This is one of our flexible tours, meaning you won't be with a set group and tour leader for the duration, instead, you will be met at your hotels by a driver and/or guide every step of the way, and will have the chance to meet new people on each daily tour or excursion. This gives you not only the flexibility of free time away from a set group, but also the opportunity to meet a new expert local guide at every step of your journey.

This trip is a great extended variation on the most popular route through Costa Rica, exploring all the highlights with a couple of lovely beach stays. It has a really generous number of included activities that make it one of the best value options in the country, and one of our favourites!

A lake and rivers beckon you toward aquatic adventure. Refreshing waterfalls reward you after hikes, offering crisp pools and spectacular views.

Arenal Volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most notable natural features. Standing at 5,437 feet (1,657 meters), this volcano has been resting (i.e. not active) since 2010. However, it is no less majestic to behold, as it’s practically a behemoth against the region’s perfect skies. Rising above the rainforest that surrounds its base, Arenal Volcano frames the skyline with near-perfect symmetry.

You will soon reach what it’s called the “Big Boy”, the second largest waterfall. About half-way through your rappel, you’ll hear the call to “LET GO!” a few moments later you’ll experience your first guided free fall! Finally, you will get the largest Lost Canyon challenge: an exciting 200 feet waterfall rappel.

At the end of this tour, enjoy a delicious typical lunch. The Arenal Volcano Rainforest and Natural History along with the breath-taken lava flow twill take you through lush rainforest along the base of Costa Rica's most famous volcano. Your experienced, bilingual naturalist guide will point out interesting plants and wildlife in the vibrant primary and secondary rainforest of the nature reserve that skirts the Arenal Volcano 1968 Park. This hike takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Then it's time to head to the Paradise Hot Springs, perfect for relax in natural thermal water pools and jacuzzis of different temperatures with focused hydro massage for back, legs, and feet. The Resort also respects a maximum capacity of visitors to provide a peaceful atmosphere. There are showers, massages and body treatments service, food and drink, as well as reclinable beds, sun umbrellas, and relaxing music along the pool areas. • If you are looking for a stress-free tour of Costa Rica, I can highly recommend this trip. They did a really good job of organizing the activities, accommodations, and transport. Everything worked out perfectly. Based on conversations I had with fellow tourists who went with other companies, I feel that the operator does a better job of researching the experiences than others. Everything exceeded my expectations.

I would say it was one of my best experience ever!!!!!!! I booked this tour by myself as you know solo traveler but the company still provided all activities. Even though one day during my travels I missed the activity by accident they still provided for me just for one person I felt guilty and felt glad and thankful at the same time. All hotels that they provided were near by city center, so you can walk around and find some local restaurants to eat! Plus tour guides were so friendly and attentive even just for one person they still came pick you up at the hotel and completed all activities as it shows on the website. Everything was so convenient and don’t be afraid if you miss a bus, you still can hit destinations and arrive to the airport on time. I have nothing to say besides thank you very much Green World Adventure that you provided me an unforgettable trip! Definitely recommended this tour.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need a visa for Costa Rica?

Depending on your country of origin, you may enter Costa Rica without a visa. USA, Canada and most European countries enjoy this privilege. Please check current information with your local embassy or foreign office.
  • Are credit cards accepted in Costa Rica?

All major credit cards are widely accepted. ATM machines are located throughout the country.
  • Do I need an adaptor?

Outlets are 110 V, with standard US two prong plugs.
  • How much money do I need?

To give you an idea of what to expect, here are some average price: a typical lunch or dinner costs around $6-8 at an affordable local restaurant (or “soda” as they called in Costa Rica) or up to $20-40 or more at a formal restaurant. Beer or basic mixed drinks come at about $2-3 at a typical bar or restaurant, and double or more at a luxury hotel or posh restaurant. Taxi rates are cheap compared to tickets in U.S. cities. A trip within a town like San Jose that is only 2 or 3 kilometres will cost between $2 and $6, depending on local traffic (which can be significant in downtown San Jose). Other services like Uber are also available, and the fares are usually lower and they are also considered to be safer than taxis. When taking a taxi, always get the official red taxi with yellow triangle!
  • What does Pura Vida mean?

Pura Vida literally translates to “pure life” and it’s a way of life in Costa Rica. It’s used in every situation and practically every conversation. Pura vida means to live life as stress-free as possible and let things go. It’s also used as “thank you”, “you’re welcome”, “hello”, “good bye” and much more.
  • Can I bring a suitcase?

You can, but we would suggest a soft holdall or backpack would be easier. There is a boat transfer included and you would typically have to carry your bag onboard yourself, although the drivers and crew will normally offer to help if your bag is heavy!
  • Can you I book this as a flight inclusive package?

You can! Just ask our team, they have years of experience in finding the best flight options.
