Itinerary
Day 1
Auckland to Omapere

Kauri forests, lakes & the Far North.
We leave Auckland behind and head north, stopping along the way to ease into the adventure.
On the way, we'll stop at the Kauri Museum in Matakohe, where you’ll learn the story of New Zealand’s mighty kauri trees and early pioneers.
After a lunch stop in Dargaville, we cool off with a visit to the stunning Kai Iwi Lakes - crystal-clear freshwater surrounded by native forest. Later, we venture into the legendary Waipoua Forest, home to Tāne Mahuta, the largest living kauri tree in New Zealand. Depending on timing, your Waipoua experience takes place either today or tomorrow.
We finish the day on the west coast in Omapere, checking into our beachfront accommodation. Tonight, enjoy a relaxed fish & chips dinner (included) as the sun sets over the Tasman Sea.
Day 2
Omapere to Paihia

West Coast to Bay of Islands
This morning is all about flexibility. If we didn’t visit Waipoua yesterday, you’ll explore the forest today - either en route or via a complimentary local shuttle.
We’ll then cross the Far North toward the east coast, stopping at a winery after lunch for a relaxed wine tasting before arriving in Paihia later in the afternoon. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day and evening are completely free.
Take time to unwind by the waterfront, choose from a range of optional activities, or simply explore this vibrant Bay of Islands town at your own pace.
Day 3
Bay of Islands

Free Day in the Bay of Islands
Today is yours to design.
Spend the day exactly how you like - cruise the Bay of Islands, go dolphin spotting, kayak to secluded beaches, visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, or simply enjoy a relaxed day by the water with great food and ocean views.
Your included Waitangi Treaty Grounds combo pass allows you to explore the grounds at your own pace. Your guide will be on hand throughout the day to help arrange optional activities or share local tips.
In the evening, you’ll come together for an included Hāngī dinner at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds - a traditional Māori feast and cultural experience.
Day 4
Paihia to Auckland

We journey south today with a few unforgettable stops along the way.
Our first highlight is a stop in the charming Matakana Village. Enjoy some free time to relax over lunch, browse the boutique shops and local galleries, or sample the region’s renowned wines at The Vintry, which offers tastings from a selection of local vineyards. It’s the perfect laid-back way to wrap up your Northland adventure before returning to Auckland in the late afternoon.
Day 5
Auckland to Mount Maunganui

Get ready for a day filled with adventure and stunning scenery as we depart Auckland and make our way to Tauranga. Along the way, we'll pause for a pleasant stroll and indulge in a satisfying lunch in Paeroa. Afterwards, we'll follow the stunning coastline to reach the charming town of Mt Maunganui, where we'll spend the afternoon soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. Be sure to pack your swimsuit and a towel as we will be visiting one of New Zealand's most stunning beaches! As the day winds down, we’ll come together for a group dinner, a wonderful opportunity to share stories from the day, connect with fellow travellers, and savour some delicious local cuisine.
Day 6
Mount Maunganui to Rotorua

Get ready for a day of enchantment and wonder as we embark on a journey to Rotorua. We'll begin our day with a visit to Hobbiton, the famous movie set featured in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. During our guided tour, we'll learn about the movie-making process, explore the intricate details of the set, and even enjoy a delicious lunch in the charming Shire's Rest Cafe. Afterwards, we'll continue our journey to Rotorua, where we'll be surrounded by natural hot springs and geothermal wonders.
Day 7
Rotorua

Today is yours to embrace the activities of your choice, from the adrenaline-pumping white water rafting on the Kaituna River to a relaxing soak in the Polynesian Spa's thermal pools. Alternatively, you might choose to explore the Redwoods Treewalk, take an e-bike tour, or hike up the stunning Mt Tarawera. Whatever your preference, we'll ensure that you have a memorable day in Rotorua.
Day 8
Rotorua to Taupo

Today, we'll journey to the Huka Falls to witness the incredible power of the falls and stop at Wai-o-Tapu geothermal wonders, before making our way to Taupō. In the evening, you have the option to embark on a stunning sunset cruise, where you'll take in the stunning views of Lake Taupō and its surrounding landscape.
Day 9
Taupo

Taupo is all about relaxation and exploration. Spend the day at your own pace, exploring the town's local attractions or taking part in one of the optional activities. The Tongariro Crossing or jet boating is a popular option for those seeking adventure, while fishing, scenic flights, or a soak in some hot springs and are also available for those looking for a more relaxed experience.
Day 10
Taupo to Raglan (via Waitomo)

Get ready for a day filled with adventure and discovery as we depart from Taupo and head to Waitomo Caves. Here, we'll embark on a guided tour to explore the magical world of Waitomo's underground caves, marvel at the fascinating limestone formations, and witness the mesmerising glowworms that light up the caverns.
After our cave adventure, we'll head to the stunning Hamilton Gardens, famous for its exquisite themed gardens, each representing different civilisations, cultures, and historical periods. You'll enjoy a guided tour of the gardens before we make our way to Raglan, where we’ll stay overnight. Raglan is a relaxed coastal town with stunning ocean views, boutique cafes, and a laid-back atmosphere, the perfect place to unwind and soak in New Zealand’s coastal charm.
Day 11
Raglan to Auckland

Spend the morning in Raglan, known for its black sand beaches and world-class surf breaks. Take a leisurely walk or bike ride around the town, explore the beachfront and harbour, or simply soak in the relaxed charm of this quintessential New Zealand seaside town.
Later, we’ll travel back to Auckland, where you will be dropped off at the airport to embark on your journey to the South Island to continue your adventure.
Day 12
Christchurch to Punakaiki

Today you embark on the world-renowned TranzAlpine train journey, one of the most scenic train rides in the world. As the train winds through the Southern Alps, you’ll pass snow-capped peaks, lush forests, and river valleys. Arriving in Greymouth, your tour guide and vehicle will be waiting for you. From here, we head to stunning Punakaiki, home of the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes.
To round off the day, the group will gather for an included dinner, a relaxed way to share stories, connect with fellow travellers, and celebrate the start of your South Island adventure.

