• Do I need to carry my own drinking water during the trek?

  Yes, there are no opportunities to refill water bottles during this trek. We recommend bringing at least 2 liters of drinking water to stay hydrated.

• What kind of emergency support is available on the trek?

  All guides are trained in First Aid and High Mountain rescue. In case a guest requires medical attention, our staff will assist. A medical kit and satellite phone are kept with the team at all times. In a rare serious medical emergency, you would be evacuated to the nearest medical center.

• Is Wi-fi available during the trek?

  Wi-fi will not be available during the trek. However, you can purchase a SIM card in Cusco if you wish. For emergencies, the tour operator carries a satellite phone.

• What is the best time of year to take this tour?

  Cusco has two main seasons: the rainy season from November to March and the dry season from April to October. The Inca Trail is closed in February each year for maintenance. We advise preparing for all types of weather by carrying a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and good rain gear.

• Are there any specific drug policies I should be aware of in Peru?

  Peru enforces extremely strict drug laws. Foreigners caught in possession or trafficking of illicit substances face arrest and heavy fines. We strongly advise against any involvement with illicit drugs.

• Is tipping customary for the tour staff?

  Tipping is optional and at your discretion. However, the tour operator ensures their staff are paid fairly, and the team generally works very hard to make your hike a success.

• What are the age restrictions for participating in this tour?

  The minimum age for this hiking adventure is 8 years old, and the maximum age is 99 years old.

• What is the maximum group size for this tour?

  The maximum group size for the Short Inca Trek and Machu Picchu tour is 16 people.
