Customer reviews & ratings

  • I would say overall I had a wonderful experience with G Adventures and the CEO made that special. The hotels were very average and need improvement, as a travel agent on a small group tour I would expect much better quality hotels in better locations especially as the age group here was a lot older. Please also consider using local city guides for the city orientation tours and make then slightly longer, I think this would add a lot to the quality of the tour. I would be very careful in recommending G Adventure purely based on the accommodation provided. The hotels used on our tour were all over the place, some were excellent and a lot were very average and not in great locations

Some might not have elevators, air-conditioning, or English-speaking staff, but they are locally-run, with traditional character, and in excellent central locations. They provide clean, safe, simple accommodation. Note that most accommodations in Europe do not have air conditioning units in rooms, but a standing or desk fan can be requested.
  • What meals are included in the tour price?

The tour includes 13 breakfasts and 1 lunch.
  • What is the physical rating of this tour?

The physical rating for this tour is 2.
  • Who will be leading the group during the tour?

  • What are the modes of transportation used on this trip?

  • Is travel insurance mandatory for this trip?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. You must have medical coverage with a minimum of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. It is strongly recommended that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects.
  • What optional activities are available on this tour and what are their costs?

Various optional activities are available. Examples include: Ferry to Vulcano Island (12 EUR), Teatro Greco Taormina (14 EUR), Mt. Etna Excursion & Wine Tasting Tour (70 EUR), Noto Visit (12 EUR), Parco Archeologico della Neapolis Visit (10 EUR), Egadi Islands Excursion (50-75 EUR), Erice Excursion (9 EUR), and Zingaro Natural Reserve Excursion (50-70 EUR). • What are the tipping guidelines for the tour?

Tipping is customary in Europe. A general rule is 10% of the bill for wait staff and €1-€2 for other service providers. For local guides, €3-€5 per day is recommended. For the tour operator CEO, a guideline of €30-€40 per person per week is suggested as an expression of satisfaction.

When visiting churches and cathedrals in Italy, shoulders should be covered. Your CEO can provide more specific advice.
  • What currency is used in Italy and what should I know about money exchange?

The currency in Italy is the Euro. Credit and debit cards are useful for cash advances, but ensure you have your PIN (many ATMs accept only 4-digit PINs). Visa and Cirrus/Plus cards are widely accepted, but check with your bank as card acceptance is not guaranteed everywhere. A fee usually applies for credit card purchases. It's best to carry a combination of Euros, traveler's cheques (though less readily cashed now), and cards, and always bring more funds than you anticipate needing.
  • What are the luggage restrictions?

It is recommended to use a backpack for convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer, along with a daypack for daily items. Due to limited space on transportation, there is a limit of one main piece of luggage per person. You must be prepared to carry your own luggage up and down stairs, on and off transportation, and to hotels (max 15-20 minutes walk).
  • What general safety tips should I keep in mind during the tour?

Always keep an eye on your belongings, especially in major cities and transportation terminals. A neck wallet or money belt is recommended for valuables. Leave valuable jewelry at home, and use hotel safety deposit boxes. A lock for luggage is also advised. During free time, use good judgment, stay in small groups at night, and consider taxis for evening excursions. Avoid protests and demonstrations, as they can turn violent. Water-based activities should only be done with a guide, and swimming is always at your own risk.
  • Are international flights included in the tour price?

No, international flights are generally not included in the price of this tour.
  • What should I do if I have arrival issues or an emergency?

For dire needs, first call the tour operator's Local Office. If no immediate answer, leave a detailed message. For absolute emergencies after office hours, specific emergency numbers are provided for the UK (+44 7817 262 559). • Are there any specific health considerations I should know before travelling?

You are responsible for consulting your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information and required inoculations well before departure. It is recommended to carry a First Aid kit, hand sanitizers, and any personal medical requirements, as the tour may be in remote areas away from medical facilities. Leaders are prohibited from administering drugs. You should assess your ability to cope with the travel style based on the physical and culture shock ratings.
