Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Las Vegas
Transfer independently from the airport to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to settle in or begin exploring Las Vegas.
Day 2
Las Vegas to Mammoth Lakes via Death Valley
Las Vegas - Death Valley - Mammoth Lakes. After experiencing the energy of Las Vegas, we travel into the stark and dramatic landscapes of Death Valley - one of the hottest and driest places on earth. We stop at Zabriskie Point for sweeping views of the eroded badlands, and visit Furnace Creek Ranch and the Visitors Centre to learn more about the region’s extreme environment. We then cross the valley and ascend into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, continuing to Mammoth Lakes - an alpine resort town once shaped by the 19th-century gold rush and now known for its impressive mountain scenery.
The motorcoach tour begins today. Please meet in the hotel lobby at 07:30 for an 08:00 departure.
Day 3
Mammoth Lakes/Fresno to Modesto via Yosemite National Park
Mammoth Lakes - Fresno - Yosemite - Modesto. Today we travel via Tioga Pass - weather permitting - into Yosemite National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its natural beauty. We explore the valley floor, taking in iconic sights such as El Capitan and Half Dome, as well as Bridalveil Fall and Yosemite Falls. These striking granite formations were carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. Overnight in Modesto. If Tioga Pass is closed, the route will be adjusted via Fresno.
Day 4
Modesto to San Francisco
Modesto - San Francisco. We depart early for San Francisco, one of the most recognisable cities in the United States. On arrival, we enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour, introducing key landmarks and neighbourhoods before checking into the hotel. This evening, you may choose to join an optional city-by-night tour.
Day 5
San Francisco at Leisure
Today is free to explore at your own pace. You might ride a historic cable car or visit Fisherman’s Wharf to sample local specialities such as fresh seafood and sourdough bread. A walk along the waterfront offers views of the sea lions at Pier 39, while across the bay lies Alcatraz Island, once home to notorious criminals including Al Capone. Union Square offers excellent shopping opportunities. Alternatively, you may join an optional excursion to Napa Valley, renowned for its vineyards and scenic landscapes.
Day 6
San Francisco to Central Coast via Monterey and Carmel
San Francisco - Monterey - Santa Barbara. We leave San Francisco and travel to the Monterey Peninsula, known for its coastal views and elegant homes. In Monterey, we visit Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row, once the centre of the sardine-packing industry made famous by author John Steinbeck. We continue to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a charming town known for its art galleries and distinctive cottages. In the afternoon, we travel through Paso Robles, a noted wine-producing region, before overnighting along California’s Central Coast.
Day 7
Central Coast to Los Angeles via Santa Barbara and Santa Monica
Santa Barbara - Santa Monica - Los Angeles. We journey south through the Santa Ynez Valley to Santa Barbara, where palm-lined promenades meet wide sandy beaches.
