Summary

Witness a once in a lifetime moment as you take in the total solar eclipse of August 2, 2027 along the central axis on this signature 7-day tour from Casablanca. The adventure opens with a guided tour of Rabat, taking in the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V, before moving on to the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. From here, this trip continues north to Tetouan, ahead of the tour's centrepiece: watching the eclipse unfold from the Tetouan coast. The journey then heads to the ancient city of Fes, exploring its tanneries, souks and winding medina, before the Roman ruins of Volubilis and Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque bring things to a close.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrive in Casablanca

Arrive in Casablanca and make your own way from the airport to your accommodation, where you can unwind by the pool ahead of a pre-departure meeting at 6 pm. This is your first chance to meet your guide and the rest of the group before the tour gets underway.

  • Day 2

    Exploring Rabat & Chefchaouen

Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen. The day starts early as we make our way to Rabat, Morocco's official capital, where our guide leads us on a tour of the city's major landmarks. We see the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of the Alaouite King Mohamed V and his son Hassan II, before continuing on to the Oudaya Kasbah, a fortified building once used to defend the city from European invasion.

From here, we continue to Chefchaouen, known as "the Blue City," for a guided tour late in the afternoon. Set high in the Rif Mountains, this historic town began life as a Berber defence post and is famous today for its blue door and white-walled medina. Our guide brings us to the main square, the heart of Chefchaouen, home to an 18th-century kasbah, a central mosque and cafes serving authentic local menus. We wander the narrow, blue-painted alleyways together, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere.

Those keen to get hands-on can join an optional cooking class here today, at an additional cost.

  • Day 3

Free Time in Chefchaouen and Tetouan

Chefchaouen - Tetouan. After breakfast, you have some free time in Chefchaouen this morning before we drive to the centre of Tetouan, arriving at around 2 to 2:30 pm.

Once here, you're free to explore this charming northern city - admire the exterior of the Royal Palace, discover the architecture of Our Lady of Victories Church, or simply relax at a local cafe over a coffee or mint tea while watching daily life unfold around you.

  • Day 4

    Total Solar Eclipse & Fes

Tetouan - Fes. Today, August 2, 2027, brings the main event of the tour: this morning, we watch the total solar eclipse together on the stunning coast of Tetouan, a rare phenomenon as the moon passes in front of the sun and a truly memorable experience. Our location in Tetouan is located along the central axis of the eclipse, and we will experience 4 minutes and 53 seconds of totality - plenty of time to snap some great photos!

Afterwards, we make the drive to Fes, the oldest and largest medieval city in the world, where you can get ready for an optional evening of Moroccan entertainment and food at a restaurant in town.

  • Day 5

    Guided Tour of Fes

We begin the day with a fully guided tour of Fes, taking in the city's mix of aromas, winding passages, bustling sounds and sights as our guide leads us along one of five themed tourist circuits. There are plenty of mosques and palaces to see, though only Muslims are permitted to enter the mosques themselves.

We explore the tanneries, souks and potteries, wander the mystifying Medina and learn the fascinating history of the city, passing by some of the houses of the Jewish Quarter.

  • Day 6

    Volubilis, Meknes and Casablanca

Fes - Volubilis - Meknes - Casablanca. We leave Fes at around 8:30 am for a guided visit to Volubilis, where we explore the Roman ruins and learn about the archaeological site and its place in Moroccan history.

In Meknes, we stop for lunch and some free time for you to explore. From here, we continue the drive to Casablanca, arriving in time to see the striking Hassan II Mosque at 4 pm - entrance is not included.

  • Day 7

    Casablanca

After your final breakfast, your tour comes to an end and it's time to say goodbye. Make your own way to the airport or your next destination.
