Summary

Discover the culture and wild, natural beauty of Sri Lanka on a seven-day sailing with the perfect mix of chill-out time and exploration. Sail along the southern coast of Sri Lanka, stopping along the way at the old trading fort of Galle, remote beach towns, and the fishing village of Kudawella. When your landlocked feet get a little tired, there’s plenty of time for swimming, surfing, and enjoying the beach. Whether through your sunglasses or goggles, you’ve never seen Sri Lanka quite like this.

  • Are there any optional activities available during the tour?

Yes, optional activities include a visit to Kalametiya Village & Sanctuary and a Galle Fort and City Tour.
  • What is the physical rating for this tour?

This tour has a physical rating of 3. An average level of fitness and mobility is required, meaning travelers should be able to walk unaided, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their own luggage. A medical questionnaire may be required for pre-existing conditions.
  • How are solo travelers accommodated?

Solo travelers are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex, as the tour is designed for shared accommodation and does not involve a single supplement. A 'My Own Room' option is available for those who prefer a single room for all night stops.
  • What should I know about the catamaran's facilities and important onboard considerations?

The catamaran has 6 passenger cabins and an onboard kitchenette. Power onboard is 220V on European 2-pin sockets, but it's not a constant power source, so a battery pack is recommended for sleep apnea machines. Fresh water is limited, so showers are restricted to one quick shower per person per day. Cabin beds are approximately 1.8m (6 ft) in length.
  • Are there any luggage restrictions for the tour?

Yes, space on the boat is very limited. It is important to bring soft-sided luggage such as a mid-sized backpack or soft duffel bag, with a weight of less than 15kg (33 lbs). Hard suitcases are not permitted.
  • What is the recommended dress code and cultural etiquette for land excursions?

When on land, conservative dress is strongly recommended to respect local customs, meaning clothing that covers knees and shoulders (long pants, long skirts, shirts). Singlets, tank tops, short shorts, and topless sunbathing are not acceptable. Displaying body art or wearing clothing with an image of the Buddha is illegal and should be kept covered at all times.
  • What are the tipping guidelines in Sri Lanka and for the tour crew?

It is customary in Asia to tip service providers such as waiters (approximately 10%). For local guides and drivers, a guideline of $1.5-$3.5 USD per person per day is suggested. For the tour operator's CEO, Skipper, and Cook, tipping is appreciated at around $10-15 USD per person per day, if you felt they did an outstanding job.
