Hattusa to Black Sea - 6 Days

We depart Cappadocia this morning, crossing the sweeping landscapes of central Anatolia. En route we explore Hattusa – the former Hittite capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site – wandering among monumental gates and temple remains that reveal the city’s ancient grandeur. We then continue north to Amasya, a riverside town in a narrow valley along the Yeşilırmak, celebrated for elegant Ottoman wooden houses and dramatic rock tombs carved into the cliffs.

We begin by exploring Amasya’s charming centre, strolling beside the Yeşilırmak for classic views of the Ottoman houses and the cliff tombs. We continue to the graceful Hazeranlar Mansion, a beautifully preserved jewel of 19th century Ottoman architecture.

Late morning we depart Amasya and enjoy a scenic drive to Kastamonu, arriving in the afternoon to check in. You have time to unwind or discover the local streets at your leisure.

We uncover Kastamonu’s cultural highlights, from the hilltop castle with panoramic views to Nasrullah Mosque and Square, and the Liva Pasha Mansion Ethnography Museum for insight into Ottoman heritage. We wander atmospheric lanes lined with traditional wooden houses, then leave in the late morning.

On the road to Safranbolu we stop at the Glass Viewing Platform over the canyon – a striking spot for unforgettable photos – before continuing to Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its Ottoman era architecture and cobbled streets.

We delve into Safranbolu’s historic centre – renowned for remarkably preserved Ottoman architecture – taking in Cinci Han and Cinci Hammam, then visiting the Kaymakamlar Museum House for a glimpse of traditional life. We admire the elegant Izzet Mehmet Pasha Mosque and ascend to the Clock Tower for sweeping views across red roofs and winding lanes. In the afternoon we drive to Amasra on the Black Sea for a short walking tour and a scenic photo stop, then return to Safranbolu.

We set off from Safranbolu towards Istanbul, travelling through the scenic landscapes of northern Turkey. On the way we pause at tranquil Abant Lake – a natural hideaway framed by pine forests and gentle hills. We stroll the lakeshore, breathe the fresh mountain air and capture beautiful photos of the calm surroundings. You can enjoy a quick coffee or tea at a lakeside café before we resume the journey to Istanbul.

After breakfast our journey concludes – make your own way to the airport or your next destination.
