Summary

Explore Central Europe on a seven-day journey from Prague to Budapest, taking in grand cities, imperial history and charming neighbourhoods along the way. Begin in Prague with guided visits to its castle, medieval lanes and iconic Charles Bridge before travelling south to elegant Vienna, where you’ll tour the Ringstrasse, stroll historic boulevards and enjoy time to explore at your own pace. Continue to Hungary’s vibrant capital to discover Parliament, Heroes’ Square and the hilltop sights of Buda. With optional river cruises, palace tours and day trips available, this itinerary blends culture, architecture and scenic landscapes in one easygoing adventure.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Prague

    Welcome to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. On arrival, make your way to the hotel for check-in. Prague is a city rich in history, culture and architectural splendour, often called the City of a Hundred Spires for its impressive skyline and well-preserved medieval buildings. Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 2

    Prague City Tour

    After breakfast, we begin with a panoramic bus tour of Prague's New Town, passing landmarks such as Wenceslas Square, Charles Square and the distinctive Dancing House. We then continue to Prague Castle for a guided walking tour, including Saint Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, Saint George's Basilica and the Golden Lane.

    We descend the Castle stairs and cross Charles Bridge, stopping briefly at Saint Nicholas Church. From the bridge, there is a fine view of the National Theatre. Next, we explore the Old Town, including the Klementinum, the charming Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock. The tour ends at the historic Estates Theatre, where Mozart premiered Don Giovanni. In the afternoon we return to the hotel.

    Vltava River Cruise You may choose to experience a relaxing cruise on the Vltava River, offering views of Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and Saint Vitus Cathedral from the water.

  • Day 3

    Travel to Vienna

    Prague - Vienna. After breakfast, we travel overland to Vienna, Austria's capital and the former heart of the Habsburg Empire. The journey takes us through the landscapes of Bohemia and Moravia. On arrival, we drive along the Ringstrasse, the grand boulevard commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph I in the late 19th century.

    Our panoramic bus tour includes the Vienna State Opera, the Hofburg Palace, the Museum of Art History, the Museum of Natural History, the Parliament, the Burgtheatre and the City Hall. We then enjoy a walking tour through the Hofburg complex and continue along the elegant Graben and Kohlmarkt, finishing at St Stephen's Cathedral. You have free time before we proceed to the hotel for check-in. You may wish to enhance your day with one of the optional experiences below.

    Schonbrunn Palace Skip-the-Line and Concert You may choose to visit Schönbrunn Palace with an audio-guided tour, followed by an evening concert in the Schönbrunn Orangery.

  • Day 4

    Vienna at Leisure

    Enjoy the day at leisure. You may explore Vienna independently or join an optional full-day tour to Salzburg, renowned for its musical heritage and baroque charm.

    Day Tour to Salzburg Travel by bus to Salzburg for a guided panoramic tour, including Mozartplatz, Residenzplatz, the Dom Cathedral, the Alter Markt, Getreidegasse, Universitaetsplatz and views of baroque landmarks such as St Peter's Abbey and Mirabell Palace.

  • Day 5

    Travel to Budapest

    Vienna - Budapest. After breakfast, we depart for Budapest, travelling through the Hungarian lowlands to the capital. On arrival, we begin our tour in the district of Pest, passing key sights such as the neo-Gothic Parliament, the Opera House and Heroes' Square.

    After free time for lunch, we continue into Buda for a guided walking tour, visiting the Royal Palace area, the Fishermen's Bastion and Matthias Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the end of the tour, we proceed to the hotel for check-in.

  • Day 6

    Budapest at Leisure

    After breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure to explore Budapest at your own pace or join an optional tour. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the hotel.

    Day Tour to Godollo You may choose to visit Godollo, home to one of Hungary's most elegant palaces, known as Sissi's Castle. Explore the reconstructed royal apartments once used by Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph I, and enjoy free time in the afternoon before returning to Budapest.

  • Day 7

    Budapest

    After breakfast, make your own way to Budapest International Airport for your flight home.
