Explore the beauty of northern Spain and Portugal on this 10-day journey from Madrid to Lisbon. Discover León’s Gothic charm and the pilgrimage spirit of Santiago de Compostela before travelling through Galicia’s scenic Rías Bajas. Cross into Portugal to visit the coastal gems of Viana do Castelo and Braga, then enjoy Porto’s riverside views and a tasting of its world-famous wine. Continue to Coimbra, birthplace of Fado, and on to Lisbon, where you’ll tour its historic districts and Belem’s monuments. With culture, history and fine food at every stop, this Iberian adventure is full of unforgettable moments.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Madrid to Leon & Oviedo

    Madrid - Leon - Oviedo. We depart from our bus terminal at 8:00 a.m. bound for León. On arrival, you’ll have free time to explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the magnificent Gothic Cathedral – celebrated for its stunning stained-glass windows – the Collegiate Church of San Isidoro, and the Plateresque façade of the San Marcos Hostal. We then continue our journey to Oviedo.

    Please note: This tour is bi-lingual and will be conducted in Spanish as well as in English.

    Meeting Point: C. de Ferraz, 3, Moncloa - Aravaca, 28008 Madrid at 8:00.

  • Day 2

    La Coruna City Tour

    Oviedo - La Coruna - Santiago De Compestela. After breakfast, we travel towards Galicia to reach the stately coastal city of La Coruña. We take a brief panoramic tour to admire its main sights before continuing on to Santiago de Compostela.

  • Day 3

    Santiago de Compostela City Tour

    Following breakfast, we enjoy a guided city tour of this world-renowned pilgrimage centre. Highlights include the grand Plaza del Obradoiro and the majestic Cathedral – the spiritual and artistic heart of Santiago. The afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure or join one of our optional excursions.

  • Day 4

    Santiago to Rias Bajas & Vigo

    Santigao de Compostela - Rias Bajas - Vigo. After breakfast, we set off towards the scenic Rías Bajas region, known as the Spanish Fjords, travelling through splendid coastal landscapes. We pause briefly at La Toja Island before stopping in O Grove, where you may choose to join an optional catamaran cruise to visit local oyster and mussel farms – complete with a tasting of mussels and Ribeiro wine.

    We then continue to Vigo, where you’ll have free time to explore. You may also wish to take an optional excursion to Santa Tecla.

  • Day 5

    Vigo to Viana do Castelo, Braja & Porto

    Vigo (Spain) - Viana do Castelo (Portugal) - Braga - Porto. After breakfast, we cross the border into Portugal and arrive in Viana do Castelo, beautifully set between the River Minho and Porto. Enjoy some free time to wander through the old town with its cobbled streets and noble buildings

    We then continue to Braga, known as the “city of archbishops” and the third-largest city in Portugal, where you’ll again have some free time. Later, we travel on to Porto.

  • Day 6

    Porto City Tour & Wine Tasting

    Breakfast is followed by a panoramic tour of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its historic charm and riverside views.

    We’ll see landmarks such as the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Palace, and St. Clara Church, before finishing the tour with a visit to a local wine cellar for a tasting of the city’s celebrated Port wine.

  • Day 7

    Porto to Coimbra

    Porto - Coimbra. After breakfast, we depart for Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and the birthplace of Fado, Portugal’s traditional music.

    Enjoy lunch on arrival, followed by free time to explore this charming riverside city at your own pace.

  • Day 8

    Fatima & Lisbon

    Coimbra - Fatima - Lisbon. Following breakfast, we travel to Fátima, one of the world’s most important pilgrimage centres. You’ll have free time to visit the Shrine and reflect in this place of great devotion.

    We then continue to Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, beautifully situated at the mouth of the River Tagus. In the evening, you may wish to join an optional night tour to enjoy a traditional Fado show, featuring the soulful music and songs of Portugal.

  • Day 9

    Lisbon City Tour

    Breakfast followed by a panoramic sightseeing tour of Lisbon, a city of light and charm overlooking the Tagus River. We begin at Edward VII Park for sweeping views over the city, then visit Rossio Square, Liberdade Avenue, and the Madragoa District, where Fado music was born.

    The tour continues through the historic Belém District to see its iconic landmarks: the Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, and the impressive Jerónimos Monastery. The afternoon is free for you to explore independently or take an optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril.

  • Day 10

    Lisbon to Merida & Madrid

    Lisbon (Portugal) - Merida (Spain) - Madrid. After breakfast, we cross the border back into Spain and travel to Mérida. Enjoy free time to explore its remarkable archaeological complex, including the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Lunch is at your leisure before we continue our journey to Madrid, where our services conclude.

    You will be dropped on Ferraz Street, near the Plaza de Espana at approximately 17:30, though this time is subject to external factors such as traffic and passenger delays.
