Discover the best of Greece over nine days, starting and ending in Athens. You’ll explore the capital’s iconic sights, including the Acropolis, before island-hopping to Mykonos and Santorini - expect whitewashed streets, windmills, volcanic views and plenty of time to unwind by the sea. Back on the mainland, delve into ancient history at Delphi and marvel at the dramatic cliff-top monasteries of Meteora. With a mix of guided touring and free time, this journey blends culture, scenery and relaxed island living, giving you a well-rounded taste of Greece’s most memorable highlights.
Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Athens
On arrival in Athens, we are met at the airport and transferred to our hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free to settle in and explore independently. You may wish to take a short walk nearby or enjoy a relaxed dinner after your journey.
Day 2
Athens City Tour & Transfer to Mykonos
This morning we explore Athens on a guided tour, taking in key landmarks including the Panathenaic Stadium - site of the first modern Olympic Games - the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and Syntagma Square. We continue to the Acropolis, the city’s most important ancient site, followed by a visit to the Acropolis Museum.
After the tour, you transfer to Rafina port and take a ferry to Mykonos, arriving in the evening and transferring to your hotel.
Day 3
Explore Mykonos at Leisure
Today is free to enjoy Mykonos at your own pace. You can wander through its narrow lanes lined with whitewashed houses, visit the iconic 16th-century windmills, or stop by Paraportiani Church near the harbour. There is plenty of time to relax, explore local shops, or dine by the sea.
Day 4
Journey to Santorini and Explore Fira
You have a free morning before transferring to the port for a fast ferry to Santorini. On arrival, you are transferred to our hotel.
The rest of the day is open to explore Fira, the island’s main town set along the caldera cliffs, known for its sweeping sea views and distinctive blue-domed churches.
Day 5
Free Time to Discover Santorini
A full day at leisure to experience Santorini. You may choose to relax on its volcanic beaches, explore local villages, or take in the island’s famous sunset views.
Optional excursions include a boat trip to the volcanic islets of Nea Kammeni and Palea Kammeni, where you can swim in thermal waters.
Day 6
Return to Athens
Transfer to the port this morning and take the ferry back to Piraeus. On arrival, you are met and transferred to our hotel in Athens. The afternoon is free to relax or explore further.
Day 7
Uncover Delphi & Transfer to Kalambaka
We leave Athens by coach for Delphi, once considered the centre of the ancient world. Here we explore the Sanctuary of Apollo, where the famous oracle delivered prophecies, along with the theatre, stadium and museum, home to significant artefacts such as the Charioteer of Delphi.
We continue through central Greece to Kalambaka, arriving in the early evening. Dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 8
Visit Meteora & Head Back to Athens via Thermopylae
This morning we visit Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its monasteries perched on towering sandstone pillars. We explore two of these remarkable monasteries and learn about their history and monastic life.
On the return to Athens, we stop at Thermopylae, the site of the historic battle between the Spartans and Persians. We arrive back in Athens in the early evening.
Day 9
Goodbye Athens
Depending on your flight time, transfer to the airport for departure. The tour concludes with a rich mix of ancient history, island landscapes and memorable experiences across Greece.
