Summary
Journey across the Iberian Peninsula on this 11-day tour from Porto to Madrid and back. Admire Porto’s World Heritage landmarks and taste its famous port wine before heading to historic Coimbra and the pilgrimage town of Fátima. Continue to vibrant Lisbon to see Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery, then cross into Spain to visit Mérida’s Roman ruins and the lively streets of Seville. Travel through the White Villages to the Costa del Sol and Granada’s magnificent Alhambra before reaching Toledo’s medieval charm. Conclude in elegant Madrid before returning to Porto.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Porto
Once you have arrived in Porto, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for check-in. You will then have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Porto, grab a meal, or relax.
Please note: This tour is bilingual and will be conducted in Spanish as well as in English.
Day 2
Discovering Porto’s Heritage
Today, make your way to the meeting point at 7:30 am, where we begin our exploration of Porto, a city recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We enjoy a panoramic tour that takes us past some of the city’s most remarkable landmarks, including the Cathedral, the impressive former Stock Exchange building, and the beautifully adorned Church of St Clara. < We end the day with a visit to a traditional wine cellar, where we have the opportunity to sample Porto’s world-famous Port wine.

Day 3
Porto to Coimbra
Porto - Coimbra. This morning, we depart for Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and the birthplace of Fado, Portugal’s traditional music. We enjoy lunch together before you have some free time to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 4
Fátima to Lisbon
Coimbra - Fatima - Lisbon. After breakfast, we depart for Fátima, one of the world’s most important pilgrimage centres. You have free time to visit the Sanctuary and reflect in this place of devotion and peace.
We then continue our journey to Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, beautifully set at the mouth of the River Tagus. Upon arrival, we settle into our accommodation.
This evening, you may choose to join an optional night tour to experience a live Fado performance, where traditional Portuguese songs and music capture the soul of the nation.
Day 5
Discovering Lisbon
This morning, we set out on a panoramic sightseeing tour of Lisbon, a city beautifully positioned at the mouth of the River Tagus. We take in the hilltop views from Edward VII Park, stroll through the lively Rossio Square, and travel along the elegant Liberdade Avenue before exploring the historic Madragoa District, known as the birthplace of Fado, Portugal’s traditional music.
We then continue to the Belém District to admire the iconic Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries, and the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery.
You have the afternoon free to explore the city further or perhaps join an optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril.
Day 6
Portugal to Andalucía
Lisbon (Portugal) - Merida (Spain) - Seville. We depart towards the Spanish border and make our way to Mérida. You have free time to explore its remarkable archaeological site, home to the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both recognised as UNESCO World Heritage landmarks.
Enjoy lunch at your leisure before we continue along the Silver Route towards Andalucía, arriving in Seville. This evening, we enjoy dinner together before settling into our accommodation.
Day 7
Discovering Seville
Today, we enjoy a guided city tour of Seville, exploring some of its most iconic sights. We visit María Luisa Park and the grand Plaza de España, admire the exterior of the city’s magnificent Cathedral and its famous bell tower, the Giralda, and wander through the charming Santa Cruz district with its narrow streets, lively squares, and traditional Andalusian character.
You may wish to take an optional cruise along the Guadalquivir River, offering a panoramic view of the Gold Tower and the Expo 92 site, or visit the historic Maestranza bullring. Lunch is at your leisure.
In the evening, you can choose to experience an optional flamenco show, where passionate dance and music bring Andalusian culture to life. We stay overnight in Seville.
Day 8
The White Villages & Costa del Sol
Seville - Ronda - Costa del Sol. After breakfast, we set out along the scenic Route of the White Villages, travelling through charming hilltop towns on our way to Ronda. You have free time to explore this beautiful town, known for its dramatic views and historic architecture.
We then continue our journey to the Costa del Sol, where we enjoy dinner together before settling into our accommodation.
Day 9
The Wonders of Granada
Costa del Sol - Granada. This morning, we depart for Granada to visit the magnificent complex of the Alhambra and Generalife, once the residence of Moorish kings. We explore its beautiful gardens, graceful arches, and elegant fountains, all reflecting the splendour of Islamic architecture in Spain.
In the evening, we enjoy dinner together and settle into our accommodation. You may also choose to join an optional visit to the Sacromonte caves to experience a traditional gypsy flamenco show.
Please note: If tickets for the Alhambra and Generalife are unavailable, a city tour of Granada will be offered instead.
Day 10
Toledo & Madrid
Granada - Toledo - Madrid. Today, we depart for the Imperial City of Toledo, a place rich in history and filled with remarkable monuments. We enjoy lunch together before taking in the panoramic views from the Mirador del Valle, followed by a walk through the city’s atmospheric old town.
We then continue our journey back to Madrid, where we arrive and settle into our accommodation.
Day 11
Salamanca and Return to Porto
Madrid - Salamanca (Spain) - Porto (Portugal). After our final breakfast, we depart for Salamanca, an ancient and distinguished university city renowned for its rich heritage. You have free time to wander through the historic centre and admire the magnificent Baroque-style Plaza Mayor, one of Spain’s most beautiful squares.
We then continue our journey back to Porto, where our tour concludes.
