- The black-maned tree-climbing lions of Manyara can be an entertaining sight as you watch them navigate the branches of the trees before resting lazily on a quiet spot. The other wildlife within the park includes herds of buffalo, cheetah, Maasai giraffe, baboon, elephant, hippo and impala.
- Manyara lake’s shores are inhabited by thousands of pink flamingos, and other birdlife is also prolific. Water birds are in abundance here, with pelicans, storks, stilts, egrets and herons all seen close to the source, whilst in the forested areas other species such as guinea fowl, crowned eagles and hornbills can be spotted.
- The Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania’s epic volcanic bowlful of 30,000 animals. This 25km-wide geological marvel is the easiest place in Tanzania to see the Big Five, is firmly established on Tanzania’s northern safari circuit, and it’s not hard to see why.

Summary
Our 2-day Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater safari packages were designed to offer visitors, with a time constraint, a short but a very intense Tanzanian Northern Circuit wildlife safari experience. It is perfect to add on to any of our Kilimanjaro experiences -starting in Moshi and finishing in Moshi or Arusha, which ever you prefer.
You will experience the excitement of an African wildlife safari, or even a photographic safari in two of the most spectacular national game parks in Tanzania.
This unforgettable African safari tour will take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife – inside a self-contained world, teeming with animals. Your tour will also take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The size of both the selected Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater national parks, make them a perfect choice for our shorter safaris, or a photographic safari.
Please note that this booked as a private tour and is priced based on 2 people sharing. If you are booking as a solo the single supplement would be mandatory. If you are a larger group, lower prices are available, just ask our team!
Itinerary
Day 1
LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Early morning soon after breakfast with your lunch box, drive to Lake Manyara / Tarangire National Park for a game drive. Dinner and overnight at Bougainvillea safari lodge (or similar)
Day 2
NGORONGORO CRATER
After breakfast with your lunch box we'll head off for our game drive at Ngorongoro Crater. In the late afternoon we'll drive back to Moshi, Arusha or straight to the airport for the flight back home.
