Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Cairo & Tour Briefing
Upon your arrival at Cairo Airport, you'll begin an exciting 15-day journey. Our local Expat Explore representative will assist you through passport control. Afterward, we'll head to the hotel where you'll meet our Egyptologist tour leader. You'll receive a briefing about the thrilling experiences and destinations ahead. Rest up tonight, as the adventure starts in earnest tomorrow!
Day 2
Giza Pyramids, Great Sphinx & Sakkara Tour
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on an exploration of Egypt's ancient marvels. Accompanied by our expert guide, we will visit the Giza pyramid complex, home to the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Here, you will encounter the iconic Great Sphinx and capture unforgettable moments. Our journey continues to Sakkara, where we will explore the Pyramid of Zoser, Egypt's first fully completed pyramid.
In the evening, you have the option to personalise your experience with two exciting excursions. Opt for the Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids, where a mesmerising display of lasers brings history to life. Alternatively, you can enjoy the Cairo Nile Dinner Cruise & Folklore Show, featuring delicious fare and traditional dancing on the tranquil Nile waters.
Please note: The flight to Aswan is scheduled for either Sunday evening or Monday morning, subject to availability.
Day 3
Flight to Aswan & Philae Temple Visit
Upon arriving in Aswan following our included flight, we’ll check into the hotel. Our adventure begins with a visit to the captivating Philae Temple. We’ll travel by motorboat to the temple island, offering breathtaking views from the water. This site, steeped in history, is dedicated to Isis, the goddess of love. After our exploration, we'll return to the hotel in Aswan for a well-deserved rest. For those interested, there is an optional evening excursion: dinner at a traditional Nubian house.
Day 4
Flight to Aswan & Philae Temple Visit
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before we embark on an exciting journey. At midday, we will board a traditional felucca, a wooden sailing boat, to explore the Nile. As the longest river in the world, the Nile has played a crucial role in Egypt's history. Observe the vibrant life along its banks as we sail.
This afternoon, you have the option to join a visit to the Abu Simbel Temple. This excursion offers a closer look at the impressive Sun Temple of Ramses the Great, a testament to ancient Egyptian engineering and artistry.
Tonight, we will spend the night under the stars, sleeping on the felucca on the tranquil Nile.
Day 5
Kom Ombo Temple, Karnak & Luxor Temples Tour
Start your day with breakfast before joining us on an air-conditioned vehicle journey to the historic city of Luxor. On arrival, you'll be transported back in time as you explore the impressive ancient monuments that once graced Thebes. Our first stop is the magnificent Kom-Ombo Temple, where you can admire its unique symmetrical design and picturesque riverside setting.
In the afternoon, we'll explore the east bank of the Nile, home to Egypt's iconic temples. Visit the sprawling Karnak Temple Complex, renowned for its grand courtyards and towering columns. We'll then continue to the Luxor Temple, an architectural marvel that has stood the test of time. Stroll along the Avenue of Sphinxes, the ceremonial pathway lined with statues, connecting these two historic sites.
In the evening, we'll return to our hotel in Luxor.
Day 6
Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple & Transfer to Hurghada
Today, we explore the wonders of Luxor's West Bank. Our first stop is the renowned Valley of the Kings, where we delve into the fascinating history of ancient Egyptian rulers. We then visit the impressive Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri, a striking monument dedicated to Egypt’s sole female pharaoh. Next, we marvel at the Colossi of Memnon, the towering remnants of the temple once dedicated to Amenophis III.
In the afternoon, we travel to a luxurious all-inclusive resort by the Red Sea, where we will be staying for the next few nights. This evening, join us for an included group dinner.
Day 7
Hurghada Red Sea Free Day & Optional Snorkelling or Diving
Enjoy a leisurely day in Hurghada at our all-inclusive Red Sea resort. Relax by the pool or stroll along the beach, perfect for unwinding after a few busy days of exploration. For those seeking adventure, optional snorkelling and scuba diving provide stunning views of the sea and its diverse marine life. You won’t want to miss this if you have a passion for water activities. With breakfast, lunch, and dinner included, you'll be well-fuelled for any adventure or relaxation you choose.
Day 8
Hurghada Leisure Day at the Red Sea Resort
Today, enjoy a final day of leisure at our all-inclusive resort in Hurghada, situated along the picturesque coastline of the Red Sea. The day is yours to explore at your own pace. You might choose to stroll along the golden beaches, find a tranquil spot at the resort for some sunbathing, or take a refreshing swim in the pool. For those seeking adventure, snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities are available to discover the vibrant marine life beneath the waves.
