Summary
Explore northern Spain on this six-day journey from Madrid to Santiago de Compostela and back. Travel through León’s Gothic splendour, the elegant city of Oviedo, and the Atlantic charm of La Coruña before reaching the pilgrimage heart of Santiago. Enjoy guided visits to historic cathedrals, sample Galician seafood and Ribeiro wine in the scenic Rías Bajas, and unwind by the coast in Vigo. On the return, stop in Salamanca to admire its grand Plaza Mayor before ending in Madrid. This route combines culture, coastal beauty and centuries of history in one memorable Spanish adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1
Madrid to Oviedo
Madrid - Leon - Oviedo. We depart from our bus terminal at 7:30 a.m. bound for León. On arrival, you’ll have free time to explore some of the city’s most notable landmarks, including the Gothic Cathedral – famed for its magnificent stained-glass windows – the Collegiate Church of San Isidoro, and the Plateresque façade of the San Marcos Hostal. We then continue our journey to Oviedo.

Day 2
Oviedo, La Coruna & Santiago de Compostela
Oviedo - La Coruna - Santiago de Compostela. We begin the day with breakfast before departing for Galicia, travelling to the elegant coastal city of La Coruña. On arrival, we take a brief panoramic tour to get an overview of its seafront setting and historic character.
We then continue to Santiago de Compostela, one of the world’s most important pilgrimage destinations and the final point of the Camino de Santiago. On arrival, we explore the city, including the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro and the impressive Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture and the spiritual heart of the city.
Day 3
Santiago de Compostela at Leisure
After breakfast, you have a full day at leisure to explore Santiago de Compostela at your own pace. You may wish to wander through its historic streets, visit local markets, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this renowned pilgrimage city.
Alternatively, you can join one of our optional excursions, such as a visit to Finisterre - once believed to be the ‘end of the world’ and an important extension of the Camino route.
Day 4
Santiago de Compostela & Rias Bajas to Vigo
Santiago de Compostela - Rias Bajas - Vigo. After breakfast, we set out towards the scenic Rías Bajas, often referred to as the ‘Spanish Fjords’, travelling through beautiful coastal landscapes. We make a short stop at La Toja Island before continuing to O Grove, where you may choose to join an optional catamaran cruise to view oyster and mussel farms, including a tasting of fresh mussels and Ribeiro wine. We then continue to Vigo. Free time on arrival. Optional excursion to Santa Tecla available.
Day 5
Vigo & Leon
Vigo - Leon. We journey inland towards Castilla y León, arriving in León – a historic city with an impressive artistic and architectural legacy. You’ll have free time to visit the stunning Gothic Cathedral or stroll through the atmospheric old town.
Day 6
Leon to Salamanca & Madrid
Leon - Salamanca - Madrid. After breakfast, we depart for Salamanca. Enjoy a brief stop and free time to explore the city’s charming old quarter and its celebrated Baroque-style Plaza Mayor. We then continue to Madrid, where our services conclude upon arrival.
