Mediterranean to Alpine Adventure - 6 Days

Upon your arrival in Barcelona, we'll arrange for your transfer to the hotel. You'll have some free time to unwind and explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, you'll find essential details about the commencement of your tour displayed on the information boards in the hotel reception area, ensuring you're well-prepared for the days ahead. Stay overnight in Barcelona for a relaxing start to your adventure. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.

On our second day, we start by exploring the remarkable city of Barcelona, often called the City of Counts. Positioned along the stunning Mediterranean coastline, Barcelona is renowned for its modernist architecture by Gaudí, the lively atmosphere of Las Ramblas, and its rich historical backdrop, highlighted by events such as the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. This vibrant city stands out as one of Europe's most captivating capitals. As evening approaches, we depart from Barcelona and head north into the Catalonia region. Our journey takes us to Girona, where we will wander through its historic centre. Here, you can admire the city's colourful houses, the ancient Jewish quarter, and the impressive cathedral, before we settle in for the night.

Today, we set off for France, journeying through the picturesque Provence region. Our first destination is the charming town of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its connection to Vincent Van Gogh. In Arles, we can explore the Roman theatre and quaint Romanesque churches, as well as indulge in an enjoyable lunch. Our next highlight is a visit to the Carrières des Lumières. This extraordinary underground art exhibition captivates visitors with its dynamic display of art, images, and sound within a historic quarry. Should tickets be unavailable due to high demand, we will offer an alternative visit to the Pont du Gard, a famous Roman aqueduct. In the evening, we arrive in Chambéry, the historic capital of Savoy. This medieval-style city boasts a beautiful historic centre and an impressive large castle, offering an enriching end to our day's journey.

We'll begin our day by heading to Switzerland, with Geneva as our first destination. Here, accompanied by our guide, we'll visit the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We'll also stroll through the charming English Garden, famous for its floral clock, and admire the Jet d'Eau, Europe's tallest fountain. Our next stop is the enchanting village of Gruyères, renowned worldwide for its cheese. For a delightful treat, we include a visit to the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, where a tasting experience awaits you.

Our journey continues along picturesque routes, surrounded by scenic mountain landscapes and charming wooden villages, leading us to Chillon Castle, beautifully positioned on the shores of Lake Geneva. The entry to this stunning castle is included. By mid-afternoon, we'll arrive in the holiday village of Leysin, offering breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports and hiking opportunities, Leysin will be our home for the night. Enjoy an included dinner as you rest and prepare for the adventures ahead. Please note that, depending on availability, accommodation may sometimes be in another lovely Swiss town nestled in the Alps, such as Martigny.

Prepare for a day of breathtaking alpine landscapes as we embark on an excursion to Glacier 3000. Remember to bring your winter attire, as this destination offers year-round ice and snow. We'll take a cable car ride to reach this stunning location, where you can cross the suspended bridge linking two peaks, delve into the mesmerising Ice Cathedral, or enjoy the fun-filled activities at the Fun Park. Following this, we'll pause in Interlaken to savour a delicious lunch amidst the striking scenery. Later, we'll journey to the picturesque city of Lucerne, renowned for its captivating beauty. Our day concludes in Zurich, where you'll have some time to explore the city centre and soak in its vibrant atmosphere before we head to the hotel. Please note, if the Glacier 3000 cable car is not operational due to weather or other conditions, we will arrange an equally awe-inspiring alternative to appreciate Switzerland's alpine splendour.

On Day 6, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, reflecting on the exciting journey you've just experienced. This marks the conclusion of our tour, as we bid farewell with fond memories of our shared adventures.
