Summary
Start in Istanbul and fly to Cappadocia and back on this 5-day taster of Turkey. Kick off with a relaxed arrival, then dive into the city’s icons: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar, plus a cruise along the Bosphorus between Europe and Asia. Fly to Cappadocia to explore the otherworldly valleys, fairy chimneys and the UNESCO listed Goreme open air museum, with views of Uchisar Castle and time for an optional hot air balloon at dawn before flying back again. Expect welcoming hotels, scenic flights and a balanced pace – plenty to see without feeling rushed.
Itinerary
Day 1
Istanbul
Welcome to Istanbul. We meet you on arrival and arrange your transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure – you can choose a Bosphorus dinner cruise if you wish.
Day 2
Istanbul Sightseeing
We spend a full day discovering Istanbul’s icons: Hagia Sophia (also called St Sophia and Aya Sofya), the Byzantine Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace with Hagia Irene and the Harem – closed on Tuesdays – and the Grand Bazaar. We also stop at a carpet room to see how carpets are made by hand.
Please note: Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays and is replaced by the Spice Bazaar. St. Sophia Museum is closed on Mondays and replaced with St. Chora.
Day 3
Bosphorus Cruise & Fly to Cappadocia
After breakfast we visit the Spice Bazaar, then cruise the Bosphorus – sailing between Europe and Asia. After lunch we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Cappadocia, where on arrival we meet you and transfer to your hotel.
Day 4
Exploring Cappadocia
You may opt for a hot air balloon flight this morning. After breakfast we explore the Goreme open air museum, view Uchisar Castle, and continue to Devrent Valley to see the fairy chimneys. Please note – due to the steep and challenging climb, entry to the castle and the ascent to the top are not included; we visit from below for superb views and photos.
Day 5
Fly to Istanbul
After breakfast we transfer you to the airport in Cappadocia for your flight to Istanbul – our services conclude on arrival.
