Itinerary
Day 1
Kayseri to Cappadocia
Kayseri - Cappadocia. Once you have arrived in Kayseri or Cappadocia, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Cappadocia, where you will settle in for the evening and enjoy dinner.
Day 2
Exploring Cappadocia
This morning, we begin with a visit to Devrent Valley, where unusual rock formations and fairy chimneys create an almost lunar landscape. We walk through the valley to appreciate these natural formations up close.
We continue to Pasabagi, also known as Monk’s Valley, famous for its distinctive multi-stemmed fairy chimneys unique to this region.
From here, we drive to Avanos, a town renowned for its pottery tradition dating back to the Hittite period. The red clay used by local craftsmen comes from the Kizilirmak River, the longest river in Turkey.
After lunch, we visit the Goreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we explore churches, chapels and monasteries carved into the rock between the 10th and 13th centuries, many decorated with remarkably preserved frescoes.
Before returning to the hotel, we pause in the surrounding valleys for photographs and then head back for dinner together.
Please note: the Dark Church is not included and requires an additional entrance fee.
Day 3
Discovering Cappadocia
Today, you may wish to join an optional hot air balloon tour for an early morning view over Cappadocia’s unique landscape. After breakfast at the hotel, we depart at approximately 09.30 to 10.00 and drive to Ihlara Valley, created from the ashes of the volcanic Mount Hasan. We hike through the valley, which is watered by the Melendiz River, and continue towards Belisirma, where we break for lunch.
We then proceed to Selime to visit the hollowed-out citadel and churches set into the steep hillside among the fairy chimneys. We also stop at Yaprakhisar village for photographs.
In the afternoon, we visit Derinkuyu Underground City, where dwellings with stables, cellars, storage rooms, refectories, churches and wineries were used as refuges by Christian communities. Afterwards, we transfer back to our hotel in Cappadocia, where we enjoy dinner together.
Day 4
Departure from Kayseri
