Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Pineda de Mar

Barcelona - Pineda de Mar. Once you have landed at Barcelona Airport, make your own way to our accommodation in the seaside town of Pineda de Mar. After checking in, you are free until the evening - you might take a first walk along the seafront or spend some time on the beach.

This evening, we come together over our Welcome Dinner at the accommodation, a good chance to meet the rest of the group.

Tour Style: On this tour you will stay in the same hotel throughout, with included excursions and free time to spend at leisure. On the excursions the maximum group size is 45. A tour leader is on hand at the hotel to provide information and assistance throughout your stay. Please note: The order of some of the tours and experiences may vary in order without affecting the tour or experience.

  • Day 2

Barcelona City Tour & Sagrada Familia

Pineda de Mar - Barcelona - Pineda de Mar. Today we head into Barcelona, starting outside the Sagrada Familia to admire its exterior. We then board our coach for a sightseeing drive past several of Gaudi’s most celebrated buildings, before continuing up to Montjuic, where the views stretch out across the city.

Our next stop is close to the port. From here, we set out on foot for a guided walk down Las Ramblas and into the narrow lanes of the Gothic Quarter, ending at the Cathedral.

You then have some time to yourself in Barcelona, perhaps to stop for tapas or browse the shops around the old town. Later, the group walks back to the coach, and we return to Pineda de Mar for dinner at our accommodation.

  • Day 3

    Freixenet Cava & Tarragona

Pineda de Mar - Tarragona - Pineda de Mar. We begin the day at Freixenet, one of the most famous names in cava, for a visit and tasting at the winery.

Next, we travel on to Tarragona, where our guided tour takes us through the historic centre. Walking through the old town, we see the Cathedral from outside, along with the Roman Walls, the Roman Circus, the Mediterranean Balcony and the Amphitheatre.

After some free time in Tarragona, perhaps for a coffee in one of the old town’s squares, we head back to Pineda de Mar for dinner.

Please note: Sightseeing in Tarragona is from the outside only, with guided commentary but no entrance tickets.

  • Day 4

Free Day in Pineda de Mar

You have the day to yourself, whether you would like to unwind at the accommodation or head out to explore the local area on your own.

  • Day 5

    Montserrat by Rack Railway

Pineda de Mar - Montserrat - Pineda de Mar. This morning, our coach takes us to Olesa de Montserrat, where we switch to the rack railway for the climb up to Montserrat . Our guided visit here includes the Museum and a tasting of Catalan coca with a local sweet wine. We also have time to see the Basilica and the Black Madonna before returning to Pineda de Mar for dinner.

Please note: The choir performance at Montserrat is not part of the visit.

  • Day 6

    Girona & Tossa de Ma

Pineda de Mar - Girona - Tossa de Mar - Pineda de Mar. After breakfast, we set off for Girona, where a guided visit leads us through the historic centre to the Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter and the city walls.

From Girona, we continue along the coast to Tossa de Mar and ride the tourist train up to the lighthouse, an easier and more relaxed way to see this part of town.

You then have free time in Tossa de Mar, perhaps to wander the old streets or relax on the beach. Afterwards, the group returns to Pineda de Mar for dinner.

  • Day 7

    Free Day or Figueres Excursion

You have a final free day to spend as you wish, with time for some shopping, a slower pace or one last look around Pineda de Mar.

Alternatively, you can join a suggested optional excursion to Figueres, the town where Salvador Dali was born. A visit to the Dali Theatre-Museum shows the range of his work, from paintings and sculptures to photography and film, and gives a real sense of one of Spain’s most famous artists.

Please note: You need to book the Figueres excursion at least 30 days before departure, and it operates only when minimum numbers are reached.

  • Day 8

    Adios Catalonia
