Itinerary
Day 1
Killin Falls and Oban
Edinburgh - Loch Lomond - Oban. Our Highland journey begins with a scenic drive through the rolling landscapes of Perthshire and into Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. We pause in the village of Killin at the Falls of Dochart - a picture-perfect setting where rushing water cascades beneath the stone bridge, capturing the character of rural Scotland.
At the Falls of Dochart Smokehouse, we enjoy a taste of authentic Scottish produce. From locally sourced cheddar to whisky-smoked salmon, the focus here is on traditional slow food prepared with care and local provenance.
Continuing west, we arrive in Oban, widely known as the seafood capital of Scotland. We visit the historic Oban Distillery - one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries - where the influence of the sea air shapes the character of every cask. Later, you may wish to enjoy fresh shellfish along the harbourfront or join a lively evening ceilidh, a traditional gathering filled with Highland music and dancing.
Departure Point: Caffé Nero, 1 Parliament Square, Royal Mile, Edinburgh 07:15 am
Please Note: Due to various reasons (weather, closures and special events) it may not always be possible to visit all distilleries and other attractions mentioned. Please be aware that, if this is the case, we will ensure that suitable alternatives are found.
Day 2
Mull and Tobermory Harbour
Oban - Tobermory - Mull. This morning we board the ferry to the Isle of Mull, sailing across open water towards the island’s rugged coastline. After disembarking, we follow Mull’s dramatic western shore, stopping at the striking Eas Fors Waterfall and the peaceful white sands of Calgary Bay.
We then arrive in Tobermory, one of Scotland’s most recognisable harbours, where brightly coloured houses line the waterfront and reflect across the bay. After time for lunch and a chance to browse the town’s small shops and galleries, we visit Tobermory Distillery for a special warehouse tasting.
Founded in 1798, Tobermory Distillery reflects the long whisky-making heritage of the Hebrides. During our tasting, we sample rare cask-strength expressions of both Tobermory and Ledaig while expert hosts share stories of the island’s whisky traditions, peat influence and local character.
Day 3
Iona or Staffa Island
After breakfast, you may choose between two memorable island experiences.
You can travel to Iona, often described as the spiritual heart of Scotland. St Columba founded a monastery here in the 6th century, and the abbey remains an important place of pilgrimage set among white beaches and peaceful landscapes.
Alternatively, you can visit Staffa, a small uninhabited island famous for its dramatic hexagonal basalt columns. The island inspired Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, and its caves, seabirds and powerful Atlantic waves create a striking natural spectacle.
Later we return to Mull for a culinary highlight at the Ninth Wave Food Experience. Set within a 200-year-old stone bothy on the island’s open moorland, this celebrated restaurant showcases the best of Mull’s natural larder.
Chef Carla Lamont, a quarter finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals, works alongside her partner John, a local fisherman, to create an inventive five-course menu using foraged ingredients and freshly caught seafood. Before dinner, we join Carla for a short walk through her garden to learn about the heirloom herbs and island-grown ingredients that shape the evening’s dishes.
Day 4
Nc’Nean Distillery and Glencoe
Mull - Glencoe - Edinburgh. We sail back to the mainland on the Fishnish ferry before travelling through the quiet landscapes of the Morvern Peninsula - one of Scotland’s most remote and unspoiled regions.
Here we visit Nc’Nean Distillery, an innovative organic distillery known for its sustainable approach to whisky-making. Powered by renewable energy and committed to zero-waste production, Nc’Nean is helping to shape a modern vision for Scotch whisky. During our visit, we enjoy a tasting while learning about their experimental spirit-making and environmentally focused philosophy.
After lunch, we continue through the dramatic valley of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most powerful landscapes where steep mountains and deep glens hold centuries of history. We stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre before continuing south to Callander, a welcoming Highland gateway town known for its cafés, small shops and relaxed atmosphere.
We return to Edinburgh in the early evening, bringing our Highland journey to a close with memories of island landscapes, coastal air and Scotland’s rich food and whisky traditions.
