  The currency in Argentina is the Argentine Peso (ARS) and in Brazil, the Brazilian Real (BRL). Credit and debit cards are useful, especially Visa, but their reliability at ATMs can vary. A 5-10% fee usually applies for credit card purchases. Bringing USD cash is recommended for the Argentine portion. It's also advisable to have an emergency fund of at least USD $200.

  Tipping is customary in Latin America; approximately 10% for service providers like waiters. For drivers and local guides, recommendations range from $5-10 USD per day. For your National Geographic Expedition Leader, a guideline of $20-25 USD per person, per week is appreciated if you feel they did an outstanding job.

  The primary modes of transportation on this trip include private vehicles, planes for internal flights, and walking during excursions.

  Yes, an optional Boat Tour of Iguassu Falls is available for an extra cost of $75 USD per person.

  Yes, an arrival transfer is included when you arrive on Day 1, or if you arrive up to three days prior and have booked pre-accommodation through National Geographic Journeys in the joining hotel.

• Is there an extra cost for traveling solo?

  No, our group trips are designed for shared accommodation without a single supplement. Single travelers are paired with someone of the same sex. A 'My Own Room' option is available if you prefer a private room for all night stops.

• What are the mandatory travel insurance requirements for this trip?

  Travel insurance is compulsory. You must have medical coverage with a minimum coverage of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We also strongly recommend coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage/personal effects.

• Are there any specific safety considerations I should be aware of?

  When wandering in major cities, especially at night, be cautious as tourists can be targets for pickpockets. It's recommended to use a neck wallet or money belt and store valuables in the hotel's safety deposit box. Your Expedition Leader has authority to amend the itinerary due to safety concerns. Avoid protests, and for water-based activities, only participate when accompanied by a guide.

  It is your responsibility to consult with your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information and any required inoculations well before departure. We recommend carrying a First Aid kit and hand sanitizers. Expedition Leaders are prohibited from administering drugs.

  Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap for times you may need to do your own laundry.