Day 9
Return to Cairo, Old Cairo Sites & Khan El Khalili Bazaar
After breakfast, we travel to Cairo, where the city's rich history awaits. Our journey begins with visits to the Hanging Church and Abu Serga Church, two of Cairo's most significant Christian landmarks, each embodying centuries of faith. We also explore the Ben Ezra Synagogue, renowned for its elegant architectural features.
Next, we head to Khan El Khalili Bazaar, a bustling network of alleyways brimming with spices, textiles, and captivating treasures. Here, you can haggle for souvenirs, enjoy a coffee while observing the lively surroundings, or simply immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere.
For those keen on delving deeper into Ancient Egyptian history, we offer an optional tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Marvel at the complete tomb collection of Tutankhamun and enjoy unparalleled views of the pyramids.
Day 10
Cairo Free Day & Optional Alexandria Excursion
Today, enjoy a free day to explore the vibrant heart of Egypt's sprawling capital. Dive into the lively atmosphere and immerse yourself in the unique sights and sounds that define this illustrious city.
For those interested in a guided experience, consider joining us on the optional "Sights of Alexandria" excursion. This fascinating tour takes you to Alexandria, a historic city on the Mediterranean coast renowned for its stunning beaches and lively seafront lined with cafés and restaurants. Discover ancient catacombs, a formidable fortress, and bustling souks in this city steeped in history.
Alternatively, you might choose to explore the National Museum and the Monastery of St. Simon. This guided tour offers insight into Egypt’s rich cultural heritage, featuring an impressive collection at the museum and the remarkable St. Simon cave church.
Day 11
Flight from Cairo to Amman
Today, we bid farewell to Egypt and set course for a new adventure in Jordan. After breakfast, we head to Cairo Airport for our flight to Amman, the capital of Jordan. On arrival, you'll meet your local Expat Explore representative, who will organise our transfer to the hotel and give an introduction to the highlights awaiting us in this captivating country. This evening, enjoy free time to explore Amman at your own pace. Do ask your tour guide for any local tips or recommendations.
Day 12
Amman City Tour, Jerash Visit & Transfer to Petra
Today, we'll embark on a city tour of Amman, visiting the Amman Citadel, the Roman Theatre, and the Amman Panorama Art Gallery in the vibrant downtown area. The Citadel offers sweeping views and a glimpse into the city's ancient history, while the Roman Theatre exemplifies impressive Greco-Roman architecture.
Next, we journey to Jerash, a city with roots dating back to the Bronze Age. We'll explore Gerasa, a remarkable walled Greco-Roman settlement famed for its well-preserved ruins, which provide an insight into ancient Roman life.
Later, we travel to Petra. Upon arrival in the evening, you'll check into the hotel and join the group for an included dinner.
Day 13
Petra Guided Tour & Overnight in Wadi Rum Desert Camp
Today's itinerary is packed with unforgettable experiences! We'll start by visiting Petra, hailed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. This ancient city, known as the "Red Rose City," is renowned for its stunning sandstone architecture, carved over a millennium ago. Accompanied by a local guide, we'll explore Petra's remarkable history and artistry.
We’ll journey on horseback through the Petra Siq Canyon to reach the iconic Treasury, marvelling at the intricate rock formations along the way. After an included lunch, we’ll head to Wadi Rum, a dramatic desert landscape famed for its unique natural beauty and cinematic vistas.
As the day winds down, prepare for an extraordinary night spent under the stars in a traditional Bedouin-style camp in Wadi Rum.
Day 14
Wadi Rum, Madaba, Mount Nebo & Dead Sea Experience
Start your day with an early breakfast at the camp, then join us for a drive to Madaba, a town renowned for its impressive Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. We'll visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George to see the iconic Byzantine-era mosaic map of the Holy Land.
Next, we'll head to Mount Nebo. According to the Hebrew Bible, this is where Moses was shown the Promised Land. You’ll have a chance to take in the sweeping views before we move on to a highlight of our tour—the Dead Sea. Here, you have free time to swim or float in its famously buoyant, salty waters.
After a rejuvenating day, we’ll return to Amman, where an included group dinner awaits.
Day 15
Departure from Amman
Today marks the conclusion of our Egypt and Jordan tour. Following breakfast, we say farewell to your fellow travellers and make our way to the airport. Expat Explore extends warm wishes for a safe journey home and looks forward to welcoming you on another adventure soon.
