Summary

Cross another item off your travel to-do list and do it in style with this 12-day Kilimanjaro combo tour. After you conquer African's highest point with the help of your CEO (Chief Experience Officer) and trusted guides (with tons of incredible views and vistas captured along the way), you'll head to Zanzibar and learn about local flavours at a spice plantation. There's plenty of free time at the paradisiacal beaches of Zanzibar, with options to scuba dive, snorkel, or simply enjoy some hard-earned R&R.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Moshi

    Arrive at any time.

  • Day 2

    Moshi/Machame camp

Most of the day is spent in the gorgeous and fascinating, forested slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, most of which is considered to be rainforest zone.

Depending on the weather, the trail will be soggy and possibly muddy if it rains.

  • Day 3

    Machame camp/Shira 2 Camp

Hike through lower alpine moorland to Shira 2 camp and observe the spectacular views of Kibo Peak.

  • Day 4

    Shira 2 Camp/Barranco Camp

Hike to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower. Enjoy the fantastic view of Western Breach and the Breach Wall.

  • Day 5

    Barranco Camp/Barafu Camp

View the Great Barranco Wall and climb up the eastern wall, passing below the Helm Glacier.

  • Day 6

    Barafu Camp/Mweka Camp

The route from Barafu Camp to the summit is mentally and physically, the longest, most challenging day of the entire trek. Despite the difficulty, the memory of conquering Mt Kilimanjaro will stay with you forever.

  • Day 7

    Mweka Camp/Moshi

Arrive to Moshi in the afternoon. Time to relax, take a shower, and celebrate with a drink. Cheers to climbing Mt Kilimanjaro! Before dinner, you will be welcomed and congratulated on your climb by the mamas of the Moshi Women’s Cooperative, a project supported by the tour operator. They will present you with a gift and a certificate to remember all your efforts on the mountain.

Opt to pre-book the Lala Salama Spa & Beauty Aromatherapy Massage, which partners with Moshi Women's Cooperative, by adding it to your checkout page, or ask your GCO or travel agent for assistance.

  • Day 8

    Moshi/Stone Town

Transfer to the airport for a short, but scenic flight to this island paradise. Arrive in Stone Town in time for lunch and an orientation walk. If you opt to continue on for a longer tour of Stone Town, you will be visiting the Old Slave Market and Palace Museum; entrance to these sites are optional and are to be purchased on site.

  • Day 9

    Beach day in Zanzibar

Visit a local spice plantation for a guided tour. Continue to the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters of Zanzibar's beautiful coast.

  • Day 10

  • Overall, I had an amazing experience and if given the chance, I would do it all over again. The CEOs, porters were such a big part climbing Kilimanjaro on bucket list. They kept me motivated, hydrated, well fed, and most importantly ensure my safety. I've been to over 66 countries and this will easily be in the top 5 of my favorites. It was truly an unforgettable experience. The easiness of the trip! I've been traveling with G for over a decade. All I have to do I enter a destination and everything that I look for in a trip correlates with everything that I mostly look for in a trip. It doesn't get any easier than that. Everything is explained in detail.

  • I have had the most memorable trip of my life and I owe it all to the incredible CEO, guides and porters from G adventures that looked after me so well on Kilimanjaro. Special shout out to Clemence Mvungi, Godlisten, Ernest, Paul, DJ (give the man a record deal!), Robin, Alex, and EVERYONE! And of course the main man (CEO) with the million dollar smile, Adolf. The atmosphere, the fun, the food, the singing - the Tanzanian people know how to have a good time and make sleeping in a tent seem like 5 star luxury. The cups of coffee to our tent before we even got up was honestly one of nicest things. The guides and porters went above and beyond their call of duty and I would trust them with my life. Their fitness and work ethic is like nothing I?ve ever witnessed before. I miss them all so much and can?t thank them enough. I will forever consider them as family and friends and they will always hold a special place in my heart. Asante sana xx G adventures take all the hassle and stress out of booking a trip and I always feel safe and confident any time I book an adventure with them. They are highly professional and go above and beyond to make sure their clients have a trip of a lifetime!
