Itinerary
Day 1
Travel to Puno via Andahuaylillas & Raqchi
We begin the day with a transfer from your hotel to Cusco bus station, where we board the coach for a scenic journey to Puno through the stunning Andes. Along the way, we make three memorable stops.
First, we visit Andahuaylillas, a charming town 40 kilometres from Cusco, home to the remarkable 16th-century church often called the ‘Sistine Chapel of America’ for its ornate baroque interior and delicate frescoes. Here, you can also see the recently restored original pipe organ.
Next, we continue to Racchi to explore the impressive Temple of Wiracocha – a large rectangular structure resembling a wall with windows and doors, measuring 30 metres wide by 20 metres high. After this, we enjoy a delicious lunch in Sicuani before a brief stop at La Raya, the highest point on the route at 4,313 metres above sea level.
Our final stop is the town of Pucara, known as the earliest urban settlement in the region, dating from 100 to 300 AD. We visit the Pucara Lithic Museum to learn about its archaeological significance before driving on to Puno, where we check in to our hotel for the night.
Day 2
Explore Uros & Lake Titicaca
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you to Puno’s port to board a boat for a visit to the remarkable Uros Islands. These ancient floating islands are constructed entirely from the lake’s abundant totora reeds, including the houses built atop them. The Uros people maintain traditional ways of life, cooking outdoors to reduce fire risk.
Following an hour and a half exploring this unique community, we continue to Taquile Island, once part of the Inca Empire. Here, you’ll receive a brief introduction to the island’s history and enjoy a cultural demonstration. After a delicious lunch on Taquile, we return to Puno for your overnight stay.
Day 3
Farewell Puno
After a hearty breakfast, we transfer you from your hotel to the airport in Puno, ensuring a smooth and timely departure for your onward journey.