Punakaiki

Today is yours to explore the coastal wonders of Punakaiki. Discover the spectacular Pancake Rocks, where columns of water shoot skyward through natural rock formations. Wander through coastal rainforests, explore limestone cliffs, caves, and pristine beaches, or take a leisurely walk along the rugged coastline. If you're after a more active adventure, kayak through a valley of monumental limestone cliffs in Paparoa National Park. The beauty of this area offers a truly memorable experience.
Day 14
Punakaiki to Abel Tasman

Travel along the wild West Coast, stopping to take in scenic views, seal colonies, and lighthouse vistas. As we head inland through the picturesque Nelson Lakes, we make our way towards Abel Tasman National Park, considered one of New Zealand's most beautiful destinations. Arrive in the quaint Abel Tasman region and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure, exploring the charming local town or relaxing at your premium accommodation.
Day 15
Abel Tasman

Spend a full day discovering the wonders of Abel Tasman National Park. Choose from a variety of experiences to suit your interests, such as kayaking along the golden shores, hiking the coastal track, or even trying more exhilarating activities like canyoning or skydiving. Alternatively, relax with a peaceful walk along the beach and enjoy the stunning scenery, which offers one of the best beach experiences in New Zealand. Keep an eye out for native wildlife like the Tui and Tuatara.
Day 16
Abel Tasman to Malborough

Leaving Abel Tasman behind, we drive through the picturesque Marlborough region, famous for its vineyards and world-class Sauvignon Blanc. Enjoy a stop at one of the local wineries for lunch and a tasting to savour the region’s finest wines and take in the stunning views over the vineyards.
Day 17
Malborough to Kaikoura

After a nourishing breakfast, we continue on to Kaikōura, a small coastal town renowned for its dramatic coastal scenery and exceptional wildlife encounters. The afternoon is yours to enjoy - whether you choose to spot seals along the shoreline, embark on a whale-watching tour, or swim with dolphins, you’ll have the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most remarkable marine life at your own pace.
Day 18
Kaikoura to Christchurch

This morning, take some time to soak in the stunning views of the Kaikōura mountains and enjoy a final relaxed start to the day. In the late morning, we begin our journey back to Christchurch, stopping at a local winery along the way to enjoy some refreshments. Your guide will then continue on to Christchurch, arriving at approximately 4:00 pm.
Day 19
Christchurch to Tekapo

Continuing your South Island adventure from Christchurch, we'll travel through the stunning Rakaia Gorge, a picturesque natural wonder. We'll stop for lunch in the charming town of Geraldine, where you can taste some of the best local food and drinks. Then, we'll make our way to the beautiful Lake Tekapo, famous for its turquoise water and incredible views of the Southern Alps. In the evening, the group will gather for another included dinner as you kick off the third week of your adventure.
Day 20
Tekapo to Te Anau

Today, our travels lead us southward to the picturesque Te Anau. Along the way, we'll pause at the iconic Mt Difficulty Vineyard, where a delightful lunch and wine-tasting experience await, promising to tantalize your taste buds and leave them dancing with joy. It's a perfect opportunity to savour the flavours of the region amidst stunning surroundings, adding a memorable highlight to our journey.

Te Anau to Queenstown (via Milford Sound)

Prepare to be awestruck as we travel to Milford Sound, often called the eighth wonder of the world. Enjoy a scenic cruise through the fiord, past majestic waterfalls and towering cliffs, and breathtaking landscapes that make this place so special, with the chance to spot some of the local wildlife. Afterwards, we'll head to Queenstown, which is nestled amidst majestic mountains and pristine lakes.

Today is a free day for you to explore the adventure capital of the world. With a plethora of optional activities available, such as bungy jumping, skydiving, jet boating, a scenic hike or a leisurely stroll around the city's charming streets, there's something for everyone.

Queenstown to Franz Josef

Today, our journey takes us from the charming Queenstown to the breathtaking Franz Josef, renowned for its majestic glaciers. En route, we'll pause in Wanaka, a serene lakeside gem offering some of New Zealand's most captivating vistas. As we drive up the scenic west coast, prepare to be spellbound by the unparalleled beauty of the landscape unfolding before us.

Today offers you the freedom to delve into the wonders of Franz Josef at your own pace. You can opt for a guided glacier walk, immersing yourself in the icy magnificence. Alternatively, indulge in relaxation at the soothing thermal pools or elevate your experience with a thrilling helicopter tour, unveiling the mesmerizing vistas of the surrounding terrain. Day 25
Franz Josef to Christchurch

On our final day, we'll make our way back to Christchurch, stopping in Hokitika, famous for its jade carvings, and Arthur's Pass, known for its stunning mountain landscapes. Finally, we'll visit Castle Hill, a collection of incredible limestone rock formations that are sure to leave you in awe. We'll finish our tour back in Christchurch, where you can reflect on the incredible experiences and memories made during your premium bus tour of New Zealand.
