Summary

Explore the best of Portugal and Spain on this six-day journey from Lisbon to Madrid and back again. Travel through historic Mérida and its remarkable Roman ruins, then discover Madrid’s grand boulevards and lively atmosphere. Visit the medieval city of Toledo before heading north to Salamanca and across the border to Porto for a taste of its famous port wine. On your return, stop in Coimbra, Portugal’s university city, and the spiritual sanctuary of Fátima before concluding in Lisbon. A perfect blend of culture, history and Iberian charm in less than a week.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Lisbon to Madrid

    Lisbon – Mérida – Madrid. We depart from Lisbon at 7:30 a.m., crossing the Spanish border to reach Mérida. Enjoy free time to explore its remarkable archaeological complex, featuring the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre – both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Lunch is at leisure. In the afternoon, we continue our journey to Madrid. Meeting Point:Av. Frei Miguel Contreiras 52, 1749-086 Lisboa, Portugal

  • Day 2

    Discovering Madrid

    This morning, we enjoy a panoramic city tour to get acquainted with Madrid’s most important avenues, buildings and squares. The afternoon is free for you to explore this vibrant and cosmopolitan city at your own pace.

  • Day 3

    Excursion to Toledo

    Madrid – Toledo – Madrid. Today we set out on a half-day excursion to the monumental city of Toledo, a treasure trove of history and culture. We take in a panoramic view from the Mirador del Valle and stroll through the winding streets of its old town. Return to Madrid and free time.

  • Day 4

    Madrid to Porto via Salamanca

    Madrid – Salamanca – Porto. We travel towards Salamanca, an ancient university city renowned for its magnificent architecture. Enjoy some free time to explore the historic centre and admire the beautiful Baroque-style Plaza Mayor. We then continue our journey to Porto. Accommodation.

  • Day 5

    Exploring Porto

    Today’s panoramic sightseeing tour introduces us to Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Highlights include the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange, and the Church of Santa Clara. We finish with a visit to a traditional wine cellar to sample the city’s famous Port wine. The rest of the day is at leisure.

  • Day 6

    Porto to Lisbon

    Porto – Coimbra – Fátima – Lisbon. Breakfast and departure to Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and often regarded as the birthplace of fado. Enjoy some free time before continuing to Fátima, an important pilgrimage site. Here you may visit the Basilica and Sanctuary at your leisure. We then proceed to Lisbon, where our services end upon arrival.
