Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Lisbon & Fado Show
Once you have arrived in Lisbon, a transfer will take you to your hotel for check-in. You may have some time to explore the city, grab a meal, or relax.
This evening, we will experience the soul of Portugal at a traditional Fado performance, where heartfelt melodies capture the spirit of Lisbon’s historic neighbourhoods.
During the show, we will enjoy a welcome dinner featuring some of the most beloved dishes of Portuguese cuisine, a perfect introduction to the country’s rich culinary heritage.
Day 2
Exploring Lisbon
Today, we transfer from our hotel for a half-day city tour with a local guide who will introduce us to Lisbon’s main sights. Begin along Avenida da Liberdade, once a grand promenade for Portugal’s nobility, before continuing to Parque Eduardo VII, the city’s largest park, named in honour of King Edward VII of England.
We will then explore some of Lisbon’s most characterful neighbourhoods, including Alfama and Bairro Alto, where narrow lanes, tiled facades and centuries of tradition capture the city’s unique charm. The tour ends at Praca do Comercio, one of Europe’s grandest squares, with wide views across the Tagus River.
The afternoon is free for you to relax or explore more of Lisbon at your own pace.
Day 3
Exploring Sintra, Cascais & Estoril
Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon. This morning, we will travel by transfer to the beautiful towns of Sintra and Cascais. Just outside Lisbon, Sintra enchants with its lush hills and romantic palaces. You can visit one of its iconic landmarks, such as the National Palace, Pena Palace, Monserrate Palace or Quinta da Regaleira, each offering a distinctive glimpse into the town’s history and charm.
Continuing to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where dramatic cliffs overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Then journey on to Cascais, a former fishing village that has evolved into a stylish seaside retreat while retaining its historic character.
Return to Lisbon along the scenic coastal road through Estoril, admired for its elegant promenade and sandy beaches.
Please note: that the monuments in Sintra are closed on 24 and 25 December, 1 January and Easter Sunday.
Day 4
Sesimbra and the Blue Coast
Lisbon - Sesimbra - Arrabida Natural Park - Evora. We will depart from Lisbon and travel towards the striking Espichel Cape, the westernmost point of the Arrabida Mountain range. Here, we can admire the dramatic cliffs that drop steeply to the Atlantic Ocean and explore the small group of 18th-century buildings linked to a legend from the 13th century. The site includes a church, pilgrims’ lodges, a lighthouse, a chapel, and an aqueduct.
Next, we will continue to the fishing town of Sesimbra. Dating back to the 12th century, this charming coastal town is known for its fresh seafood and lovely beaches. We will visit the well-preserved Moorish Castle that overlooks the village and the ocean, offering wonderful panoramic views. It will then be time for lunch, and you can take the opportunity to enjoy some of the freshest seafood in Portugal at one of the local restaurants.
In the afternoon, we will cross the scenic Arrabida Mountain, often called the Blue Coast. This protected natural park is home to a variety of Mediterranean plants, including olives, pistachios, strawberries, lavender, thyme, and chamomile.
To round off the day, we will visit a small family-owned winery set among the peaceful hills of Arrabida. Here, we will learn about local winemaking traditions, stroll through the vineyards, take in the tranquil surroundings, and sample some regional wines before continuing on to Evora for the evening.
Day 5
Exploring Evora
This morning, we will be picked up to discover Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage City recognised for its remarkable preservation through the centuries. We will enjoy a guided walking tour through the historical centre, where we will truly feel the atmosphere of this charming town.
Within the old city walls, we will visit the Church of St Francis and its fascinating Chapel of the Bones. As we continue through the narrow, cobbled streets, we will reach Giraldo Square, once the site of the Inquisition’s headquarters. You will also have the chance to see the ancient Roman Temple and glimpse the impressive 12th-century cathedral. A short visit to the courtyard of Evora’s centuries-old university will reveal why this city was once considered the second most important in Portugal.
In the afternoon, we will visit a local winery to learn about its production process and enjoy a tasting of regional wines.
