Set off from Kusadasi and wind your way to Istanbul on this 7 day Turkey taster – a neat blend of ancient wonders, surreal landscapes and lively culture. You’ll explore Ephesus with its grand theatre, step by the Temple of Artemis and browse treasures in the archaeology museum. Expect to see Pamukkale’s dazzling travertines and Hierapolis – with time to soak in thermal pools. Journey the Silk Road via Sultanhani and Konya’s Mevlana Museum, then be wowed by Cappadocia’s fairy chimneys, cave churches and an underground city – with an optional folklore night. Call at Ankara’s Anitkabir before finishing amid Istanbul’s buzz.
Itinerary
Day 1
Kusadasi
Welcome to Kuşadası. We collect you from Izmir Airport and you check in to your hotel at your leisure – the rest of the day is yours to wander this vibrant harbourside resort. This evening we meet our tour guide and travelling companions.
Day 2
Exploring Ephesus
Today we delve into antiquity on a guided tour of Ephesus and visit the site of the Temple of Artemis. We soak up the city’s mystical atmosphere at the ancient theatre, then continue to the Ephesus Archaeology Museum to view its remarkable collection of artefacts. At a traditional carpet village, we learn how Turkish carpets are woven by hand and what determines their value.
Day 3
Pamukkale & Hierapolis
This morning we enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods before continuing to Pamukkale’s dazzling white travertine terraces. We tour the ancient city of Hierapolis, and you can take a restorative dip among submerged columns in the thermal springs once prized by the Romans.
Day 4
Journey to Konya & Cappadocia
Today we travel the ancient Silk Road, visiting the Sultanhani caravanserai and the Mevlana Museum in Konya en route. This evening you can opt to attend a traditional Turkish folklore show.
Day 5
Exploring Cappadocia
We marvel at Cappadocia’s lunar landscapes as we visit the Goreme Valley Open Air Museum and the fairy chimneys, then venture through the many levels of an underground city.
Day 6
Ankara & Istanbul
We depart early for the nation’s capital, Ankara, where we visit Anitkabir – the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – before arriving in Istanbul.
Day 7
Istanbul
After breakfast our tour concludes – we bid farewell to new friends and are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
