GROUP TOUR (FOR AGES 18 - 49): Explore the best of Sri Lanka on this 12-day group tour from Negombo to Mirissa. Starting with a tuk-tuk ride through Negombo's local markets, the tour heads inland to take in views of the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress from the neighbouring rock, before a village visit and cooking demonstration with locals. Travelling south to Kandy, a stop at a spice garden leads to the sacred Temple of the Tooth, then it's on through the tea plantations to learn the art of picking and brewing before boarding one of the world's most scenic train rides into Ella. A hike to Little Adam's Peak and a visit to the famous Nine Arches Bridge set up a sunrise jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, where wild elephants, crocodiles and buffalo roam freely. The final stretch brings a surf lesson at Weligama Beach, sunset views from Coconut Tree Hill, and a cultural exchange with monk students at a Buddhist monastery, before the tour wraps up in the laid-back coastal town of Mirissa.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Colombo & Transfer to Negombo

    Colombo - Negombo. Upon arrival in Colombo you will be met and transferred to our beachfront accommodation in Negombo. You will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Negombo or relax. Later in the evening we will gather with our group for a welcome dinner at 7 PM.

    Please note: This tour is designed for younger travellers looking to meet like-minded people. The average age on this tour is around 25 - 35, and in most cases we are unfortunately unable to take any travellers over the age of 49.   • Day 2

    Negombo by Tuk Tuk

    Negombo - Sigiriya. This morning we jump into tuk-tuks to explore the pretty seaside town of Negombo, stopping off to take in the local markets. From here we head inland to the town of Sigiriya, checking in to our hotel for the next two nights.

  • Day 3

    Sirigiya Rock Fortress Trek & Cooking Demonstration

    We began our day with stunning views of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, we will be climbing the neighbouring towering rock to enjoy breathtaking panoramas of lush greenery and ancient history.

    Next, we immersed ourselves in an authentic village experience, travelling by traditional transport to reach the heart of rural life. Welcomed by the locals, we watched a cooking demonstration by village women, savouring their culinary traditions before dining on their delicious creations. It was a true taste of life connected to nature and heritage.

  • Day 4

    Spice Gardens Transfer & Temple of the Tooth

    Sigiriya - Kandy. Today, we’ll travel south passing through the Spice Gardens to Kandy, the cultural heart of Sri Lanka, nestled in the lush, misty hills. Once we arrive, we’ll visit the remarkable Temple of the Tooth, a revered site known for its deep spiritual significance and stunning architecture.

    As the day ends, you can enjoy dinner and drinks at one of the local restaurants, taking in the charm and tranquillity of this captivating city.

  • Day 5

    Tea Production & Scenic Train

    Kandy - Ella.You head south this morning into Sri Lanka's tea country, where rows of green plantations roll across the hills as far as you can see. Stop along the way to learn the craft behind the island's most famous export — picking the tender top leaves by hand, then watching how they're withered, rolled and dried into the tea that fills cups around the world. From here you board what's often called the world's most scenic train, winding through tunnels, tea estates and misty valleys to the hill town of Ella. On arrival, settle in before heading into town for dinner and a night out.

  • Day 6

    Ella at Leisure & Hike to Little Adam's Peak

    After a well-earned lie-in, we lace up our boots for the hike to Little Adam's Peak, where sweeping views across tea-covered hills and distant mountain ranges make the climb well worth it. The afternoon is yours - a good chance to explore Ella's pretty streets, treat yourself to a traditional massage, or find a quiet spot with a book and a cup of tea.

  • Day 7

    Nine Arches Bridge & Transfer to Udawalawe

    Ella - Udawalawe National Park. This morning, we’ll set off to explore the famous Nine Arches Bridge, marveling at its grandeur as it spans across a lush, green valley. After taking in the views and the serenity of the area, we’ll continue our journey south to the remarkable Udawalawe National Park.

  • Day 8

    Sunrise Safari, Transfer to Hiriketiya & Tallala

    Udawalawe National Park - Tallala. Today, we’ll rise early to catch the sunrise and set off by jeep into the awe-inspiring Udawalawe National Park. As we journey through the park, we’ll have the chance to observe herds of wild, free-roaming elephants, crocodiles, and a wealth of fascinating birdlife in their natural habitat.

    Afterwards, we’ll make our way to the tranquil beachside haven of Hiriketiya for a relaxing afternoon, before heading to our beachfront eco-retreat in the beautiful village of Tallala. Here, we’ll unwind and end the day watching the sunset, enjoying a delicious barbecue as the colours of the sky change over the horizon.

  • Day 9

    Tallala at Leisure

    Today, you will have the day at leisure to enjoy as you please. Let the serene atmosphere of this beautiful retreat wash over you. You can take part in the complimentary yoga session, relax with a book by the pool, indulge in a rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage, or simply rest under a palm tree while soaking up the charm of one of the south's hidden beaches. It’s the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings at your own pace.

  • Day 10

    Surfing Lesson & Transfer to Mirissa

    This morning, we’ll continue our journey along the stunning coastline, stopping at the laid-back and welcoming Weligama Beach for a private surf lesson. The friendly instructors and gentle waves make it the perfect spot to embrace the thrill of the ocean.

    Afterward, we’ll head to Mirissa and check into our beautiful beachfront accommodation, where we can relax and soak up the coastal vibes. Later, we’ll visit the iconic Coconut Tree Hill, taking in its breathtaking views of the turquoise waters and swaying palms.

  • Day 11

    Buddhist Monastery Exploration

    Today, we’ll visit a Buddhist Monastery, where we’ll have the special opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange with the monk students who reside there. It’s a chance to gain a unique insight into their daily lives and the traditions of Buddhist teachings, leaving us with a deeper appreciation of this peaceful way of life.

    This evening, to celebrate our final night together, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner on the beach.

  • Day 12

    Goodbye Mirissa

    Today will mark the end of our tour, you will greet your fellow travellers and guides before making your way to the airport in Colombo for your onward flight. Although there is no departure transfer included, your tour leader will be available to help you plan your onward travel and is on hand to assist you.
